FryBread Express Started by: Apache on Jun 15, '18 06:13

"I've never had Frybread before."  She said out loud as she walked up to Frybread Express being followed by her large bevy of bodyguards.  "You know this probably would have solved the bun issue that Spartacus had!"  Having seen a great solution to the problem at hand she rushed to a payphone, dropped in a dime and called HQ

"Holy Shit Spartacus, you're not going to believe this... I think I found the solution to the bun issue.  It's something called frybread.  You gotta check it out.  Come on down to 1234 Main Street and check out this place called Frybread express... lunch is on me!  Oh and don't bring Donny_Donowitz ... we don't need this turning into another food fight."

Apache decided while he was already home here in Detroit he would check up on his Frybread Express. He walked in and the place was empty. This concerned Apache a lot. He called out to the manager who was in charge of the place while he was away. RedFoot the manager came out from around the back. He took a seat next to Apache.

”Sorry boss, I don’t know what’s going on people just haven’t been coming by anymore!  Maybe we should get more flyers out there?”

Apache nodded agreeing with the manager/bodyguard.

“I’m going to talk with a few store owners and see if I can’t get them to promote the business, in the mean time clean this place up I have some people coming to update the kitchen. Also get a couple deals up, lower these prices do what we have to do to get some more customers!”

Apache left the restaurant on a mission to help promote it.

Orion was walking the streets on Detroit and exploring his environment when he caught a whiff of something cooking. It smelled delicious and appeared to be getting stronger the further he walked. He realized that the entire day had slipped away since he had landed in Detroit and he completely forgot to get something to eat along the way.

As he kept walking he could hear his stomach let out a rumble and just like that he was instantly starving. He had to find where this smell was coming from. He quickened his pace and upon turning the corner up ahead he spotted a train car with white smoke coming from a small pipe on top of it. He raised his eyebrow in slight confusion, but was overcome by the delicious smell and was there in moments.

Upon entering the train cart he smiled and nodded his head at the staff as he took a seat at the table. There was a menu and Orion glanced over it, but with his level of hunger he already knew he was just going to ask for one of everything and in the order it’s cooked. He didn’t care what it was and he knew that whatever it was, the smell assured him that he would enjoy it thoroughly.

Alexander had hoped that a good night's sleep on a bed would alleviate some of his pent up exhaustion, but fate it seemed had held other plans. He'd spent the night tossing and turning, haunted by nightmarish renditions of the events that had transpired. As the morning light entered through a window he reluctantly got up and rubbed the dust off his eyes. Standing up slowly, he stretched his arms trying to work away the kink in his sore back.

His fingers ran through his beard as he wondered what to do next. He knew he had to figure out a way to get himself established in the city and fast, lest his limited finances run out. His stomach suddenly grumbled almost as if reminding him of his priorities. Having not had anything for dinner the previous night, he was anxious to get some grub. The receptionist pointed out the a good local place and he headed out.

The sun peaked from behind the clouds lazily, reluctant to get the day started, mirroring his own emotions. With a sombre smile he meandered along the street till he reached the place. Hoping they were open this early, he curiously opened the doors and stepped in. A few patrons stood nearby but the place seemed deserted for the most part.

Someone was busy setting up a few tables outside the and he stepped aside to let the young lad pass. Inside his gaze fell on pictures of redskin elders adorning the walls of the car. Taking a moment to capture the strange sight in his memory he slowly strode to the counter. "Couple of burgers please, thanks mate." he nodded politely to the native american standing behind the counter before turning around and sitting next to a patron who seemed to be emptying the entire pantry on his own.

A dry chuckle escaped his throat and he was glad he could still laugh at the little things. Hopeful that the chuckle was a sign he would soon recover to his old ways, he reached behind his ear to pull the cigarette he kept tucked but came up empty. With a sour face he recalled running out of them before getting out of the motel. With a sigh he made a mental note to find some soon before turning back to Orion

"Excuse me Sir, " he said sheepishly, "Could I borrow a cigarette?" The cap of the whiskey bottle he had salvaged from the wreckage of his former bar burned a hole in his palm, a reminder that there were mobsters all around, this man may very well be one.

It was closing in on midnight and Lushie had yet to have dinner, she should've eaten a lot sooner and in reality maybe just miss dinner now, considering it was getting late. But to Lushie, she felt she could justify it since she was working late and was many hours away from her bedtime this night.

