Sweet sleep ! Started by: The_JesTer on Dec 01, '10 11:49

I have got this Crazy suggestion, and it has been haunting me for some time now.

What I have observed in this little time of mine that I have been playing MR is that so many times when a city decides to go for war against x y z city. It preferably chooses time when most of the oppositions are a sleep. And not surprisingly in some minimum time they come out as winners, and most of the opposition are Killed in their sweet sleep.

What I suggest is to introduce an activity which I would name "SLEEP", where a player can go to sleep for say 6 hours in 24 hours. And in this period that mafiaso cannot be WACKED.

And on the other hand the player who has gone to sleep, cannot attempt any sort of crime, and can just read his messages for those 6 hours.

It should not be obligatory to go to sleep, but once you go to sleep then you would not be able to wake up until you finish those 6 hours ( like it is when you decide to go to a Shooting Range).

This will make Wars more exiting and fun and give a good chance to every one to display their skills which they acquire through out their character building ( I mean a good amount of time is spend in Character building), and most of the times it all goes through a drain and in vain when you are killed in your sleep.

So what every one else thinks ?

Report Post Tip

I don't know that it would make wars more exciting, but definitely longer and more drawn out.

I don't think that 'sleeping' should make you immune to being wacked. This may seem like a semantics change of your original idea, but something I'd rather see is a 'Hit the mattress' feature. With this feature, a CL could send up to 5 people in his family (other than himself) into safehouses for a period of up to 6 hours. During this time, provided that the 5 people sent to safety do not do anything to attack (wack, pickpocket, or train for that matter), they will not been seen in any city locals, regardless of the info skill of the people looking for them. To send someone into hiding, it would cost $750,000 per rank, and does not make them immune from wacking... only from being spotted. Obviously this wouldn't work for a CL's hitsquad, but perhaps the person holding the family funds, or other key people not essential to wartime functions.

Hitting the mattresses would be a feature available at any time, but really only profitable during times of war, and could be used every six hours, meaning the CL would have to keep up the safety maintenance of his (or her, sorry didn't mean to be sexist) family members in hiding.

Also, since the people in hiding can't be seen, neither should they be able to see who is in the city. If you're hiding out in someone's basement, you're not going to be peering out the window to see whose loafers go trotting by.

This keeps the CL still vulnerable to attacks, but does offer a bit of strategy as far as keeping certain family members safe.

They would have to inform the people they've sent to safety so they'd know not to attack, pp, train... etc. I like the interaction option better than an automated personal because there should be a heavy reliance on communication during a war... not a bunch of automated messages.

Should the CL die during while sending members out to safety, their safety would extend the entire 6 hours, and expire since the CL is no longer around to resubmit them for safety.

Why?

Sleep protecting you? That's just ludicrous. We may be men of honour, but you can sure as hell guarentee that if I have to shoot you, I'd rather do it when you are 'sleeping' than when you are up walking around. Going to bed should be no guarentee of safety.

As for safe houses... Why would a CL want to put members of their family during a time of war out of harms way? Every member should be shooting to kill, or shooting to pro. If a member that you are relying on to help win the war is off sick, on holiday, at work, well that's just tough shit. Kudos to the attackers for attacking when your best hitters are off line, that's just good planning. The only times I can see safe houses working are 1) You hate your CL and he's under attack during a war, in which case you go into hiding so that he dies and you don't or 2) A particular member of a crew is under attack by persons unknown, so until it is resolved your CL puts that person into hiding until its resolved.

However, I still don't feel that its a necessity for either of these to be impliamented.

This is only my humble opinion. i like jesters idea. Ive been playing this game for some time now. I know the politics of the game. there is one city and one city only that would ever outlast a night attack and thats NY. there the biggest city strength wise. I might be off on this one but alot of the other cities have men from ny placed in them to run families there. So theres plently of back up for them if ever needed. Basically no ones ever going to mess with them and would be very foolish to try to.

A sleep option would level the playing field slightly i feel if a family outside of ny ever decided to wage war on another family. if im going to be honest at this current juncture in the game theres no need for night attacks because of the balance of power.

SO i guess what im getting at, is if theres a sleep option it'll give other families a standing chance.

(no offense to NY you guys are a power house and run a tight ship.)

Report Post Tip

No, no, and no once again. This is undeeded on all levels. Its apart of the fabric of this game that you could die at any given point in time.

Report Post Tip

I agree with Ragnarok, the main point of the game is to be able to be killed at any give time. To have any feeling of "Safety" for 6 hours would be ridiculous.

Report Post Tip

Be un-whackable while sleeping? Pfft...That's the best time to shoot someone!

Report Post Tip

Is this how the real mafia worked?

Report Post Tip

I like Alex's suggestion. That is indeed how the Mafia worked when there were wars - the top structure would go into hiding so things would cool down. Only a very select few knew their location, and they were guarded tremendously because of the bunker-like qualities of their locations. That could add a pretty interesting dynamic to the game.

Report Post Tip

It could also make NY invincible well any powerhouse really? Ever heard of the tag team concept? What if TheDean decided to put half his hitters on sleep mode, then pro the rest, while they shoot the shit out of anyone against them, then they switch? Same system with the rest of the hitters and they kill off whoevers left? Wars would go twice as long, and this strategy wouldn't only work for New York (granted it work best for them because they are the largest) it would work for any thus creating a possibly (in theory) and endless war! Which im sure no one wants. If that makes sense?

Report Post Tip

Basically this idea would only make it so that during war the side that knows they will lose can just go into hidiing or go to sleep for 6 hours and then the war is over until they are out of sleep mode. The risk you take by going to sleep is a big one, that's why you see many of us on all day long, the real mafia didnt have this invincible protection while they slept so why should we. However, I do agre with Alex's idea. I think being able to send a few into hiding but not give them wack protection might be a good idea

No no no! You can't kill me, I'm sleeping!

Report Post Tip

Some form of this idea would be awesome to use...bring a little bit of strategy to the table....not just "wait till they all go to sleep". That's what everything has boiled down too...there's nothing realistic about that. Never bring up the real organized crime leaders when discussing this...because everything about the idea denies logic.

A whole criminal organization wiped out in their sleep? Never. There's nothing tactical about it. "Wait till they go to sleep then find what city they're in" that's freaking it. Truly being tactical is seeing 40 red names on the 60 second list in the middle of the day...knowing that they had a chance but couldn't stop it. Everyones scared to get hit...there's literally no bite back for going to "war" and that's....freaking unheard of.

Again some form of this idea would be awesome. There's no point in bringing up "real world" when discussing something that could only...ONLY happen in a game. So please stop.

(Hopefully repeating myself 40 times will end the whole "real mafia" and "tactical" comebacks. I'm using reality to counter the BS. What's the problem with having something unrealistic counter something unrealistic? Nothing.)

Report Post Tip

Instead of protection when sleeping, why not go on the offensive.

Admitedly theres WB already, but prehaps an NPC type of shooting back might work if somone fails a shot.

Report Post Tip

I think idea isnt best. This game is based on real life and in real life there is no such thing as go to sleep where nobody cant kill you

Report Post Tip

Alot of big Wacks were made while people were sleeping. This is honestly a horrible idea. Not being rude, but I think this is one of the worst Idea's I've ever seen on MR. I second Rag's on this.

Report Post Tip

You little boy, if you don't like it then don't post in it.

No one is dying got your comments !!

Destroying an entire criminal organization in their sleep has never happened and never will in real life. So?

Report Post Tip

hmm yeah, not a good idea, i like to take pictures of my victims while they sleep before i pull the trigger!
