The Basics:

· Learn to govern yourself and to be gentle and patient.

· Never speak or act in anger.

· Remember that, valuable as is the gift of speech, silence is often more valuable.

A Gentlemen:

· He is never arrogant or weak.

· He bears himself with dignity, but never arrogantly.

· Too wise to despise trifles, he is too noble to be mastered by them.

· To superiors he is respectful without servility; to equals courteous; to inferiors’ kind.

A Lady:

· She should feel gentle pity for the unfortunate, the inferior, and the ignorant.

· She should carry herself with an innocence and single heartedness which disarms ill nature.

· She must win respect and love from all.

· A young, unattached lady is forbidden costly cashmeres, very rich furs, diamonds, and many other brilliant ornaments.