She went Downtown in Detroit to have a mooch around places that were still open. She wasn't quite sure what she even fancied other than the fact the hunger needed putting out as soon as possible like it was a fire roaring. After a while, she spotted a railroad car that has been remodelled up into an eating establishment, FryBread Express that intrigued her to go check out the menu. She had a strange sense of familiar run through her like she had been there before. She shrugged it off as she read through the menu and found her wanting to find out what this frybread was all about. She was a fan of novelty as she took a look around and spotted a few dream catchers hanging up, "Where have I seen similar before" she muttered to herself as she went up to the counter to order food.

Lushie waited in line until a man with a deep voice spoke to her "Hello, What would you like?" he asked her, "Greetings, I would like a Fry burger in a frybread bun, with cheese and a little bit of BBQ sauce, portion of fries and also a cola soda please" she replied with her order. It was a lovely night and she decided that she would sit outside to eat it, "Take your time, I will be just outside at a table" Lushie told the server as she walked outside to sit at a table to await her food.

Apache decided to go around the city of Detroit posting flyers to promote his restaurant.  It took him almost the whole day to get done.  By the time he fot back to his restaurant people were lined up.  It looked like the advertisements worked.  He rushes in to give his bodyguard RedFoot a hand.

Apache seen Orion at the counter. You could tell the man was really hungry.  After he placed his order of everything on the menu, Apache threw a apron on and started cooking like crazy while RedFoot took orders.  The Frydog was done first and Apache ran that over to where Orion took his seat. “I hope you enjoy, and I’ll bring everything out as it finishes cooking!  Oh yeah here’s a cola on the house.”  Apache handed the man the soda and hurried back to the kitchen to Handel other customers orders.  The rest of Orion’s food was cooking and Apache had some free time.  He instructed RedFoot to take the farbage out as he took the next order.

AlexanderKnight was standing at the counter waiting to order.  “How can we help you?” After he ordered 2 burgers Apache looked to the customer behind Alexander.  “I will be right with you!”  Apache then scurried back to the fryer to be sure there was enough frybread in the fryer.  After dropping a few more pieces of bread he slapped some burgers on top of the grill.  At this point RedFoot was coming back from taking out the trash.  Apache appointed job back to the kitchen.  Once the burgers were done RedFoot got Orion’s Indian taco and fry burger on one plate, and 2 burgers on another for AlexanderKnight.  Apache walked them over to the pair. Orion here’s the rest of your order and Alexander here’s your burgers. You two enjoy your meals!”  Apache then hustles back to help the last person in line.

Lushie waiter patiently as Apache tried to catch up with device.  Finally he gets back to the register, “Hello, what would ya like?”   Lushie ordered the fry burger with cheese and barbecue sauce, fries and a cola.  RedFoot heard the order from the kitchen and got the food started right away.  Apache followed Lushie outside to be sure the tables were wiped off.  “So how is Detroit treating you Lushie?”

RedFoot was not to far behind them with the food already cooked.  He handed it of to Lushie then Apache decided a little break was necessary. He pulled a peace pipe from his satchel and took a few puffs waiting around to see how many more customers would be coming tonight.

"Yo, give me something to get me better, for a 100 dollars" said a man from his car. Slinger approached him carefuly, then he retrieved a coke package hidden under a bean.
"For a hundred buck right ? " At the moment when he tooked his cash from his private customer, dollars where putted in a restaurant's promotion flyer. Slinger smilled enough to see his teeths.
"No doubts about apache's food ... A real heaven on earth, natives are good chiefs" said Hamilton (slinger) on his mind.
It was lunch time and "what a hotty day in Detroit" said Slinger to his friend when they sit front of one of Apache's tables. Slinger camed here many times, and each time is like if a kid visited DisneyLand.
"Chieeeef ! Two Doublecheese with large soda and fries potatoes."
Slinger's friend said " ... and for me, *hmm..* I would like to eat a local dish. Please can I have the dish of the day, this Rice and fish seems perfect"

Lushie made her way outside and was followed by the owner of the establishment who ensured the table she chose to sit at was wiped down and cleaned. He asked her how Detroit was treating her for her to reply, "Not bad at all" she said with a smile as she asked him how he was doing.

