GAME ADVICE: Altering the economy, need input | Started by: Squishy on Aug 07, '10 00:32 |
So, to get a more realistic feel for the game, we are thinking abuot cutting the economy of the game into 1/10th of what it currently is.
Everyones onhand cash is cut down to 10%. $500,000 onhand cash becomes $50,000
Every price in the game is cut down to 10%. $2,000,000 BG becomes $200,000
Every earn in the game is cut down to 10%. $590 petty becomes $59
Every tip in the game is cut down to 10%. $25,000 tip becomes $2,500
Basically every form of money in/out gets a 0 taken off the end.
While everything changes, in theory, everything stays the same (with the exception of the marketplace, which will be closed down momentarily, and all listing cancelled for the switch over)
With the exception of people with outstanding loans from others - everything should go without any issues. I would like to think those who owe money to another player can work out the issue between themselves...
In my head, everything seems fine with this process, but, is there anything I am missing? I want to make sure all aspects of this are thought out so that there are no suprise consequences.
Any input is greatly appreciated. |

You'll have to take into account banked cash, as well as BG training. Other than that, I can't think of anything else that would be effected. Perhaps the MRSE? It won't make a huge difference as we'll still technically have the same amount of money. You might want to consider the effects on drug prices however, if we've less money, the drugs should be cheapened too. Also, the wealth status will have to be taken into account. |

The loans should be fine, if you were loaned 100k it would be 10k instead so you just pay back the 10k. You still payed back what you borrowed, so I see no problem :) |

Literally every money in and every money out will be changed (everything from fees to do stuff, to income from stuff, to maintenance costs, to purchasing stuff... everything) |

Is the only point of this to make it more realistic? |

Aye, just a cosmetic realism change. |

This may be a bit trivial, but will the change be able to adjust earnings as well? |

Yes, everywhere there is a money amount, it will be 1/10thed. If you earned 3 million, it will say 300k instead... every number will be 1/10thed :) |

So your dividing the economy facevalue by 10, i dont see any problems that could arise from that, except for things without a 0 on the end, lol. |

I love it, especially since the ratio of money and expenses are staying the same. It just makes more sense. |

I love it too... for instance, chartering a private Jet.. was gonna cost $2,000,000 odd. I didn't want to buy the plane, just charter it. |

The amount of money in the game is something that has always bothered me. Day old gangsters running around with millions/heck even hundreds of thousands made no sense. Especially with the era the game is set in. This change is defiantly one for the better. |

I would have to agree, as everything drops by 10% then no-one should lose out.
Everyone will feel more skint, but will get used to it :) |

I don't see any downside to it, just changing one thing. |

Why would you even need to do this? All you are doing is dropping everything by 10% there is no real change there. Now if you wanted to make things interesting make the drug market go up 10% while everything like petties and felonies go down 10% along with the things we can buy. Mix it up make it random. Poor drug market high petty and felony crimes ect. |
