Today is October 4th.  We a month out from Halloween, two months from Thanksgiving and THREE from Christmas.  And today, while shopping at Walmart, I watched them setting up Christmas trees.  No kidding.  *facepalm* 

So my question is:  Christmas Trees and goods being broke out and sold in October, is it harmless holiday enthusiasm and I need to take a chill pill or is this ridiculous commercializing a beloved holiday run amok?  Bonus question - should September be worried that it's next to be pulled into the blackhole-like gravitational pull of the Christmas Season?  Why or why not.

Well, Halloween is this month, not next. Thanksgiving is less than two months away, and Christmas is less than three months away.

It's all about the Christmas spirit! It's the season of giving, a season.. not just a month or a holiday. We live in a capitalistic society, apparently they increase profits by exposing their customers to that sort of display. Just grab your things and go home, the Christmas decorations won't follow you.. unless well, you buy some? 

September could give zero fucks about Christmas, it's marred with the scar of 9/11.

LOL Clown - no I didn't buy any today.  I've got nothing against Christmas personally, it just kinda caught me off guard, ya know?  And yes, Halloween is this month but it's still like 27 days away which is nearly a month so, that's what I meant.

Well. Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year too, but it is still in December. 

Why can't it just be left in December. I think it's way too early too in October to start selling Christmas stuff. I remember thinking to myself last year when Halloween stuff had not been set up, but Christmas stuff had.  It felt weird somehow.

I agree with Andy_Campo on this one. Even though I never really get that Christmas mood feeling thing, it's still a little too early for all of that. One holiday at a time would be better imo :P

I dont really feel its too early, in fact i've done most of my Christmas gift shopping already tbh. So with that in mind, I'm sure its Ok for stores to start selling Christmas specific products.

The way I see it; many folks can only afford to spend a little at a time, so buying little bits over a few months instead of a mad rush nearer the time makes more sense.

Is October too early? Perhaps. But fuck it, I love Christmas!

I love the christmas holidays but mate, Now my child is going to be asking about his christmas for 2 1/2 month.

I think they could've held it off for at least another month.

Soon....It will no longer be Black Thursday, or Black Friday.....but Black October.
