The Necessity of Purging (Debate) Started by: Taukaz on Nov 26, '17 22:06

As we saw in yesterdays tragic events, bad men will do evil things without provocation.  Godfathers Earl, Varys, and East_Side_Tacos were not bad men and did not deserve what happened to them last night.  But, now they lay dead and we are spending today visiting their funerals and trying to put the pieces back together.  It sickens me that the ill intentions of a few can ruin the hard work of three great men so easily.

From the onset of their reign the current Godfathers vowed to do things differently.  Since they have come to power you have see wars sure, but the targeted killings have ended.  The systematic murder of anyone suspicious has been wholly abolished.  With their choice to do things "right" we now see the repercussions.  As far as anyone can tell Geordie had no confrontations with anyone he murdered last night.  There wasn't some long standing beef between himself and the fallen.  He was just an evil man dead set on doing evil things.

When Kimble, DoctorBoom, SpikeS, and Curtis were doing their purging many people were outraged.  They saw this as the most barbaric act anyone could imagine at the time.  As you see now maybe they were just more realistic than those who spoke out against their actions.  Maybe they understood that evil men will do evil things and that if they wanted to live they couldn't count on the good intentions of others.  We have seen with many others in the past that if you are too nice evil people will do bad things.  Kurgan and RobOakheart being good examples.  They vowed to do things differently and try to build a different world.  Kurgan was shot by a masked assassin in his sleep and RobOakheart was warred on the eve of his retirement.

Now, I understand that purging has its cons as well as its pros.  When you purge for so long the people who you have killed eventually stack against you.  Many, many of the people purged are innocent and probably didn't have any bad intentions.  The key word there is "probably".  For the mafioso at the top of the ladder it becomes a ratio.  At what point does the risk outweigh the reward.  As we saw yesterday the ratio was interrupted wrong last night and now 3 Godfathers lay dead.  Even still, is it fair to purge the suspicious 1% just to keep the other 99% safe and our foundations intact?

In closing I want to hear your opinion.  What is the correct answer here?  Should those in charge now resign themselves to the fate of Kurgan and many others?  Should those at the top just wait for bad men to do bad things or should they be proactive?  I honestly do not know the correct answer and I have no horses in the race.  We have seen what is morally right fail time and time again, and the thing that is morally "wrong" work time and time again.  What do you think?

Pimp walked by, listening to the speech.

I do not praise Geordie in any way, and I think he shot many innocent people yesterday, but he played it well. Even if the regime was actively purging like we’ve seen in the past, Geordie managed to earn a CL spot. The leaders trusted him enough to let him lead a crew, and in that case, they trusted him not to shoot anyone like he did yesterday. Purging wouldn’t have changed anything.

Report Post Tip

Honestly I dont think its a matter of trust anymore. I have heard too often of a leader put someone in a position just because they were around at the time that it was needed. Perhaps if there was more emphasis on actual loyalty then someone wouldn't weasel their way into a crew leader spot just to cause so much damage.

No one in this life is innocent though. I don't think purging helped, as Curtis and co saw their own amounts of rogues popping up and randomly shooting.  I think its more of an excuse to go bloodline hunting then doing any actual good.

Report Post Tip
I don't know what you're smoking but purging has been completely active for the current regime too. I've seen people die for no reason, noone questions it, in fact noone even goes to their funerals in fear that they will also be targeted.
You are trying to paint purging as a black and white thing, see that's in the leadership's heads tho, the whole "It's us or them" Mentality. Instead of working on making their own cities better, having more communication with their capos and getting to know their Made Men, leaderships focus COMPLETELY on 1) Trying to save their own asses by killing anyone active that isn't known and 2) Pretending to "expand" and then wiping that city off the map after a certain amount of time.

This is an incredible self destructive behavior we have seem repeatedly for quite some time know... Everyone knows we WILL NOT survive forever in This thing of Ours, yet people try doing it at the expense of relationships, alliances, money, they are willing to sacrifice any and every thing in order to self preserve, completely forgetting that the way to do that is doing the opposite. Am I just an "idealist"? Maybe. I wouldn't be surprised if someone comes to kill me in my sleep after saying all this but it's true.

