Joe had just walked out of a local poker game, he had just earned a couple thousand dollars and was looking to bank the cash, he knew that his cash flow had been a little, well, shit. He was not the money maker anymore, he decided to do a couple of games and see how it went, overall he did well and ended up winning the games, it was not that much of a win. He started to walk down an alley, passing a couple of wiseguys along the way. They nodded as he passed, clearly recognizing him, he did nothing but nod in appreciation back at them. It was only then that Joe started to feel like he was being followed, he did not feel safe all out of a sudden and clutch his bag of money closer to his chest, he looked around, noticing how the street lights seemed to flicker on and off like a cliche horror, he started to walk faster and did not want to get mugged all of sudden, the streets of Detroit were filled with hardened criminals and he was not going to be caught up in their games of mugging. Joe turned down another alleyway as he continued his speedwalking, he knew that he was going to be caught if he did not start working faster her, otherwise, he was going to be on the opposite end of a gun or worse, a barbed-wire baseball bat and he would rather not be on that end. He had turned a corner, thinking he was safe, he leaned against the wall, catching his breath as he knew that he had probably lost his pursuer or whoever had been following him. "Thank god, I survived and no one needs to know that I got scared of a couple of flickering street lights, heh." |

Wally wasn't always traveling across the nation, but he had needed to take a trip to the motor city in order to make a pickup. It wasn't too often that he could get some state or the art supplies for the kitchen in his pizza place. Word had come along that there was a good shop in the area for him to make some purchases. A good lead like this was never one to pass up so here he was zooming on in... He could feel his speed draining a little bit for some reason as he was making his way down a sidewalk. This was an odd sensation so he slowed to a normal walking pace before stretching out a hand to lean up against the brick building to his left. The street lights flickered all around him giving him that creepy vibe. "What the heck...?" He mumbled to himself. Across the way he spotted a man clutching something in an alleyway and walking at a quick pace. It wasn't an unusual sight this time of night, but it definitely grabbed his attention. His way of life had changed from the 'good guy fight' to the 'bad guy life' recently so it was hard for him to ignore what might be an individual in need. Maybe he'd just watch from a distance and see if anything happened... |

Night was falling at the end of a wonderfully productive day. Meetings were held, talks enjoyed, deals struck... Even a couple crimes just for fun committed. But the sport, it seemed was not to be over with quite yet. The young Dona, Ellie of Chicago made her way through the streets as night fell. She had heard of a small Poker game being held and she thought some sport could be had. Now the thing about the little Don was when she tended to take someone's hard earned money... Especially from someone that hailed from the same way of life that she did, she tended to return the ill gotten funds in an attempt to make a connection and entice interaction. This was truly what the little fuzzball craved... Adoration and interaction... And typically she received it! Sometimes she herself took the time to enjoy these poker games, but tonight, she was stalking it instead. She knew that it was winding down as person after person was dismissed from the table with their pockets severely lightened. Ellie knew that the last man standing would have a decent little bunch of change at the end so she would simply wait. Soon enough the man of the hour emerged and she immediately set up her stalking of her 'prey' as it were. But he was on to her game it seemed... This would not be a simple grab and run. He was not holding it in his pocket where she could snag it easily. But Ellie never did rely intently upon speed alone. It was usually her wits and unique physiology that got her what she wanted. So she would follow the man. If he looked back, she would quickly dart into a shadow or under a handy hidey hole... Something that got her out of sight and hopefully out of mind. But this man was not slacking in his protection of his winnings... Not in the least. But finally he turned a corner. Ellie didn't need to see where he went, she knew his scent just from the time she had spent following him. She easily took that turn as well keeping on his tail. Finally he paused... Leaning up against the wall. Perfect! Ellie wasted no time and leapt nimbly upon the windowsill beside the man. She didn't bother to hide her presence. She began to chitter softly to him in greeting, twining about in the most cute of fashions before sitting up on her haunches to look up at him inquiringly. She loved interactions after all. Depending on how he responded after that would dictate her next move. Ellie moved quickly to scramble right up onto his shoulder, nuzzling him sweetly as if she wanted nothing more than to be his friend. If he acted positively she would continue this act until she playfully climbed to where his hand was and grab at as much of the money as her small teeth could grab. If he were to react negatively, trying to hit, shoot, swat, or otherwise dislodge the fuzzy little playful critter, she would up her timetable and go right for his money in hopes that he would drop it in surprise. In either eventuality, the small ferret would take off like a shot hopefully with a clump of bills in her teeth, running as fast as those tiny legs could carry her, weaving this way and that as she sought a hiding place to lose the man who was likely to chase after her at this point. |

Now, Joe was not the most aware when he was scared and he knew that much, only he could not and would not believe that a Ferret had placed itself on his shoulder, he stared at it for a while before looking away, wondering if anyone had left their pet around here. Only it was kind of late and he had heard of an odd family in Chicago is led by a Ferret, he looked at the ferret with a tilted head, his eyes wide and bright, he wondered if it could tell that he was incredibly suspicious of this, so-called stray, animal. He narrowed his eyes, it seemed too intelligent for that of a normal stray-animal, it was clearly on his shoulder for a reason and he decided to softly pet it. He shrugged, he wondered what could it hurt, it certainly could not hurt him with the tiny paws that it had. He smiled cheekily, he pets the ferret once again softly. He started to walk down the street, the lights no longer flickering now, as if the moment of suspense had passed and he was safe from the danger. "Now, what's your name? Wait, wouldn't you be in a cage? Why are you out freely?" It was then that he remembered a small little piece of information about the infamous Ferret-Don of Chicago, he had remembered that she roamed freely, going from place to place as she explored. He looked at the ferret on his shoulder, she couldn't be! No...way, he tilted his head away from the ferret, gulping as he did so. He suddenly remembered that no one was around as he stared down the infamous ferret of Chicago, was he going to die? He doubted it, still, he was worried and a bit terrified of the supposed innocent-looking ferret. "Well then, where do we go from here Don Ellie? A pleasure to meet you indeed." He stated with a slight stutter in his tone, he clutched his money tighter, he could see the mischievous look in her eyes and he did not trust it for a single second. |
