Always Business, it never changes Started by: Joey_Pavanno on Jan 24, '19 12:26

Joseph walked the street, being followed by some people that he knew were not associated with him. He wondered what the problem was until he stopped, he had nothing to fear, he was no longer apart of the life and turned around to face the man with a small grin twitching at his lips, almost instinctual.

"Gentleman and Lady, to what do I owe the tailing for a few blocks now? You seem to not have some kind of intent, you guys may need to work on your hiding. I saw you guys at the hot dog cart a block back. What do you need from me?"

Both of the followers looked at him with flushed faces before bowing their heads, knowing they had been caught out and could no longer pretend like they were going about their daily commute. They stepped forward, showing no signs of hostility planned towards him. Something that he appreciated greatly.

"We're here to assist you Joseph Pavanno. We knew your Nephew, Mael, and Brother, Charlie. We worked with both of them, enjoying the climb that they both went through. Both of them had been cut down in their prime before they were really ready to enjoy the roles they were thrust into."

Joe's face went blank and began to wonder who these two were that knew so much about his family that he could only ever hope to hear. He found it quite sad that these two knew much more than him. Instead, he decided to step forward and eye the two as if he was giving them an interview.

"You know more about my Nephew and Brother more than I do, had I heard of his existence I would have come here to guide him on the right path, allowing him to go elsewhere and not get involved with such a life that he would not be the best for him. It was something that I still not find suitable for him, yet he is a Pavanno and it seems that at young ages, we were all thrust into this world, whether we wanted it or not."

Joe allowed a small chuckle before he turned his head, remembering what Charlie and he himself had gone through to get involved with the life. He turned back, facing his followers and shrugging.

"You know who I am, I don't know you, I can learn along the way. I'm going to be opening a few legitimate businesses in Detroit, I'm going to need some backing, you know anyone that can help with that?"

The two looked at one another as small grins twitched at their lips and they shrugged as if motioning that they knew of somebody.

Joe stood outside the offices of KennyRusso, he looked back to Koneko and Cain who were both clearly enjoying this as if he was new to this. He sighed, stepping forward and knocking on the doors, waiting for someone to answer so he could get down to business and see if this esteemed Russo could help him out after all.

"You know, if this ends up being some kind of shit prank, you guys will not be working with me."

As he said this, Koneko and Cain's faces went pale before they heard Joey start laughing and they knew he was joking. All too soon they had sobered continuing to wait for Kenny Russo, wondering if the man was up to do business with a Pavanno.

Kenneth Russo is in his office, doing paperwork for his new crew, he is calculating how much money he has left after building a HQ in Corktown and fortifying it. He opens his drawer and pull up a flask of whiskey, he takes a sip then gets back to work. After 30 minutes, he hears a knock on the door and looks at his most trusted bodyguard Jimmy, who is sitting in a couch in the other side of the room reading a book and having a drink. Kenny always brings Jimmy along, everywhere he goes. Except for the bathroom. And the bedroom.

He tilts his head at the door's direction while looking at Jimmy and the man knows what to do, he closes his book then gets up and walks slowly towards the door. He opens it and sees that is the new associate of the Ligambi family, Joey_Pavanno. He lets the man in and quickly search him for weapons or anything that could harm his boss. Kenny quickly gets up and moves his head in a manner that means "no".

"He is with the family, Jimmy. You can let him hold his piece." He says while walking towards the little fridge he has in the office. He opens it and grabs two bottles of beer. "Take a seat Mr. Joey. Uncle Joe told me about you." He says pointing at the chair in front of his desk, he cracks up both bottles and places in front of Joey, he takes a seat on the other side of the desk, and takes a long sip from his beer.

"So, what do I owe the pleasure?"

While Joe was not used to the way that business was done in the states. He certainly did not like being searched as the man was about to do, instead, he was called off by the man in charge, there he was, Kenny Russo. He seemed to be an alright guy. Maybe a little serious, he seemed to be alright as Joe watched him.

"Well, I just want to say that if his hands even got an inch closer than you would be witnessing a brawl right in front of you."

Joe raised an eyebrow cheekily looking towards Jimmy with his classic smirk before walking over, taking the seat that was offered by Kenny. He eyes the beer for a while, he knew that bourbon would be off the table and that was something that made him sulk a little. He took the beer and took a cautious sip as the taste made his face scrunch up as if he had drunk something bitter.

"And that is why I have always been a bourbon man. Never liked this stuff, eh, beggars can't be choosers in times like this."

Joe placed the beer down, making sure that he did not drink anymore. He eyed KennyRusso once again, wondering if this was the type of move that he would be willing to make in the business world. Not exactly his type of business, either way though, he wanted the man to at least hear him out.

"Well, Mr. Russo, I have a couple of businesses getting lined up to make the Motor City glamorous and much more lucrative than the Sin City. I am wanting to open up a Casino, right here. Of course, I need licenses and a whole heap of legal shit. I hear that you have some connections that can make some of these things easier for me. Would you be willing to help lighten the load?"

Joe asked with hidden excitement, the tone that he was using was not one of desperation, it was someone that wanted to launch their business into the stars and was willing to give others a slice to make it happen.