So to answer your question, the answer is keeping the groups ruining the mafia world separated. We get it guys, you have people who are good at killing
Seriosly
WE GET IT
But a lot of us don't give a fuck if you can train your gun to kill fast or not, some of us are here to enjoy talking to people, making a couple bucks by doing drug runs, stealing a few purses... You get the point. But people are completely set on this kind of mentality: Kill you, your brother, cousin, mother father uncle... Just kill the whole fucking family. So why doesn't that change? Because noone holds leadership accountable for anything. If you think about it, they could kill EVERYONE and how could it be stopped if only they have the assassins? The answer is it couldn't. But hopefully that will change soon.

You guys are correct in your points and they are valid.  Geordie did become a crew leader and Curtis did see his fair share of rogues.  But I'd like to refute a few of your points just for the sake of discussion.

Geordie did get to the position of Crew Leader that is true.  I think Kamryn hit the nail on the head that it was an auth based on need opposed to true loyalty.   When the purge lists were abolished they vetting process of players was also done away with.  He was given his position based on misplaced trust.  Is it possible with more thorough digging that his reign of terror could have been avoided?  That is only for God to determine as none of us could possibly know.  All I am saying is it is possible that Geordie would never have gotten though the vetting process had it still been implemented.

As for Curtis's rogues.  The only rogues that did any real damage were mouseycop and Daniella.  At no other time did they lose anyone as important as Earl, Varys, and EST.  After the deaths of Curtis's friends at the hands of mousey and Daniella the purging ramped up and his base was relatively safe, minus the "roguing" of Godfather Frankie4Fingers which was set up by Godfather Curtis himself.  Incidentally Geordie is of the same bloodline of Frankie4Fingers.  What a coincidence eh?

Welcome to the discussion Chapo thank you for being here.

You seem a little more in the know than I.  Who has been shot for no reason?  I am only curious how you came to the assumption that purging still exists.  To an uneducated person like me the streets look relatively free of such things, at least compared to reigns in the past.

Report Post Tip

Quick question, have you ever had kin in Chicago? Ever had to deal with that leadership before Geordie took some of it down?

Report Post Tip

I really don't see what my personal relationships or experiences with anyone has to do with the topic at hand.  I might be stretching a little bit in assuming about how Geordie got his position.  The way I see it their are two possibilities.

1) Varys being the kind man that he was based his auth and opinion on how he felt about people in the moment as opposed to their past actions.  He chose to believe that if he did his people right he wouldn't be betrayed, and he was.

2) Varys did vet Geordie and he is just a world class liar.  As far as I've heard no one, not even Varys, knew that Geordie was indeed Frankie4Fingers.

I am inclined to believe the former.  I could entirely be wrong.

Report Post Tip

I was just curious.

I find there are some many options and factors involved. There are three sides to every memory. Theirs, yours and the truth somewhere in the middle.

Report Post Tip

No problem with being curious I appreciate your input.  You are right in that the truth lies somewhere in the middle as well.

Sadly no one ever tells the whole truth and their are factors we may never know.

Report Post Tip

Truth is actually a falsehood.

The only thing there is, is reality.

one mans truth + another mans truth = reality.

How many criminals have been found guilty by witness accounts, only to be proven innocent later by evidence?  How many times have you thought one thing was true, only to find out that you were misinformed? Which lead to your truthful thought.

Suggestion and  misinformation  can and will most likely lead to a false truth.

Report Post Tip

But a lot of us don't give a fuck if you can train your gun to kill fast or not,

Chapo_Guzman, I think your ancestors would disagree.

Report Post Tip

There are many good points here. I won't dispute any nor agree - for it really doesn't matter at the end of the day.

My thought on the matter though - is that what is more important than the life you live is the legacy you leave.  I'm going to suggest that if you purge relentlessly, backstab and generally disrupt growth of business then the legacy you leave isn't going to be looked upon by the masses with a sense of happiness.  However, if your approach is to be good to everyone, be fair and promote growth of business - I think that your legacy will be quite different than the former.  Sure - you will will likely get shot down by a rogue.  But, that's the risk you take by assuming people are honest and good.  To me at least, that's a risk worth taking.

We're all going to swallow a bullet someday whether you approach this life in one way or the other.  We get to choose how we proceed in the meantime and pay the consequences of either action at the end.

This wasn't his first rodeo, and it won't be his last.  I saw him do this in NY as well.  Now he has a taste for it and it will only increase.  He's sick  and his appetite needs to be fed.

They blend in with the good then strike, burn all bridges and come back incog. do it all over again.

Don't be paranoid, be smart.  Look for signs, I saw them as they were right in front of me and I didn't recognize them as I was so consumed in doing good.

