Sam is the offspring of a forbidden tryst between an angel and the devil.  Her mother named  her Samantha so that she would always have a direct connection to her angelic side, in hopes that the darkness from the demon side would not engulf her entirely. Her father gave her the surname Hellsworth so that she would forever be bound to Hell and him. Her appearance was basically that of human except on the left side her head is the horn of a demon and around the right is the halo of an angel. On her left shoulder protrudes a demon wing and the right side is a matching angel wing. She can heal with touch of her right hand and just as quickly kill or cause dementia in someone with her left.

Being both an angel and a demon neither heaven nor hell had a place for her. Nearly 600 hundred years ago, she went into the world of the humans. This was a difficult venture for her  as she had no idea how to live among the humans.  She rarely spoke unless she was spoken to first, and usually she responded with a gesture. When her angelic side is in control she may speak to offer gratitude, but  still prefers silence.  For decades she stayed to the dark recesses of humanity, as close to the shadows as possible for when she did venture out the people chased her with looks of horror or with disgust.  Her usual reaction was violent, bloody and enjoyable  followed by her having to up root and leave another town.

Making her way west she found herself in Las Vegas, the city that never sleeps. Alone  and not sure where she would fit in till one day a stranger came up to  her, undisturbed by her  appearance and asked her if she was looking for work. He explained he was an associate of The Royal Assassins and was given a job that he had botched. He needed help to fix his issue, before his boss  had to deal with it. He said he would pay her for any assistance she could offer, not really caring about his issue but in need of some cash she threw her black hooded cloak over her head  and went along with him.

He took her to a  decent looking, but shady bar just a few blocks down the road. As they entered he finished telling her about  how he had to make a collection for his boss and the guy would not pay him, she wondered why this thug just didn't rough the guy up a bit and take the money. Then she realized why as he pointed the mark out, he was an ox compared to the chicken legged guy who brought her here.

She approached the ox of a man and after a few moments of heated talking the both of them went into the back of the bar. She did not even notice if the thug had followed or not, she was watching how the ox moved with a slight gimp in his right leg . A weakness she would take advantage of soon enough.  They entered his office him with thoughts of double crossing and killing this woman in a hooded cloak. She was watching him calculating her moment to strike, sensing  his intent of death. Her smile spread to her eyes as she  jumped and kicked him directly in his knee, it had been twisted  just slightly as his gimp impeded his speed in that leg. The bone broke through the skin as he collapsed on the ground, bellowing in pain. She smiled at the ox, went to his desk drawer and pulled the very gun out that he had intended to use on her. She aimed  and pulled the trigger the only sound besides the gun shot was her whistling the tune  that one day would be known as Zip-a-dee-do-dah.  Still whistling as the thug walked in his eyes wide at the scene of the ox with a bullet in  his head and her pulling out two  of five wads of cash from his safe she just finished  cracking open.

The thug was shocked she had taken the ox out, afterall  she was only slightly larger than himself, he was also a bit upset he had to ask a woman to help him and that she did it alone hurt his pride as well. Still whistling she tossed him four of the five bundles that were in the safe. She slipped her wad into a pocket hidden in the folds of her clothing. Impressed as much as a thug could be he asked her to come back to his boss with him, if he could convince her to come with him, maybe he would get his button for bringing in another viable associate.  He told her that he could get her more cash like that, then remembered he had found her in alley and offered a bed as well. The cash  was a luxury she been without for a long while, so long she had forgotten the comfort of having a cushion of cash to rely on, but it the mention of the bed piqued her interest, it had been nearly five years since she slept in an actual bed.  She  adjusted her hood back over her head and spoke for the first time since they came in contact, "What you waiting for? Let's see this boss." She was more interested in this bed, the ground was getting tiresome.

The thug and Sam left the office closing the door behind them, they continued down the hall and back out into the bar.  While they left one of the waitresses approached them till Sam lifted her head just enough to scowl at the girl through up turned  nearly black eyes. Sam did not have to say anything the intent in her scowl was clear and the waitress promptly turned on her heels as the thug and Sam left the bar. The two walked to thug's car  in silence and he drove to  the safe house where his boss was apparently waiting or so he told her anyways, he just kept talking and talking she finally just zoned him out. They pulled up to the safe house and  he told her to stay in  the car till he came back out.  He entered the house and after a moment she saw the curtains flit in the window, then he opened the door and signaled her to come in.

When she entered the thug closed the door he was still holding open, she walked just in enough to be out of his way. Her eyes scanned the room a few pictures on the wall of an old place she assumed it looked old anyways. Then her gaze fell upon a woman who  had an air about her that exuded power, Sam decided this must be the boss.

The thug walked over and introduced Sam to his boss Angy.  Angy looked her up and down as if appraising her, Sam just stood there wondering when the reaction to her appearance would happen, but much like the thug there was no reaction.  Not getting a reaction piqued her interest a bit, as there usually always was one. This relieved her some of the situation she was not already sure about.  Then the boss spoke, "Is it true what Henry said you took that pain in the ass out by yourself? Sam answered with a nod of her head. Angy gave a short nod toward Henry, "Henry said you don't talk much, I like that. So are you looking for work I got some for you, and a space here for you to call your own. Money is good, even better if you manage to work your way up."  Sam removed her hood extending her hand,  the two shook hands.   That was ten years ago maybe more time had no real meaning for her, she was timeless. After all it had been nearly 600 years since she was declined from heaven and kicked out of hell.
