Player Commission Thread: Graduated tributes
Report Post Tip

I believe this will bring a lot of new ideas that could be branched off of, such as crew competitions for earnings and little cool ideas for CL's to use at their disposal.

I'm always for anything that can help the members be more active, or give them a morale boost of some sort during a down time, or even a war time :).

I will be voting yes for this when the time comes.

I'm with PC-Sticks on this. It adds value to the higher ranks, something that I believe is necessary from a gameplay perspective amid many complaints that ranks are quickly becoming less meaningful.

Taxation by essence is distastful in any form.  it always leads to unfair taxing and in essence unhappy people.  The logical person would say no taxation.

The sad fact is however, taxation is needed to support  the people who don't want to work to anymore... Sorry I got distracted by the evil government tax scam thingy. They said it was only temporary.  HA.   Anyway. Your idea is worthy of merit as long and only as long as the majority of players are willing to pay it. It is to easy to discourage a player from participating. Caution is the key here.  Tuning the procceeds back in some form would of course be good.

I'm going to add in at this stage that I've been having a think on this one and I'm inclined to agree with PC-Ralph's sentiments. There would need to be measures taken on how to asess a suitable cap on the level of power held by a CL over individual crew members. I just think there is perhaps too large a margin there to be taken advantage of - I'm not saying that I think this advantage would actually be taken by anyone, but I certainly believe it is fairer overall if this power/control has a limit.

Seems like a good idea in some ways, but seems a little harsh to just take all of a players money as a punishment. As mentioned earlier, it is yet more power to a crew leader. Crew leaders already have punishments, such as demotions, removing of a gun or killing a member.

If you want to tax a player less, why not just give them money back?

Also I agree some players earn less than others, it is fact. But they are players perhaps not online as much, with less time to offer to the game. They rank slowly, don't get much money on their own, and on top of that, you go increase their tax because they are not earning enough for you, why should they stick around on the website?

Granted some times crews offer tax free days if you earn over a set amount, and some members of a team work more (much much more) to obtain this. But should only thoes people get the tax free day? If so then you are no longer being as much of a team, so during a war should the ones that kept having to pay taxes say "we are not a team, why should I pro wack you"?
Besides the tax is a percentage, so if you are one of the high earners surely you are making more money for yourself anyway. A weaker player may have a tax free day but is unlikely to use it to the same potential as thoes who work harder.

I think if this did get put forward, it might be better to tax different for rankings (as mentioned earlier) rather than individuals.

Apologies for the second post, but I have thought a little more on the subject.
I see a lot of people agreeing with this idea, and happy with it but I have a question, purely out of interest. To look at this case from the other direction.

How would you feel about a tribute system, where a crew member decided what percentage he wanted to give to the crew?
This value would be private, and hidden from everyone.

Surely this is a much better system:

Firstly how does anyone know how much I am making out in the real world? I mean I could be hiding my money, I do not have another person by my side checking on what I am earning. And if I did, I slide him a few thousand dollars and he reports back I am tributing 30%

Secondly it would give the little guy something back, for example if you are held back for promotion drop your tribute value.

I am not exactly for this system, just wonder how people feel about the shoe being on the other foot so to say.

Honestly.. I like the idea of giving taxes to certain RANKS but not players in particular.. I feel thats a way to down new players & Cater to the more experienced.

I like it if a CL could set a tax % by RANK , not player.

Thanks! - P.S - I agree with SonOfABomb!

I don't like this idea. I can see many people taking advantage of it or using it just to give their besties a break.

The voting for this suggestion has passed.

PC-Cassiopeia has voted YES. [5] (I don\'t really see how it lowers a players choices of how they handle their money. I think it\'s a brilliant way to reward those that are generous to their crewleaders.)
PC-Flash-Fire has voted YES. [3] (Good idea)
PC-DeadlySin has voted YES. [2] (This gives crewleaders more control over who to reward for hard work, and not being forced to reward those who ride on other people\'s coat tails. I like it a lot.)
PC-Lola has voted YES. [2] (Positives outweigh possible negatives; overall, a good addition for the user base.)
PC-SpikeSpiegel has voted YES. [2] (Yeah, should be helpful.)
PC-Sticks has voted YES. [2] (I agree there are cons, but I believe the pros outweigh them by far.)
PC-Warrior has voted YES. [2] (As stated in discussion, the good outweighs the bad here and the users appear to want this.)
PC-Whitey has voted YES. [2] (This is a great suggestion, I think this will be a great addition)
PC-El_Nino has voted NO. [4] (I remain concerned about abuse)
PC-ralph has voted NO. [2] (Cedes more undeserved power to a crewleader and continues to lower the amount of choice a player has with their own money.)
PC-Ter has voted NO. [2] (I can see this being abused.)
PC-Adrian has not voted. [2]
PC-Patti has not voted. [2]
PC-Pratster has not voted. [2]
PC-Asylum has not voted. [0]
PC-Grin has not voted. [0]
PC-Sayyid has not voted. [0]
PC-Squishy has not voted. [0]
PC-Tech has not voted. [0]

Voting Totals, Yes: 20 (8), No: 8 (3), Undecided: 6 (8).

PC-Warrior, it is now your responsibility to write a final summary for the coders and to create/edit the wiki article for the suggestion.