You win this time F4F/Geordie but I don't admire you, you disgust me.  I spit on your grave, decorate you head stone with dog piss as my rotty lifts a leg.  Rot in hell you piece of shit.

Yeah, that felt good :)

Report Post Tip

This is the most one sided, biased and unfactual load of bullshit I've seen in a longtime.

Those that were killed were in bed with Cletus and had all played their part in spreading a plague of cancer upon this once great thing of ours.

To even suggest that they wern't killing whole cities based on anyone they deemed suspicious is actual madness.

You're a tad fucked in the head mate. First off purging still happens. Get your head out your ass and open your eyes. If purging didn't still happen, my father amongst many would still be alive. Isn't that right cunt.. I mean spiral. *cough cough*

It's a strong part of this game, even if they are building or are IA cunt's like my father. It's a part of the strategy you have to bring to the table when you want full domination and control of these lands. There's always cliques and groups rising and falling. Which ones you work with, and how long you keep them on the payroll before they become expendable is all on the one pulling the strings. When you finally write them off you automatically need to begin hunting and suppressing them before they do what that cunt Geordie did.

To say it was without reason is ludacris. To those with eyes that see the landscape, they can see his 'clique' ie group of friends are in strong places. They all have rogue tendencies, and with his tactical shots most the cap guns loyal to the clique in control fell off. Leaving just a slim number of folks left in the world that can blow your face off no matter how well protected you are nor your rank. So protect your neck as you may think someone under you is loyal till you and your crew six feet deep, right vary's? RIP man

Kurgan was gunned down to end one era and so we can put forth curtis'. Rob was killed by kurgan and co; which is funny because do good men kill other good men? Let's also point out rob stab the man that authed him in the back. What was it, the first 24hrs too? Boom was hated but from my ancestors journals he was one of the best people to work for. Unless your name was toaly, mike hunt, goku, or the other however many dozen it was names..

The 99% safe? It's always the 1% vs the 1%. People like you mean nothing in the grand scheme. You are pawns given orders to. That's the reality for you and don't think otherwise. You are pro's, meat shields, and money makers while the top dogs play their game of thrones (ah he said it). Some of you work hard enough into that 1% while the rest of you float in limbo. Don't think it's true? We all were there at one time. Until you are in a clique making money moves you are just another number, possibly a +1. *winks*

In conclusion and I don't give a fuck about your opinion, remy be it the nice guy he is will never be up there with kurgan (Not saying he isn't going to go down in the history books as he definitely will). Why? Because kurgan allowed growth while suppressing a very slim number of people. That sort of thing wasn't in his nature and that's why we were able to wack him with ease. Do you remember how stagnant things were with kurgan? You only saw one or two cities removed the entire reign after rob and gato were knocked off. The second kurgan was wacked the entire world crumbled over one week. Till you were left with Curtis and co. but up until that point you didn't see someone being sent to build a city and removed days later. Now that's just the norm...

Morals? Fuggetaboutit... in this thing of ours there's no morals. Just the codes we all live by..
Report Post Tip
That's cute clank. I remember us dropping and spanking you on the daily baby. Our dicks were so far up your ass you were giving oral to the tip. Watch yourself when you speak about chappy bear. What's a 1 day gangster going to do? Don't focus on the now, focus on the ancestors and kin. One can be ontop today but the difference between how far the other is willing to go is what separates us..

Enjoy life while you got it. Maybe you, whore, and bjorn will succeed in removing remy so y'all can finally be on top and gf's for once. Instead of a group that goes rogue and gets purged. Or maybe he just removes your ass before then for assisting Geordie on the low, and full out backing him when his ancestor went rogue too. How many times have you gone rogue mate? I honestly lost count. You can debate with my bear about whose ancestors may disagree about what but how many times has he died in the past year comapred to you?
Report Post Tip

Who did I purge, young sir?

Report Post Tip
Mate read carefully, you're assuming that I'm claiming you purge (though for the record don't play me for a fool I know you over our past runs have pushed harder than any when it comes to killing off old lines and people that wronged you) but really I'm just calling for your testimony that purges still are ongoing. As if not this cunt Dillon wouldn't be here.

Though technically you are right in your assumptions, I do hold you accountable for Alphonso's death seeing as you invited him and he got shot mere minutes after. No ws was asked for, not even a visit from his new don, and in a time where everyone is after large guns and shonuff was just shot I highly doubt it was by any rogue. Though I curious to here what you have to say about this..

For the life of me I cant work out whether you're being intentionally or unintentionally stupid.