"Sorry, my cousin drank all the bourbon." Kenny cracks a little smile then eyes Joey, up and down. He reaches for his pockets and grabs a pack of cigarettes, he takes one out then places the pack on the table. "You can get one if you'd like." He says, with the cigarette in his mouth. He reaches for the matches and lit his cigarette, taking a long drag of it. He puffs the smoke away from Joey because he doesn't know if he is a smoker or not.

"Sorry about Jimmy." He takes a look at the bodyguard who got back to reading his book, Jimmy lifts his eyebrows then opens up a wicked smile, Kenny shows him the middle finger while both men laugh a little bit. "He really worries about my safety, not only because I pay him. We are long time friends, but now that he knows you, he will never search you again."

He listens to the business proposition and makes a curious face. He heard about the man's brother, Charlie. He takes a sip from his beer, finishing it, he places it on the floor then open his drawer, he takes a big piece of paper with a lot of notes on it. He starts reading it a bit before replying.

"Pavanno, right?" He asks the man. "So, are you related to Charlie Pavanno? I heard he had a Casino called Tops somewhere here in the States." He reaches for his drawer again, this time taking a notes book on his hand, he opens it and takes a look, it is where all his contacts are in, politics, police officers, friendly mobsters from another city - and their address and phone number. Kenny rips of a blank piece of piece of the notebook, grabs a pen and starts to write.

"Here mate." He slides the piece of paper next to Joey_Pavanno"If you follow in your kin footsteps, I don't see why not. The Pavannos have a great name regarding Casinos in this thing of ours. This paper is a contact of mine, a politician. He has strong connections with the mayor, say the word "Caralho" and he will know that I sent you.

He takes grabs his flask again and takes a sip of whiskey, he adds. "I can help you fund this thing. But I will be overlooking the operation closely. I will also talk to Uncle Joe, he has lots of connections all over the country.

"Well damn your cousin then, many men like Bourbon, it's like honey to some and cocaine to others. Me? I'm in the middle, luckily enough."

Joe chuckled before sighing, looking at Jimmy as the two of them seemed to have the odd bond that his security team had with one another, he looked back noticing how they seemed to stay by the door and waited for him. He nodded in acceptance and nothing else, not wanting to go over this while he was discussing business. He wanted to be focused and that could never happen if his mind wandered like an adolescent child. He looked back to Kenny as he began to ask questions regarding his name.

"Ah yes, my family name. We are mostly known back in England, it's good to know that my half-brother made such a good impression. He left his own mark and now I guess, I have to leave mine. My brother, we did not talk much and I did not know much of his ideas, he was a man on a mission I was told. He always wanted to prove something, he seemed ready to defeat anyone and everyone that challenged him. I guess that is why he opened up a Casino, it was the next biggest thing to a Palace or Castle. He wanted a monument of just how great he was."

Joe chuckled, wondering what would have happened had he met his brother and they worked together, maybe things would have happened differently. He did not know the answer to such theories and he would never know, right now? He needed to work on his business and took the piece of paper regarding the mayor that would help him with the Casino licenses and perhaps a few bribes of allowing alcohol to be sold in a few of his establishments.

"If Don Ligambi needs to be informed then I understand how this works. If you want to look over the operation that is all good Kenny, anything else? If not, it's been a pleasure and I'm sure that we will have more business together KennyRusso."

Kenneth listens to Joey_Pavanno talking about his brother and nods in respect, he never met Charlie himself but he has heard a lot of his name and his accomplishments in Philly and the other cities around the United States, he pulls the ashtray next to him and hits the cigarette on it, still paying full attention to what Joey is saying.

"Aye, Charlie sure made a lot of money and left a legacy." He drives the cigarette to his mouth then takes a drag, puffing the smoke out while talking. "We Russo's are all the same shit. Hope you Pavannos are too, if you manage a Casino like your brother, it'll be a good investment."

He put out the fire of his cigarette on the ashtray, looking at the spark set other cigarette buts on fire, he looks at the smoke going up then grabs Joey's beer and pours some in the ashtray. "Fucking thing, hate when this happens." He takes a long sip from Joey's bottle of beer then gets up, he signals Jimmy to get his coat and the man do so, bringing to him. Kenny dons his coat then looks at Joey.

"So, I'm off then. Talk with Uncle Joe about this thing. He will sure pitch in, the man is all about money." He lets out a giggle. "Is there anything else you want to talk about?"

Joe stood up, motioning for his guards to get the door to which they did with no questions asked as he turned back to face KennyRusso with a smile twitching at his lips as he heard of Giuseppe_Ligambi and his interest with money. He wondered if he did have anything else to discuss with Kenny and it was nothing of importance, they could discuss at a later date if need be.

"Nothing else Kenny, business on my end will be sorted soon enough, I'll get right on it. If you want, I do have some other businesses that will need your seal of approval, so to speak. We'll speak more on that later, our business is concluded, it was a pleasure meeting you Mr. Russo. I hope to continue this business relationship in the future."

Joe walked out of the offices of the Russo Crew Boss and whistled for a taxi, knowing that the day was not over yet and money was still to be made. He looked back at Koneko and Cain, he would need to find Mr. Waltz, he had a feeling that he could use some assistance from him in the near future.

"Don't worry, I'll get him, get inside and head back to the hotel."

Joe watched Koneko walk off as if they had a conversation, he was sure that they did not, was he that easy to read? Surely not, maybe he should work on his facial expressions, otherwise, he would be read like a book.
