A Door Without a Building Started by: Hardgore_Alice on May 06, '19 01:27

Alice stumbles into the busy street, unfamiliar with all of this but with something important to show and say. She comes prepared with only a door and a step ladder on which to create a podium. Nerves wracking her every thought.

I need to get myself together, I have to show this to the world and if it lacks conviction how will I ever to be taken seriously.

She sets the door down so that its outside faces the crowd and its inside cannot be seen, and setup the step ladder beside it walking up to the top step and prepares herself to speak with power and conviction, to tell her tale and open the door to the future. She begins to speak.

To any who are interested I have a story to tell. A story about me and my very magical door here. This story starts with ......

She breaks ito a narration telling the story to all listening with hopes that they may both be entertained and informed.

Despite his harsh introduction through the day working side by side She found that Heston was a kind soul and this drove her to work hard for him during what should have been her last day as his temp. That is when he approached her at the end of the day and offered her a full time job, she accepted not knowing what she had just agreed too.

Over the next few days Heston showed her the ropes of the kitchen and some unusual additional jobs that did not make sense for a chef to be doing, but work was work, money was money she played along. This went on for weeks when finally it started to click just what She had stumbled into, beyond chef facade she was dealing with some sort of organised crime.

It is at this point that someone interrupt

"But what has this got to do with the door?"

Fine fine, Im just trying to put on a show here but I will give the shorter version, sheesh peoples these days. Continuing on..

Alice however was not deterred because of this line of work and even excelled at it allowing her to raise through the ranks. During this time she also made a great many friends inside the culinary school beyond Heston that guided her to both who she would become and imprint the everlasting code of family.

She worked closely with the family as others moved onto other ventures, found their death or retired moving up one position at a time until she served right under the now Godfather Heston as his Right Hand. Honoured by the opportunity she worked her hardest to do the best job possible. She also worked to become a paragon of magic, not the type of magic you might see on the silver screen but the type of magic that can bring a smile to any face, warm any heart and soothe any loss, a talent that is much needed in our line of work. She always assumed this would go on forever and she could always look after others, never worried that she would need to soothe herself. Heston was after all a good man, how could anyone take issue with him?

That's when the fateful day came, sitting in the kitchen doing the prep work for the lunch rush, Alice made note that Heston was late, he was never late for the lunch rush. It is at that moment that she hears an abundance of police just outside the guest entrance to the restaurant ready to bust through . Putting two and two together she knew she had to leave now, and that Heston was likely in trouble or worse dead. She ran out and it wasn't until she reached the employee entrance that she had left without a memory of what had just happened. She along with the recent additions to the culinary school that she had recruited worked quickly to detach the one thing that was still within reach. The door.

She later learned that Heston was shot by an FBN agent who had caught him trying to rob the credit market, Heston had been just a tad too slow and there was no escaping his fate. This brought her great sadness, a sadness she could not express as she knew the FBN would be watching the grave closely for any of Heston's known associates. She would always regret not visiting the grave of the man who did so many great things for her, taught her the ropes and set her down what was the correct path for her all while supporting her ow ambitions. But this was the life we chose, and he would not want this to be the end of the story.

Alice was quickly taken in by a familiar face, when she arrived at his door carrying nothing but the door that  was her only memory of those times. Tim greeted her with both sorrow and warmness that was fitting for the old friends who have worked in tandem on many an operations in New York. "I did not know where else to go so I came here". Tim just smiled the sad smile replying he wished it was under better circumstances.

We now break away from the story.

After long days of discussion me and Tim reached one question that needed to be answered. Would I move forward or would I be stuck in the past? That question haunted me, because every body in my bone wanted to mour the loss of everything I had known, but I knew that in order to honour my dead, and the dead of everyone else who has ever stepped into this life that the only way was forward, to press on and continue this little thing of ours. For to give up would be a dishonour to them, to Heston and to the person I wanted to be.  It was at this time I asked for my auth to continue the legacy. I took my door and Tims blessing and set off to make a crew in my name, with my rules and my code.

And that is how I got here before you today. It has only been a short time since the passing of Heston but in order to hoour his memory I must move forward, and continue to forge this path that he gracefully set me down. It is once I accepted that fact that I was able to see the magic of this door right here. While it may not belong to any building it has a certain magic about it, the magic to start a new adventure.

So I welcome any soul, willing to experience wonderland, to step through this door and let their adventure begin.

With that Alice cracks the door open a hair, and then walks into the alley behind it, ready for any to join her adventure though this little thing of ours.

When Alice had written her and told her that her sister had committed suicide and left a young child behind. Ambichous was floored not her sister, she never would have killed herself, let alone killed herself and left a child behind. There had to be more to  it she immediately flew to New York to take custody of her niece.

When she arrived in New York Hardcore Alice met her at the airport and took her to Manhattan.  Alice told her that her niece was with Books at the HQ of the New York Elite. After spending a few days with them and getting the custody of her niece squared away she was wondering how she would support a child and have the funds to investigate what really happened to the child's mother. Then her answer came, when Alice sent her a telegram asking her to come help her at the Magical School, she knew there was a new adventure waiting them and possibly a way to fund her search for her sister, Terra "BBYGRL" .

Ambichous stood there holding the hand of her niece, Terra. Listening to her knew boss who not only set her up in her own house, she even gave Terra a whole new wardrobe. Ambichous was nervous she had not  lived this way of life like her sister had and how she did it with a child she will never know, but she had faith in the path as she held  her nieces hand listening to the speech.

Once Alice disappeared through the door with no  building Ambichous and her niece followed.  Both the woman and the child had similar grins on their faces as they walked hand in hand down the alley behind Alice curious as to what their new adventure held for them.

Eli had been there when the police rolled up to the Culinary School and commenced the shakedown. He had been very confused when Alice had insisted that they bring the employee door to the school with them as they left, but it was not in his place to question the one who had been his sponsor at the time, especially not in the middle of a crisis. He might have run back in for one of Heston's favorite knives, or maybe another utensil, something a bit easier to hide and carry. But it seemed that maybe it was the closest thing they could think of, or as was apparent now, there was something significant about the door.

Eli wasn't usually one for speeches or stories, but being that this one was about his previous crew leader whom he had respected, from a sponsor turned crew leader that he trusted. He had listened to it attentively. He was a part of the UN now, but the Culinary School would never be forgotten in his mind. He honestly thought the part about the magic was sort of rediculous, that is, until Alice and another pair walked right through the door and somehow didn't come out the other side... It was like there was actually something beyond the door...

Eli had never put much stock in magic shows knowing that they were but tricks, sleight of hand, and illusions, but this didn't seem like it had been planned as some sort of trick. The speech beforehand combined with the fact that he had walked through that same door many times made him question what he had just seen, or thought he had seen. Perhaps he should follow? After all, what could be the harm in it? Wonderland, whatever that might be, didn't sound so bad.

He walked up to the door and went straight through, preparing himself for whatever might lie beyond.
