I was going to make a street thread about this, but I think it will probably be a little easier to explain and answer questions about in OOC.

I think we can do a little more with the business districts and drawing upon a concept I saw Constantine use effectively, I have decided to create businesses across the game which can be "knocked over". 

This is an opportunity for role play groups of various sizes to attempt to rob a variety of businesses owned by The Longneck Gang. There will be a wide selection of financial rewards for successful robberies and (very small) penalties if the thieves are caught in the act. The success or failure of each robbery will be determined by rolls of the dice using the game's dice feature to ensure fairness.

Each of my businesses has money assigned to them, which you can keep if you can successfully knock them over.

The way you knock them over is simple enough, you post in the business, challenge me to the right number of dice bets and if you win, you get the cash.

These events are open to everyone, from any city, from any crew, you just need to have at least 1 Made Man within your team and follow the instructions in the thread.

There will be no harmful repercussions from doing this; I'm actively encouraging you to try and knock them over.

I really think this can become a fun way to develop characters and interact, whilst also having the opportunity to make a little money in the process.

Nah, this is an outstanding effort Larry. When I first came to MR it was ALL about the RP, and to me, it has gotten very far from it's roots. I think this will bring back a huge aspect of this game that has been missing for me, and hopefully a lot of the other RPers that are still around. Not to mention help players interact a bit more than the occasional OC and slim to none business threads we have now.

Superbly thought out and pretty simple to participate in. I'm not sure if OOC threads are sticky'able, but if so, this needs to stay on top.

Very keen to see this used, very grateful to be able to work for you on it. 

Hopefully we can create a sense of accomplishment from successful attempts, especially if people have been putting in time to build up the value of the businesses. It's a great step towards offering more than just the posts and the points of the business districts.

Question:  Will there be game ramifications for attempts to rp knocking over your protected businesses?  To be clear:  If I go to the trouble of getting a group of roleplayers together to RP in one of your businesses, can we expect you to attempt to WACK us if we do?  I mean, we ARE hitting one of your businesses.  Seems to me it's possible.  Of course, since you're trying to encourage RP, maybe you won't... but then how will you RP interacting with us after.  I'm pretty sure most mobsters wouldn't be friendly with someone from a rival crew trying to knock over their protected businesses.

NOW... all that said, I LOVE THIS.  I do.  I enjoy RP and want to interact with others ICly.  I just want to make sure I clearly understand the stakes before I go to the trouble of trying to get folks together for RP.  Sometimes that seems to be next to impossible.  :(

I think this is a cool idea. I'm all for anything that encourages RP.  Will probably even try it myself, if there's truly no repercussions for failing or succeeding.

The only punishment will be a small fine, the maximum amount of which is stated in each business. If you do a decent job, it will be less than the max.

I'm not sure I could really stop you, but you wouldn't earn any cash either.

In a bid to see this used a little more, I'm scrapping the need to have at least one Made Man for the time being. 

Two people of any rank can now knock over the majority of these businesses.

Oddly enough, I haven't actually noticed this thread. But now I'm intrigued. If any of my former LA mates wanna step in and help, shoot me a mail. I'm going to see if we can't get NY a few million richer ;)