It was not long before another man came out with his chef hat on with her food which looked absolutely delicious. With the way, her eyes were lighting up anyone would think she had never seen the food before. The chef placed her order down onto the table, "Supurb, thank you" she said to him as she couldn't wait to get tuck into her food. Lushie sprinkled on a tiny amount of salt to her fries, opened up her cola and did just that, she got tucked right in and enjoyed every single mouth full. She didn't leave anything left over on the plate. She finished off her drink as she sent for the bill.

Lushie sat there for a little bit to allow the food to go down. The stars were sparkling and she felt satisfied with the food she had eaten. "A nice stroll" she muttered to herself as she paid the bill with a good tip. She got up from her seat and began to make her way back around the streets of Detroit.

I was waking up, and walking around. ( probably bed head something terrible, but had a rough night last night)  then smelled the most fresh bread I have ever smelled in my life.. next to the kitchen at my Mimi's house in France. Ooo, and it was fried...

I walked up and asked if I could get some rolled in cinnamon and sugar? I ordered a diet of whatever they had. Mmmm the tastes of home, sorta.

Apache was just getting back from a business trip in New York.  When he walked into his restaurant it looked as if RedFoot had his hands full.  More customers were lined up waiting to order. Apache felt bad for leaving his bodyguard/ cook in charge of the whole restaurant by himself.  Apache didn’t even get to take a seat before he decided to throw a apron on.  First in line was a member of his family Slinger.  When he approached the counter Red foot took the order and accepted the money, while Apache started dropping frybread in the fryer like crazy.  Noticing the line of people he knew he needed at least  8 pieces.  After slapping a couple burgers on the grill Apache walked up to the counter where slinger was ordering from.

”Any condiments on the burger?”

Apache then realized that he forgot to drop the fish in the fryer for slingers friend he ran over and did that right away along with a bag of fries, considering the line they would for surely need them.  Red foot gave Slinger and his friend there order number and they went to sit down and wait.

the next person in line made a interesting order.  Jewel wanted some frybread covered in sugar and cinnamon.  Apache never thought to try that but by the time he had it made up he definitely knew he would be trying it later.  He brought it out to jewel immediately after he finished rolling it in the mixture.

“I never thought to do this but it acually looks quite good I’m going to have to try it.  Enjoy!”

by this time Slinger and his friends food was done.  Apache made the double burger to perfection and put fries on the plate.  After bringing the food to his customers he ran back to grab the sodas that were ordered.

”Hope you guys enjoy, Slinger I’ll meet you back at the headquarters after I help RedFoot catch up on cleaning!”

Smiling at Apache, I knew it would be good, for sure....bread and cinnamon/sugar..almost like cinamon toast.. what is not is not to love. Maybe He will add it to his menu, who knows. As I was exiting, I told him, it was sooooo good. I also throughly enjoyed it very much, and I would be coming back when I was in town.

Greybeard found himself in Detroit for business an he couldn't get out of his mind that one railroad car he visited once and ate a fantastic meal. There was no question that he had to revisit the place. First of all, he was wondering if it was still open for business and ofcourse if the menu had something new to try.

He walked down the roads of the city but he wasn't too sure where exactly it was. He tried to remember retracing in his mind, the steps he took last time he was here and a few wrong turns here and some directions asked from people he found on the street, he finally found the place.

It was still open to his delight and exactly as he remembered it. He walked over and got inside and took a quick look at the menu even though he was already sure of his order.

"Hello there. I would like a fried burger with some lettuce, onions and cheese." Greybeard said placing his order.

"Any sauce in it?" The man asked and Greybeard understood that in his hunger, he forgot to give a complete order.

"Yes, please. Just some old fashion mustard and ketchup will do. Oh and give me a beer too."

Greybeard waited patiently for his order to be complete and after it was given to him, he stepped outside and started enjoying his meal. It was something extra delicious in these fast food places or "dirty" food as some liked to call them.

Apache was trying to get back on his feet from the last rush and maybe let RedFoot off a little early he had been working his ass off and he deserved a break.  So Apache instructed his bodyguard to clean the fryer befor he left.  Apache went out to the lobby and wiped tables and swept the floors.  After that was completed he decided to count down his register and get his deposit ready for tonight,  he was able to bring it by the bank on his way home from work.

When Apach finished counting RedFoot had already taken off.  That’s when the front door opened up and Apache seen a familiar face walk through the door.

