Wars and Rogues - The Basics Started by: ConstanceBonacieux on Dec 30, '18 21:04

Okay, so you got a mass mail saying "War!" or "****** has gone rogue!" your Upper Structure will be waiting for you to reply in these instances, but mostly a mail will be sent out with instructions.

As soon as you see these mass mails regarding wars, takedowns or rogues, it is crucial that you HOLD flights and shots, it does not matter if there are 3000 Durdens running amok, your shot may be needed.

With a rogue, you should usually head straight to the home city district as your HQ forts will offer you more protection unless the rogue has a huge cannon. You will be instructed by your Crewleader or HSL on what your instructions are, so continue to hold your flights and shots.

Now, war these days can be rather short, like takedowns, or they can drag on for days. The most frustrating thing during this time was the number of people that decided to shoot at Durdens while a handful of people did their duty by helping with the war effort. The fastest way to anger your leader and those in charge of the war planning is to waste a shot on an MIA/RIA/IA/NPC when the enemy is still alive.

During wartime, or when rogues with cannons are mucking about it, can become chaotic. Don't fret if you have not heard a reply from your Crew Leader or Hit Squad Leader, both will be busy arranging stuff. I know for some that war can be exciting a way to prove your worth to your family. If your leader tells you to stay put, then stay put. They may have a need for you but don't do something stupid like shoot without first checking with your leader if the shot is legit or not.

Some of these war folk will be safe-listed for whatever reason...  Usually, it’s because they have good connections, have a big gun, or simply the fact that they are friends with those on the other side.

IRC/The Lounge:

Now another thing... IRC/Lounge is mostly the place to go in times of war as it is fast communication. You can access IRC from here. ' https://mafiareturns.com/comm/lounge/  or here https://mafiareturns.com/comm/mibbitout.php?client=kiwi or you can use a standalone client like mIRC, XChat, YChat, and IceChat. If using a standalone client the server name to connect to is irc.mafiareturns.com.  You will be given a channel name to join ( /join #ENTERCHANNELNAMEHERE ) or you'll be invited to one. If you are told there is a keyword the command to join is /join #channelnamehere keywordhere.

Protection:

If you are pro'ed, you will have protection for 4 hours, the moment you shoot will be the moment you lose your protection. You should only shoot with a pro'er available so that you are protected.

Now for people new to this world,  I know how exciting your first war can be. We have been there ourselves, as has everyone else. Always follow orders, don't go ham thinking you can blast this person or that person. We give you orders for a reason. so follow them as they are crucial to a smooth running war and to your survival.

PRO'ING

What is pro'ing A Pro wack or protection wack is a shot fired at your hitters Cls etc they are shots that are expected to miss though there is sadly always that 1% chance they hit.

As much as it will pain you that 1% is a risk that we take and accept to protect you if you unlucky enough to shoot your hitter you can feel bad but put it behind you and continue on with your job we still need you.

Pro'ers offer protection for the hitters at the risk of there own life. So don't ever think we don't value you as a pro'er as we do we are not disrespecting you in any way. During the May war that brought down Deadlysin 300+ kill guns where used as pro'ers at times. So its never a slap in the face if you're asked to pro and trust me we feel the pain when we lose a pro'er.

YOUR ANSWERS

Info folk: Those on info it is vital that you guys soon as you get a message to inform your HSL or CL asap we need you guys and we love our info folk. You guys rock \m/

That is no way a swipe at other answers it just info folk are vital in finding stealthy people. Now depending on how the war is going and what gun strengths are the soldiers will be dived into groups.

For example, a 60-150 shot gun may be asked to shoot ******* BGs. This also is not disrespecting you we need those BGs gone asap so our cannons can kill the enemies before they kill us. Bigger guns may be asked to shoot specific targets, but every little bit helps in a war no matter how small a part you play in it.

Some Do's and Dont's

EX we are at war with LA you are sitting in LA having shot ***** BGs you are pro'ed your pro'er was killed and even though your shot timer is open sit under that fucking pro. You can still help till we find you another pro'er light a Molotov and hammer the fuck out of ****** forts it uses your pp timer and you don't lose your pro. While you don't get huge experience it reduces the forts so ****** pro'ers have no place to hide.

Now as I said some wars become very chaotic another thing is to switch off your OX timer as in some wars you will be asked to idle if you're in your home city the enemy can find you by using OCs. In large wars the targets shot are those online so if you're asked to idle it is to keep you alive and vital you switch off your OC no point in idling and being picked up for an OC.

NEVER EVER decide that you can shoot at Durdens, MIAs, and RIAs if you are protected from being shot during a war. It’s not a good idea and you will be punished after the war has ended. A +1 to your gun from one is all you will get and chances are an enemy soldier will splatter your brains over the sidewalk anyway we lose a soldier from being an idiot not cool.

The only exception to that rule is you have work school etc in the morning your gonna hit the hay we understand we may get you to shoot something before you bed down so we can reset your pro.

REFRESHING

What is Refreshing? Ok for you noobs you're asked to pro told who it is the ask you to refresh on them.

You go to wack make sure the name is in wack properly switch off the safety and click away not to fast not to slow. The message should say your target is protected or not in this city.

that's cool it means he/she is still under their pro wack. Now you want about 3 of those before the message you're going to fast. Try and keep in your grove once the hitter fires you will get "FAILURE you failed to wack *******."  You have done your job well. Thank you.

If you're unlucky you will see "Success Dat Bums Swimming with Da Fishes!" Which means you killed the person you were trying to protect this is NEVER your fault its an accident us hitters accept that this can happen its part of the price we have to pay to protect you.

Another message you may get is “You wave your gun around foolishly were *****once stood people look at you surprised etc” which means one of the enemy hitters was refreshing him also and beat you to the pro again not your fault its just bad luck.

The key thing is communication. Always talk to your hitter or pro'er make sure you are both on the same page and both in the same district it the hitter is pro'ed the pro'er should start refreshing keep refreshing till told otherwise or fails to hit.

When it comes time to pro a hitter wait until they have shot, then shoot them. If you are re-proing a hitter that is still protected continuously shoot at them until you see the "Failure" message or one that says you've been thrown in jail, or a wackback message. Hopefully not the "Success" message.

There are many more tips out there but these are just some to help you understand what is needed to be done in times of conflict wars or rogues can be stressful but if we work as a team we can get shit done.

On a side note war is a great way to prove your worth and also shows us who can follow orders it is these people who can be hand-picked for Auth as a crew leader or future hand positions down the road.
