GAME CHANGE: Notification of someone gunning for you Started by: Squishy on Nov 02, '18 22:03

Starting soon, if someone attempts to wack at you in the same city but incorrect district you will receive a personal.

The message you receive will be catered to the comparison of the shooters stealth and your info.

I think I like this. 😎 Good feature imo

I thought I was going to be dead. You scared me!

Report Post Tip

Make the rogue/hitman jobs harder. First 200 equiv now this. Fantastic!

I should have posted on the original suggestion as to why this is a bad idea, but this is what I get for being lazy.  All the same I'll just make a few points.

To start, what kind of time frame are we looking at.  is the personal sent out for 10 seconds as a notification the disappear?  Is it sent 10 seconds after someone shoots at you?  There are a number of questions I have that would determine my opinion.

For one I don't like this idea because it takes away from the hard work and careful planning of the war runners or rogues alike.  I know many don't have much experience with either of the subjects so I'll give a little insight.

When your planning to war or rogue it's basically the same process.  One of the more important factors is finding everyone on your list.  This new feature directly takes away the surprise element of launching such an attack as a city or a solo operation.  Let's say someone wanted to take out a Godfather and make some change on their own.  Now if they don't have a team of people on absolutely perfect vision they run the major risk of being found out before they can take their shot.  This directly puts the powers currently at the top (such as myself) in an even more advantageous position.  This is especially true if the statement is giving out letters.  That I think should be eliminated entirely.

My second point is an RP aspect to this.  I know this is less of a solid argument and not really my domain but I figured I would throw this in.  From an RP stand point this makes no sense.  Lets take Chicago for example.  The South Side is actual miles away from The Loop in the real world even in the 1930's.  For the bigger cities such as New York and Los Angeles this is even more true.  You aren't even in the same zip code.  How are you going to hear someone shooting at you?

My logic is asking how someone essentially miles away could get a message that someone has basically pointed their gun at thin air and know it was meant for them...I would understand a delayed notification like this

"you got word from (person who say attacker point gun at thin air) that (person who pointed gun at thin air) is out for blood"

This doesn't exactly say they are coming after you just that they are a madman, and IMO these we should only be sent and recieved within the family, why else would someone feel the need to tell you they saw someone point their gun at thin air

There is no logical way otherwise that you could know them aiming a gun at thin air is meant for you unless they insert a public whisper/yell

Report Post Tip

So, if someone refreshes 500 times on a target in, say, 30 minutes, how many of those will be notified?

Also, will the first and second and third and so on and so forth personals always will be the same if the stealth and vision values of the two remain the same?

Report Post Tip

Couldn't under this system, someone on pure stealth go around causing people to get paranoid by shooting at them in the wrong district?

For example, a Boss from one city goes to another and shoots at their GFC in the wrong district then flies back, repeat ad nauseam.

Can't say I'm a huge fan of this.

I don't like this. Can we get it removed?
Report Post Tip

Or change it to they are not in this district/city for the shooter and for the person getting shot at, nothing? Why are we all getting spider senses?

Report Post Tip

Well using the logic here, you should not be told they are in the vicinity, because they are not as you say districts in real time are miles apart if they are not in that district you should just get a user is not in the district message, because how would the shooter know that they are in the vicinity if they are miles apart? You either keep this feature or remove the Somewhere in the vicinity they both work the same and you can not have one without the other imo

Report Post Tips: 2 / Total: $60,000 Tip

Ok then change it to not in the same area as you. Why should I get told who is shooting at me while I'm in another district? How can I see/ hear that far? It makes no sense.

Report Post Tip

I actually like this change.

Report Post Tip
Lumen how can you see they are in the vicinity? You have not complained about that because it benefits you
Report Post Tip

If we are going to go down the realism route can we add realism to everything in the game? Realism has been a problem for awhile now and I see many community members wanting realism in the game play, maybe it is time to start figuring out what doesn't make sense and change it to make sense?

Just a thought anyways

Report Post Tip

I agree with yeti, redrocket, and kristoff.  This should be removed its not realistic, and its just going to cause problems.  It all ready did cause a problem someone got shot doing it as a joke.

Report Post Tip

Oh one last thing to add.  There is also an advantage issue for PH and Detroit since they have 3 districts.  During a war if someone comes to shoot me in Chicago without vision "You know ProjecT is nearby but it appears they are not in your immediate vicinity."  Its real simple you just fly to the ONLY other district two seconds later and kill me.  If you are shooting a target in PH or Detroit and get the district wrong, now you have to guess.  Guess wrong now you have to wait 5 minutes, they can either fly or get you.  So there is a HUGE advantage issue for those two cities.

Report Post Tips: 2 / Total: $40,000 Tip

Coltrane and Space-pole what exactly do you like about this change?  Not trying to call you out.  I just don't believe blind +1 or -1 on this discussion doesn't really add anything.  With the conversation being overwhelmingly negative I would like to hear what people think would be good about it.

Report Post Tip

Honestly, im not too sure, as fence sitting as it sounds. i think my logic would have been from a war perspective. i think it changes the dynamic, more or so if you can see who is "refreshing" especially if you are in the position where your bgs are capped and you can cap shoot. i think knowing who is refreshing/trying to shoot might dynamically change things. I dont think thats so bad tbh.

also possibly for the odd rogue shot, although moving district fast enough might not even combat this. but as the person trying to shoot it will, again change the thought process. maybe the person is on full stealth, you cant see them;

This would then do one of two things for me;

1. the rogue/would need more people on full info to help. A more thought provoking process might have to take place

2. if its a lone rogue taking a random shot, the rogue knows that the message will be sent. They then know they have limited time to make it happen. panic COULD set in. etc etc

Also, i think from a whole mechanic thing, game wide- IF people wanted to mix things up/create hysteria they could do so. knowing that the person is in a different district and the person purposely sending out this wack message is on full stealth could create for some interesting conversations. I think it also does add some more  aspects to stealth vs info.

For me anything in the game that can bring the "WHAT IF" factor i will always welcome with open arms. I also think that if we was in a different time period to now you might get a few more different responses. Its a very era subjective and emotive thing.