”Greybeard your back for round two ay?  What brings you to the motor city?

Apache comprehended Greybeard order and began to cook it while they talked.  He dropped some frybread dough into the freshly cleaned deep fryer.  Then slapped a patty on the grill.  Over a decent conversation Apach pulled a beer out of the fridge and piped the top off handing it to his customer.  After Greamybeard too a seat Apach finished up how order and brought it out to him.

”Enjoy man, let me know if you need anything!”

Jack came across the old railroad car as it was different, he had perused the streets for some time trying to find a place to hang his hat and fill his belly. This place was just unique enough that it caught hie eye. The interior was culturally appropriate to the heritage of the owner, which Jack found intriguing. He had little exposure to the history of America, he could spend weeks in this place just to see something other than shades of grey and brown.

On entering, he removed his hat and spent a few moments appreciating the decor. He gradually made his way toward a table and seated himself, still enthralled by the subtle beauty of the delicate dream catchers and grand portraits.

Detroit wasn't a regular stop on his business trips, however a place like this could make an impression on him, almost like it could stamp into his soul. Hopefully the food tasted as good.

It was a new day and Lushie was still adjusting to her new life after moving to Detroit. She wasn't the easiest of people when it came to new routines and getting to know new faces of those she now worked for. But still, what she had to do to get by in her lifestyle was pretty much the same as the visiting of post offices around the country and so on. She was currently in her new home city, getting to know it better, despite the fact she had visited it many times before.

She had almost forgotten a place she liked until she was wondering through Downtown and could smell the aromas, "Now that's good food!" she said out loud a bit as she realised it was coming from FryBread Express. It was the first day in a few days where she felt the want to eat, never mind just because she had to. She made her way towards the old railroad car and entered the establishment. Her eyes were almost bigger than her belly and if she had her way she would eat almost everything on offer, "calm down" she muttered to herself as she went to make her order.

She was greeted by the server and asked what she would like, "Hello, I would like a Fry burger with cheese and a side of fries. I would love a coffee too but notice you don't do it? So in that case, why not, I will have a beer too please!" she said as she said what she would like. She totalled up she would owe $8.50 dollars and pulled out a $10 dollar note to pay up front as she waited "Keep the change for the tip" she insisted as she handed over the money.

As she waited she looked around and found a table free within the railroad car and told the staff working at the establishment that's where she would be. She went over to it to sit down and await her much needed food.

Fio steadied Chelsea as she stood up out of the cab. He tipped the man. He seemed more amused with the couple than anything but had kept to himself- the perfect kind of cabbie. The old train car made Fio smirk. It had been a while since he had been here. "Easy there. You sure you want a beer? I think soda. I'll get it you sit here." He said with a chuckle. He helped Chelsea into the same seat they sat in when discussing business with Apache the first time they were here.

He looked her over with a smirk. His eyes ending at her stiletto heels. "Ti amo." He growled before entering the shop. Chelsea giggled as she swayed back in her seat. Rusty had pulled a fast one on his wife. He was a hell of a bartender.

"Ciao Signore, I would like to order two- a..." His eyes shot outside to see Chelsea nodding her head to music that wasn't there at the time. " Let's make that one beer, one soda, and two Indian Tacos. Oh! Order of fries? So many napkins... Thank's uh here." Fio gave the man a few hundreds. RedFoot had a giant grin on his face, but he looked like he was going to question him for a moment.

"Keep it and tell your boss that Don Uccello was sorry he missed him." Fio waited on the food by the counter. He looked out to Chelsea and started for the door immediately. Just then a hand shot up from where she had sat with a thumbs up. Fio laughed as she sat back up and straightened herself out in the chair.

The food didn't take long to disappear once everything was ready. The Uccellos destroyed their meals, and Fio had guessed correctly on the number of napkins needed for the job. "Feel better, Tortora?" He said with a smirk over at his wife as she let out a burp.

"Vaffanculo! I was just about to say the same thing mio amore." Fio finished the last of his beer. "I took care of everything I came here before stepping foot in the old bar. Can you believe how far we've come?" One of the Irish Cream joints was picked with care from the cigarette case he carried. Fio sparked a match and puffed for a moment till it came to life. He passed it over to his wife who wasn't one to ever turn away smoke.

"Let's get a cab. What I'm saying is it's time to fly."

