An annoyed calcified hero enters the busy mainstreet Friends, I beckon you closer. He stands patiently, clearly annoyed about something. Possibly because j0ngott1 is having his period, possibly not, hard to say really. Something has come to my attention of late which is really fucking irritating me. The social etiquette of the new born gangster. Now aside from the fact that as per fucking usual only about 10% of people actually request an invite in a legible, understandable, respecful fashion I now see mafioso asking multiple leaders for invites. Guess what, most of these people are not even newly turned criminal businessmen, they are long lived bloodline sons and daughters. So, I did a little research, I went through my mail and compared requests vs current leaders and the time of their requests. Afterall the one time you might try to excuse this idiotic folly is when one had but seconds before he became an illegitimate target of rule breaking shooters. TOTAL SHOCKER not a single one was even close to being under threat from a hyperactive gun. When you request an invite it should be because you have closely read up on the family, considered your skills and attributes vs what they require, decided this is the one choice for your current incarnation and then and only then do you approach. Given this logical decision making process one would expect a fair response from the leader and 95% of the time you would get in. In the minute scenario where you don't get in for some reason I personally would expect you to die and then try again with your new persona but again I understand that my old school principals are far from ingrained in the average mafioso so I could see a 2nd invite attempt elsewhere. However, when I have not even answered your mail yet and you have hopped off to the next closest leader with your request I get a touch fucking annoyed. It's disrespectful, untimely and ultimately it annoys someone significantly more positioned than yourself at this time. Whilst I'm not going to say right now that I will kill you for this infraction I am going to take this up with the other leaders and I am going to abuse every person that invovles me in such poor behaviour. I open this discussion to all and everyone but would particularly like to see other leaders opinions here as personally I'd like to start bringing back the ways of honour and respect if only from this very bottom up approach. So take this as an early warning, one way or another, I'm going to do something about this. That is all, POC. |

a1capon3 hears the discussion from his den. He wasn't going to explain why he was in his den. But in a den he was. Until he heard this discussion. Then he was in the streets. Dearest Cheese, You know my thoughts on this already. The invitation process has been significantly cheapened, to the point where one just looks for the nearest bullet shield. I however don't think we should kid ourselves into thinking the standard was higher in days gone by or in the old world either. The only time anyone puts forth real effort into an invite request is when they have an ulterior motive, Read: rogue, or if that organization is nearly full, making it difficult to be accepted otherwise. Until a leader decides they aren't going to accept the basic one liner or a slight variation of it, this trend will never be bucked. However, people overstepping their boundaries and influencing policy, directly or otherwise, have taken this chance away from us. I find this a sad state of affairs, as what my ancestors and I always prided themselves on, was never giving away a cheap invite. But as you can see from a stroll to the various coffee shops, or a wander down OOC Avenue, people don't much care for the standards you want to uphold within your organization. In fact, they are viewing it first and foremost as a shelter from bullets. a1capon3 gestures to his sad face. Notice that the cries are of 'we need more crews so fewer people will die' and not 'we need more leaders because worthy people are being overlooked'. Due to this being the popular opinion and in fact the belief of most of our fellows, is it surprising they aren't thinking about whom to join? Really, what is the difference between us to them? We are all going to stave off those wishing to train on those without sponsors. |

TheWeasel was walking down the sidewalk when he stopped to sniff the air. It smelled of fresh bread. There must be a bakery nearby, he thought. He scratched his balls when no one was looking, and continued on down the road to see a piece of talking cheese speaking to an assembled crowd. The invite process has definately been cheapened. This correlates with many other aspects which have changed. In our haste to protect every warm body off the boat, it seems that any measures to get them into a family is considered kosher. They no longer need to put forth any effort at all, or even show the respect that you are bringing up, Mr Cheese. Agreed, it has never been that hard to get into a family, however, there was a time when those who expected to get somewhere in the world did voluntarily go the extra yard, in order to impress from the first meeting. I completely agree with your assertions, but I think we should take things one step at a time if we are going to reform the process. Uncle Nicky would have shot anyone asking for an invitation after asking him for one, before he had a chance to respond. We can't go from where we are now back to those ideals. We are just now moving away from blatant member whoring; sending an unsolicited invitation, being acceptable. Perhaps next we can work on waiting for the new immigrants to actually approach the leader first, rather than vice-versa. If we can realize that tremendous achievement, then maybe we can work on the ethics of invitation soliciting. We are a long ways away from it right now, but if you can do your part to get us back there, you will have made a great contribution to this thing of ours. |

Apparantly new mafioso have 48 hours and yet here lie 6 gangsters all dead before then and not one, except for maybe Pete family member dead. Now whilst i understand that one or two may have done wrong, surely crewleaders do not have excuses for all these deaths. Yes yes, if your not getting the W/S handed in blah de blah de blah, well then your not trying particularly hard to enforce the rules, trying offering incentives or something. Anyways, my two cents and totally irrelevent to the topic in hand, my bad. |

