Larry nodded and two of his goons stepped forward. "Wait! Wait! I'll pay, I'll pay!" cried Patsy, head baker at The Burned Loaf in Summerlin, Las Vegas, gesturing wildly with his arms like a man practicing flying lessons by jumping from a tall building. Larry grimaced and held up his hand. The men stopped in their tracks, all malice and barely constrained violence but they knew better than to ignore the instruction of their boss regardless of what their nature desired. The one with the bat even had the good grace to lower it. A little. "Your envelope was light, Pat. You know it and I know it. I didn't come to Summerlin for the sights, I came here to make sure little scumbags like you paid their dues to the Don." Larry said with an air of disinterest that his presence didn't quite do justice. "When Disorder asked me to help out operations here, do you know what he said to me?" Patsy looked like he might venture a response but the smallest flicker of Bat Goon's bat and the words died in his throat. Larry continued as if he hadn't noticed anything. "He said to me, 'Larry old boy, I think you could do well out in Summerlin, carve out a piece of your own. And a little extra muscle will help Angy's people keep the shitters in line' and I guess he was right, because this" Larry snarled holding up the envelope in front of Patsy's sweat-stricken face "makes you a shitter." Larry clicked his fingers and the two goons burst into life. The first grabbed a hold of Patsy and punched him square in the face, flattening him. Bat Goon, not to be outdone, set to smashing counters with meaty swings of his trusty timber. Larry let the violence and cries from the baker persist for a few seconds more before he called the matter to a halt. "Now, Pat. I promised the old man I would bring the shitters into line and I'm sure you don't want to make me a liar, do you?" Patsy struggled to shake his rapidly swelling face, but shook it he did. "I didn't think so. So what's going to happen is that my men here are going to come back here on Wednesday and by then you're going to have a juicy envelope for us. You're also going to have your lad bring fresh loaves each morning to our joint over on Sunset. Understand?" Patsy struggled to nod his rapidly swelling face, but nod it he did. "There's a good lad." Larry said, stepping over the debris and making his way to the door "Oh and by the way, I love your bread. Best I've tasted. May I?" He added picking up a stray loaf that appeared to have been left unmolested by the carnage. He didn't wait for the baker to reply and tucked it under his arm. Once outside, Bat Goon could barely contain his glee. "Aw shit boss, that was great. Who we smashing up next?" Larry sighed. "You aren't smashing up anything. I need you and tweedle-dee here to filter through the local riff raff and see if anyone there is ready to step up into something better than petty crimes. If we're going to get a handle on this place, we need to make sure we run the other gangs out of town." Tweedle-dee spat "I hear the Ecini brothers have got a pretty good book running outta' a place in Pennwood. Could lead to something." "We'll pay them a visit. The Jew's places too. But first, more men." Larry said with a wave of his hand, indicating the conservation was over. "Meet me later with some good news." Bat Goon nodded. "Where will you be?" Larry stuffed the envelope into his suit pocket, enjoying the weight of it whilst it lasted. "I'm hosting friends of ours tonight at the Terminus Casino, celebrating our arrival. Meet me there" He said, signalling his driver he was ready to depart. "And wear a better suit." |

Disorder walked into the grand new terminus casino. The place was a sight to behold and decked out appropriately for such an occasion. It was a happy occasion with mixed feelings as these things often were. He was delighted to see Larry stretch his neck and step out into a role he was made for. And on the other hand Disorder would miss his happy face craning round the office door while his body was still walking the hall. JoeKing slapped him heartily on the shoulder and broke his train of thought. 'Godfather! Its good to see you here in the new casino! I hope you do the polite thing and play suitably badly with heavy bets, at the tables before you leave.' Disorder chuckled. "I'll be sure to do just that my friend. A fine place you have made here. A casino fitting the grand city which started it all. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'd better go see Larry before I begin an evening of financial regret for the greater good." Joe smiled and Disorder made his way across the large room toward Larry. Surrounded by well wishers and opportunistic women, he was being all things to all people. Disorder tried to make as little fuss as he could while shouldering his way through the group toward his trusted right hand. Eventually he reach the man and embraced him. Larry took a step back and gave him an odd look. 'Whats that about? You drunk or am I about to get dead?' "No my friend, I'm just feeling a little sentimental. I don't want to touch your knees or anything. Rest easy." Larry's shoulders dropped as the awkward tension subsided, accentuating the incredible length of his neck even further. He smiled at the old bald fighter he'd grown up with. Disorder smiled back. "Its going to be good this, you're going to do well. Now you have the love machine with you, I dare say you'll be fighting these women off on a daily basis." Larry grinned and glanced over at Romance who was surrounded by throngs of swooning women. One actually appeared to be an exotic male. He nudged Larry and nodded in the direction of the woman with the unusually angular throat. She was the most sexually aggressive of the group and was making very good headway with Romance, very close to closing the deal as far as the two men could make out. Disorder raised an eyebrow and spoke quietly to Larry. "Do we tell him?" 'I really don't think he'll care. Just look at the fucker. When he has that look in his eye, the potency of his love knows no boundaries. He becomes gender-blind and anything with an orifice should be wary.' Disorder chuckled but knew it to be reality. Taking out a large set of keys and a document, he handed them to Larry. "Here. A gift. These are the keys and operating instructions to a silver rocket car we managed to steal from a test sight out in the desert. I had some degenerate reporter with an amphetamine habit drive it back for us and now I'm not sure we're going to use it. You may as well have some fun with it. Be warned though, the speed this thing can go is beyond belief. Its fucking lethal!" He embraced his friend once more and signaled the bar tender for a drink. |