Apache had made his rounds to the other city’s in which he had business in. He felt bad because he is always leaving RedFoot in charge of the Frybread Express.  When he finally landed back in his hometown of Detroit the restaurant was his first stop.  He decided to go see if his bodyguard needed any help even before going to check in at the headquarters.  As he pulled up outside of his establishment he realized that there was quite a few people there.  This made Apache feel worst about leaving his bodyguard alone to handle everything.  It seemed like every time he left the place filled up.  He hurried inside to try to give him a hand.  As he was crossing the street a cab came speeding past almost hitting Apache.

When he entered he noticed people were sitting at tables waiting to get there order taken. RedFoot was at the fryer dropping the bread down into the oil to fry it.  Apache instantly walked over to ask RedFoot where he needed him. After getting orders to go and take the patient customers orders that’s exactly what Apache did.  First he walked over to JackMezzo who was patiently waiting while he enjoyed the spiritual decor.

“How is it going Don Mezzo?  Glad to see you could make it in!  Have you had a chance to look over the menu?  I’ll go grab you a beer to get started!”

Apache was thrilled to see the place was receiving so much business.  And decided to make a stop at another table before grabbing don Mezzo his beer.  He walked over to the line where Bron was standing waiting to order.  Getting to the register he looked to Brom.

”How can I help you today?  Can I offer you a Indian taco?”

After taking Broms order Apache showed him where he could take a seat and got JackMezzos beer and Broms drink to bring to them.  They were thrilled to have been properly helped.  Apache then goes back to the kitchen to drop the dons and Broms orders back with RedFoot.  While he was going to walk away RedFoot got Apaches attention to come back.

“Hey boss I just thought you should know that FioUccello the don from Seattle has just stopped by!  He through a few hundred dollars in the tip jar.  He told me to tell you hello! But he had to take off quick.  His wife was a little too tipsey I think!”

Apache was happy to hear that some old business partners had stopped by for lunch.  That’s who was probably in the cab that almost hit him as he was walking in.  Apache chuckled to himself.  That was when RedFoot pulled out $300 trying to hand it to Apache.

”No you keep it man you deserve it! You have been busting your ass around here.  As a matter of fact I think I’m going to get you some help in here.  I’m going to send TurtleNeck here tonight so you can have a day off!”

RedFoot looked excited to be able to head back to the headquarters and chill for the night.  He thanked Apache then handed him a tray with a FryBurger on it and a side of fries.

“This goes to Lushie, she’s over there sitting at the booth.  Can you grab her a beer as well?”

Apache quickly grabbed the beer and headed over to the booth while RedFoot started the other customers orders.  Apache places the burger and fries in front of Lushie and cracked open the can of beer for her.

”Glad to see you could stop by!  Let me know how everything is tasting for you?”

Apache headed back over to the fridge back in the kitchen and grabbed a beer for himself.  He then went into the office and took a seat.  Looking at the earning statement for this month he was very pleased.  He cracked the beer and guzzled down about half of it on the first drink.  He then pulled out his peace pipe and took a few puffs.

The morning was brilliant in Detroit. Jack's confidence was soaring as he rested easy in the FryBread Express, safe in the knowledge his operation was in good hands back home. As the beer hit the table in front of him, he stood and shook Apache's hand firmly, a broad smile on his face.

"Signore, this place is marvelous. A word I don't often use to describe anything, so hopefully you know I mean it."

He placed a hand on the Detroit Don's shoulder as they shook hands, before allowing him to leave for his duties. Jack drank satisfyingly from the beer served up and pulled out the menu. He had skipped breakfast on the flight, it wasn't all that appealing. There was also the allure of eating in the old rail car that helped him hold out until this moment.

"It's gotta be the Indian Taco..."

He murmured to himself, feeling his stomach agree at the same moment his eyes fell upon it.

"Fry dog, please."  She chirped brightly as she came up and placed her order.  Isabella fished out the required amount of cash to make her purchase before finally looking around.  She had come here a few times before and now the once just opening business was finally really becoming something noteworthy in the Detroit area.

She took her dog.  "Thanks so much."  She said, paying for her food and finding a place to sit down and enjoy it.  She watched as people came and went.  Smiling at the next few customers, inviting them without any words to come to join her for a chat.  She'd love a chance to get to know some of the city's residents a bit more.