Well Ecko, as much as I appreciate your comments I don't see what they bring to this discussion. I personally chased after a number of those w/s and tried to follow up... I don't accept your phraseology to be honest, it's a two way process, sure the crew leaders must punish offendors and set examples but mafioso must start taking accoutability for their own actions. This is not a new rule that I'm proposing by the way, it was standard procedure not so long ago. No more 48 hour chat on this discussion please, start a new poster or speech if you want to go after that. |

| PrinceofCheese, I don't exactly know where you are coming from, due to me not being in your position, but then again I do see where you are coming from. It can be very annoying to people in power when fresh off the boats ignore the rules of respect and do something of this sort. There is nothing we can really do for this disrespect right now since we can't control every person's actions, but as far as I see it the only thing we can do is not invite anyone that does this and let them die unsponsored for their disrespect. Some people have forgotten the rules of respect and do what they want and don't expect any consequences. | |

ok, yeah I see the fact that people do make multiple requests and the like, but can you honestly do anything about it? No You see, if they take sanctuary in another family the only thing you would be able to do is convince the leader to kill the person, but who would honestly take the life of their member for such a minuscule action? No sane leader would. Now I suggest (not threaten or anything of the like, just a friendly suggestion) that you not make threats, even if you are a cl. Everyone knows threats cause death, even if it is on a gangster, or goomba, or whatever. Glad you voiced your opinions, but I see it as nothing more than showing your power as a cl. |

That was the most ridiculously stupid and myopic thing I've ever heard Geoffry. Back to your hole please as you clearly have no idea whatsoever what you are talking about. |

| Prince if you would kindly listen haha you have no power over the requests, so why post on it? I mean seriously, you think someone will listen just because you are a cl? | |

| Goeffry, its all about the respect to the family your applying to. If they can show the respect to wait for an answer, why should the leader of the family they got into trust them? It shows they are impatient and willing to jump at the first chance they get. I would expect someone like that to find himself with a new pair of cement shoes. | |

I do beleive my point was standard procdeure not to long ago aswell, you want me to link into your topic? OKay. They will both fail? You want respect? You earn it, getting authed isn't earning respect in my opinion, the amount of shit auths we have had, in the past proves this point beyond belief. New gangsters can't be expected to know the ways straight away, lets be honest, did anyone read the bible when they first stepped foot in this land? I didn't. You learn by your mistakes, let them learn, tell them its seen as disrespectful and educate them, don't shoot them just because your ickle ego got abit bruised. Peace |

Jordan heard a response to PrinceofCheese's speech and turned around to look for the man, but he disappeared into retirement. That guy must've been high. Leaders should earn the respect of Gangsters? Give me a break. This is the mafia. Leaders are not politicians and they don't have to prove jack shit to Gangsters. Gangsters should be proving themselves worthy of being in a family, not shopping around wasting the time of one leader then joining another. Jordan walked away shaking her head. |

Principessa hears the discussion on the street and decides to add her two cents worth. While I agree with you, Mr. Cheese, that jumping from crew leader to crew leader requesting an invite can be seen as disrespectful, I think it may not be the young mafioso's fault. When I personally came to these shores, I was scared and confused, and one of the very first things I did was request a family. I was lucky enough to get an invite almost straight away, but I can understand a young mafioso's concern if he doesn't get an invite right away. Therefore, I don't feel you can, in good conscience, decide to attack these young mobsters. Until we can convince our young members that the streets are a relatively safe place to be when they first start out, we can not hold it against them if they are confused and scared just as I once was. I do not hold it against you as a crew leader to deny membership to a straight-off-the-ship civilian, for that is certainly your right. I do think, however, that we should be a little more lenient with the young ones until they have learned the proper respect. |

| i am going to tell you one thing Jordan, I am in my family, apparently my leader trusts and respects me just right, I respect who I must and I do not need to respect anyone else. So before you start shooting off your mouth about someone try using the thing called respect that you talk about. | |

Tollin stands amazed. "Did I hear you correctly? You do not think you need to respect other leaders and people of higher rank than you? Maybe you do not know, but you are representing your family every time you open your mouth in public. If you do not respect the people in power, you do not respect your own family." "I am suprised you still draw breath at this moment." |

| lol so you think just because there are some with more power than yourself you are suppose to respect them? hahahahahahaha don't make me laugh. If someone wishes for me to respect them they will earn it. And Jordan I misread your post, sorry for the aggressive post. anyways back to the subject at hand, The few I respect have earned it 5 times over and I will always respect them, want on that list? earn it. | |
