Cronus - self promotion not begging like a bitch, there's a significant different and if you re-read my original piece you would see that I more than condemned the latter. Personally whenever my bloodline has been a leader I always reward those hard workers who I don't know mainly because I already know the qualities of those other bloodlines friendly to me already so I don't see the sense of this so called elitism. Rabbit, this is not a Mr.Oliver centric discussion, this is a general principal joust so whilst you may feel this applies to the badasses I would prefer it doesn't degenerate into any specific current examples focused at leaders. |

Self promotion should be the hard work that these guys and gals have put in for the family. What more does someone need? I agree as well, this isn't a conversation that should be directed towards Mr. McTavish at all. Seriously, do people believe this is the only leader where this is a problem? This has been a problem for a long time and with many leaders in the past as well as the present. |

I find it amazing given the almost daily use of a certain phrase that we can argue that a leader should justify themselves to their members. Would Joe Gangster get an audience with the head of the family? Would Joe Gangster get an audience with the RHM of a family? Would Joe Gangster even get an audience with a Captain? The most of likely of these is the latter and even that is at a stretch. We make allowances for what we are and where we are, but how far can we do this before our idiolsed image as (sorry) "roleplayers" is little more than a falsehood? As a RHM of the RFC, I have zero intentions of messaging all my Gangsters, because honestly, they aren't worthy of my time. I have a structure for these things, I really wouldn't hear about these people unless they did something; a) Very stupid b) That earned me/our organization a lot of money This, I feel, is reflected in the fact that I have no say in promoting them past Gangster. By Goomba, word may be passed to me by their Captain of their rising star, at Earner I may even take an interest in the better ones, especially if they're making shed loads, but ultimately I'll be looking to the Captains for insight into this person. Mystery is our front line representative in terms of taking on Gangsters and molding them into worthy members of our organization and then, maybe, into members of our family. He knows his members, because it actually is his job to. You aren't in the family the moment you start running in Mystery's crew; you've barely broken the surface of our organization. I use this term deliberately as family is reserved for my fellows who've been blessed with a badge of honour. That took me awhile and whilst I was rambling the discussion moved on somewhat. Allow me to continue as if these people had been speaking prior to me beginning. Cronus, an element of our world will always be run by cliques. It is the nature of our profession, crews, divisions, brotherhoods, whatever. We are pretty much forced together from the moment you begin to the moment you die. Some of these people transcend the bond of family and become coffeeshop friends. These will also be your most trusted, I can't really see how this can be argued any other way. An example of this can be seen through the choice of RHM. You pick a RHM because you implicitly trust them, can you honestly say you would pick someone who worked with you a little bit for a few days over someone you've dealt with over a period of years? I can't. It is the ability to spot hard work and reward it, that separates decent and good crewleaders. A lot of them are ultimately burned by their own generosity, be that by the person they gift a chance to, suddenly betraying them by going rogue or something much minor. Lets take our own subjective hats off for a moment. I believe this is the first time you and I have ever worked together, yet you hold the rank of Made Man. Had we been cliquish, would you have got that promotion? I really doubt it, considering our and my clique's checkered history with your predecessors. Therefore, I feel it is pretty dependent on the organization you're involved in. Cathy_Parks and I have always maintained that we would reward those who deserve it, regardless of coffeeshop affiliation. I believe we've been true to our word and anyone in our organization who feels they haven't been given a fair roll of the dice, should pay closer attention to the requirements outlined in our HQ. I've promoted people, who's coffeeshop counterparts I genuinely dislike, because they earned it. |

Okay this isn't the current state however. We aren't being given the "chances" that you would happily give to us. Right now we are being ran by a few leaders who will only promote people who have known them on the IRC for a period of time. Other then that you have to work your ASS off or not be in the few families who refuse to give people chances. It may be paranoidity (made that word up myself.) that is causing this annoying cycle. Not sure at all. You are very closed minded - I however once was in all of these families. I have been in every family that has been in existance since last January. I'm only telling you the differences i've seen from last Reset to this one. It seems to be more oriented to Cliques now then it has ever been. Before you had a few families who would accept you and give you chances to grow. Right now we only have one or two and those will be gone in a few weeks to make room for more Clique families. This all has to do with what you are talking about. Don't for one second think this is seperate. This is why me and a few other people don't give our full respect to the Leader. This is also why we see so many people quitting. The state of this game right now is shit. Untill it changes - you will have more and more people doing what you think is dissrespect. |
