I don't think you know anything about the mafia if you think that. Yeah if you moved in and tried to take over the other families business then you would end up dead. But not for just starting up your own business. There are always competing families in a city when it comes to the mafia. How is anything in not believing you can't pull it off? Its because you aren't allowed to try it. They refuse to allow such things to happen with the fear that you'll become powerful or maybe you will be able to take them out and they will have to start over again. But why should they worry? Rewarded for that? They are basically given it. Yeah they rank up. But honestly some could just sit back and do whatever the hell they want while others work their ass of and they would still get the Auth just because they said please and remember how good of friends we are. I also work for Prem. I've been around and seen him get Authed countless times. And not anytime has he just been given every single little thing. He has earned it as a leader and proved that his bloodline can be a great leader. Did he once say that he singled out Prem? I'm pretty sure he said that their are leaders out there earned it. He never once tried to say that what prem did since getting off the boat isn't merit. You see that all of his argument was correct and that you're wrong so you try to turn his argument into a bad thing so that he will be punished. A very pathetic thing in my opinion.

As to your replies Mark. I do totally agree with you. People do sometimes earn their families the Bodyguards and money. Also definitely earnings do not earn trust. I think he probably was going for how that person has earned a lot of money through working so freakin hard for the family and doing everything they could to help and earn. That I think deserves some merit so that they are maybe given some chance. Maybe not an Auth immediately just on the basis of money but at least give them something for their hard work.

I understand sentiments on this issue from both perspectives.  He reaches for his pack of cigarettes in his pocket and lights up a smoke, taking a long drag he continues.

While the right of those in power to exercise their decisions should be respected at all times, I can see how the perspective of old-blood being rewarded before (seemingly) putting in effort can be disheartening to new arrivals to these shores.  More often than not, this is not the case, and those offered up immense protection and power within a family do in fact prove themselves to be very valuable and loyal members to their organization. Unfortunately, I'm willing to bet that incorrect assumptions do chase away some business from these shores. However, If that is all it takes to chase away these would be mobsters, did we ever really need them here with us to begin with?

Basically, the only way I can see to make this issue right from both sides of the argument is to renegotiate protection rates with the bodyguard union so that buying protection is the same price across all ranks.  This way, leaders will be allowed to reward whomever they want whenever they want, and they won't be forced to give someone's son all the protection in the world right from the start of their career due to economical reasons. 

So, it sounds to me, that you're asking to let just about every single fucker with the cash to run around and buy HQ's as they please. Where would the order go? Downhill.

If you can purchase an HQ as you please, not only will it cause Havoc and a mass amount of HQ's, but it will take the accomplishments away. Making CL is a very fine accomplishment, but if you do it at your own will, it means shit.

It comes down to one thing. Those in power now won't change the way they operate becaause they see a system tat works and meets their needs. If you want to change the system you need to force that change. The only way to do that is to set yourself up in an empty city. Then when you are declared rogue, outlive the hitmen. Sorry for the disruption to everybody's day. In the past we've seen little underground groups spring up to try to create cracks in the foundation that we've all built together. Today was no different, and while these groups will try, we won't let them succeed. Thank you for your time and patience.

My point was that a civillian hasnt proven themselves. I think if i were in that postion of power i would know the people in my crew especially anyone above capo. So that if a death had occured id be able to quickly institute a new hand. Isnt that the point of promoting people within your crew? so that you groom them hopefully to one day one a crew of their own? And in that grooming process, while they progress through rank, should you atleast get to know the person your promoting? You are after all putting them in a postion of power and they do rep your family moreso than the lower ranks. so wouldnt it make sense to have compitent and trust worthy individuals in your higherstructure, not just people who earn you X amount of money a day? Everything you said can be easily solved by taking a little interest and thought in your family, instead of just being lazy and collecting money and making sure no one shoots themselves in the foot

The people I put in place had the qualities I looked for in future leaders. Not everyone possesses those qualities. No matter how hard some people try, they'll just never be cut out to lead.

thats why you have to actually take the time to get to know your family. talk to them on a daily basis. (occ: this is a fairly simple game. After acouple of months its easy for anyone to be decent at it. the thing that keeps 90% of the people of ever reaching consig is their mouths.)

Your statement implies leaders are not getting to know their crew. Based upon my experiences since I came to these shores, all my leaders have taken time to get to know me and to find out what I am all about. Its one of the reasons why I was authed multiple times. I, during my time in bold suits took the time to get to know almost everyone who worked for me. Thats how I authed four new crewleaders.
