Yeah this was a reall bummer, but fortunately the stone structure seems intact and since it was under renovation most of the artifacts were removed. |

| Sad to see this happen to any site of cultural significance. Regardless of different religious stances, hopefully the French can rally around this to rebuild an important symbol of their country. | |

Let me shine some light in the probability discussion that happened earlier on. Think in 23 different disasters, there is then a 50% that two of these happened at the same calendar day. It is just an application of the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birthday_problem As the number N (in our analysis disasters) grows the probability p of getting a pair approaches 1 pretty fast, so yes it is really "more than likely" for this to happen. |
