Setting up the Drop Started by: Carmine_Maldonado on Nov 01, '17 22:52

It almost seemed like a regular day for Carmine. It was collections day.  That meant he had to see all of his debtors and collect for them. Some was protection money, some were down payments on loans, and others were from gambling money, though that wasn't always a payout, but this was a good week for him. So good that he would be able to put money to a side project he was working on. There was only one problem with that. Carmine had a feeling that he was being watched and followed at times, so he needed to move some of his stashes around. He had looked for places to move things around and change things up.

He had found the perfect person to hold onto to his money for him. There was a woman who he had seen hanging about with the family. If he was honest, he would love to get to know her much much better, but from what he knew of her, she was at the very least dependable. Well, he hoped she was because should he be wrong he'd be out of a lot of money and then he'd have to figure out what to do with this beautiful woman, and he really didn't want to do anything unpleasant.

She was a woman who was hanging out with the boss of the same crew as him, so since he kept her around, Carmine thought she was someone to be trusted. Besides he had heard that she did some odd small jobs for the family anyway, and in a way this should work out. He had a friend of his go and collect his money from his personal stash, which was outta state, then meeting him at the warehouse where he counted up all the collection money.

Once he separated his cut and put it aside, Carmine got the money that needed to be contributed to the family put away when his friend arrived. He handed Carmine his personal stash, so Carmine added in the money he had just collected to that then packed it up in a suitcase. He then took the suitcase and put it in his car, and headed out to see the woman in question.

He had gotten her number from one of the boss’ close guards, who he had sometimes drive her around, and made sure she got from point a to point b safely. He had given her a call earlier and asked for a meet. She had told him to meet her at this old closed down restaurant in Detroit. Which was fine with him, he wasn't really worried or expecting any foul play, but he was prepared in case it went down. If his life before prison didn't teach him anything then 10 years in the can HAD, so now he was always prepared. But Carmine wasn't hoping that all went well as he headed to this impromptu meeting. Besides from what he heard, the woman was kinda ditzy, so hopefully he could use that to his advantage.

He thought to himself with a slight smile on his face as he continued to drive to the meeting place.

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $100,000 Tip

The past few days had been a whirlwind of action.  News had traveled across the country of the recent bloodshed in Detroit.  Carmeli thought about the letter residing in the pocket of the tattered coat.  Looking down realizing the coat had seen better days, blue eyes focused on the pocket as a hand patted over it quickly, as if protecting the fond farewell from a dear friend and moreso, cousin.  So much tragedy caused the furrow of brows as Carmeli looked around the blood stained streets, but that didn't deter from the task at hand.  Word got to Carmeli of a man looking for assistance with sensitive dealings, and this was the perfect chance to sort out employment hopefully.

Throughout the day at times it felt as if there was someone following Carmeli, but must just be the paranoia setting in, nerves rattling and whatnot.  Nothing much of value being carried, yet stolen glimpses of blueish attire, and blonde hair.  Unforgettable blonde hair at that, seemingly as if dipped in a bucket of grease, and it was enough to gain attention, or at least causing intrigue.  Not intrigue to why Carmeli was being followed, that was something familiar.  No it was curiosity and imagining where the gentleman bought the bucket of grease, from the cooking aisle or the hair aisle.  Shrugging then deciding that mystery shall remain that...a mystery.

Carmeli turned towards the rundown restaurant, the end bricks sporting missing chunks.  Information had declared this was the meeting place, but a glance over the place had caused doubts.  Surely the address was written down wrong, something.  Ah well time will tell.  Sneaking inside the side door, which was barely hanging on by the hinges, Carmeli headed to what was left of the dining tables and chairs.  Selecting one that looked sturdy enough to sit in, Carmeli reached out a hand to brush the dust.  A massive dust cloud burst into the air, causing a bout of nonstop coughing.

"Damnit."

Carmeli muttered softly once the coughing subsided enough to take a decent intake of air.  Taking a seat, raising an eyebrow with a quick glance to the time, so begins the waiting.

Waiting. Watching. Keeping track of time on a shoddy pocket watch found in a newly nicked Buick. Bernadette. She took him to hell and back then left him with a momento. Or was it him who took her. He had to leave her badly beaten after the ride. Sometimes a dame just got in the way.

The wheels came to a slow roll. The engine sounded like it could use a cough drop. As he put her in park, he kept her purring a little longer. Even her hoarse growl had some beauty to it. And he couldn't help but notice the broad he'd been following did too had a certain look about her.

He was on another job. Was this all he ever cared about? He had to cut his feelings short on the ladies. The sweet groans under the sheets, of metal. They kept him alive, but they were only ever a one night deal, a quick pull to be turner for a quicker profit.

And now he was getting paid for what? The note didn't give too much away. The thick stack of bank notes as a down payment did. This was going to be another one of those that had him sinking into a bottle every night for the next few weeks, or months. He could feel it. Uneasiness.

Headlights. Fuck. Louis flicked them off. Bernadette's nose was out. Sniffing the scene outside the restaurant. And in enough of a way that Louis could see inside it. Her ass though, not so much. It was a half car space back and out of view from where Carmeli was seated.

Another flick of the pocket watch. It was about that time. Louis leaned back and got comfortable in the driver seat of the '34 Buick 50 sedan. He kicked his legs up and onto the adjoining passenger seat. But first, more waiting.

One slight movement, shifting as Carmeli crossed her legs attempting to gain an ounce of comfort if at all possible, had the chair creaking. Her soft spoken voice uttered another unladylike word as she heard the sounds.  Was this piece of junk gonna collapse?  How long has this place been abandoned for pete's sake she wondered.  Headlights passed by, one after the other.  Sucha a busy evening it was turning out to be. Blue eyes glanced around the empty dining area.  Cobwebs dangling in the corners no matter which direction she looked.

"Ickth."

Her voice caused another wave of echo effect bouncing around the room.  That's it.  Next meeting place She was picking out.  This place was a nightmare.  She kept her coat snugly wrapped around her slender frame, not wanting to acquire dust and other unimaginables lurking around all over her Chanel dress.  Carmeli glanced to the time once more then began tapping her foot impatiently.  Where was this guy at.  Probably off chatting up some dame in a cozy little bar.

Headlights caught her attention again, and one car slowed to what seemed like a crawl then disappeared from her sight as she stood up, so she brushed it off and walked around a few paces.  The restaurant was barren of any necessities, well anything worth pilfering through that is.  A bar full of empty shelves.  Damn.  She sure could use a drink right about now.  Her favorite flask was empty, and this meeting was already running late.  The chair made another slight creaking sound when she sat down again.

Slowly crossing her legs once more, Carmeli had literally nothing to do now but wait.  An endless wait it seemed.  She thought about the money to be made then smiled.  Yes.  Money always made her a happy lady, well money and liquor.
