Margie had been looking for Lee since she last saw him that night in the bar. He went home with that other woman. She had done her best to look pretty again that night, but since going off to college her skills had waned a bit. She could still primp and preen with the best of the girls down by the dockside, but this redhead he ran into? She shook her head. He must have had a thing for redheads with bit pouty lips. Margie was brunette, and she was Lee's height, which was to say about five and a half feet tall. Average for a woman, short for a man. She did have the body of a dancer though, or a runner, which certainly helped to attract men to her when she needed money. She hadn't though since she met Lee. He spent one night with her, and decided that she was worth spending money on, so they made a deal. "You go off to college and I'll pay for everything." That was the deal, plain and simple. But Margie was no beggar. She had to repay him somehow, and she had just the plan. Problem was, she couldn't find him anywhere! That's when she stumbled into the coffee shop and saw the redhead. She approached cautiously, not entirely sure how to take this, but certain that this woman had seen Lee last. She couldn't remember her name, but she knew it was an odd one. Not Tara, or something like that. OH! Tamsyn "Excuse me, Tamsyn? Aren't you friends with Lee? You know, nice guy, heavy cowboy accent?" She did not wait for a reply before sitting down across from the woman and putting her books down on the table. Pulling her long brown hair into a ponytail so it wasn't in her face, or covering her bright amber eyes she continued. "I saw you with him the other night at a bar, maybe two weeks ago. I've been looking for him, he's been doing me a favor and I want to repay him." She folded her hands on the table in front of her then and sat up straight as a force of habit. This damned school was forcing her into a finishing program while she was there. It was having an effect, besides, bruises on your backside really sucked. |

Tamsyn didn't recognize the young woman who settled into the seat across from her, but found herself curious when she mentioned her previous mark, Lee. She smiled at the memory of her night with the cowboy and with the memories of spending his cash. She chuckled, "I'm afraid I haven't seen him and wouldn't begin to know where to look for him. We, um, just met that night and he hasn't been in touch since." Not that I want him to be if he ever finds me he may wring my neck! "What did you say your name was?" |

Margie frowned at the response, but shook the other woman's hand nonetheless. "I'm Margie. He send you off to college too then?" She snorted and relaxed, leaning back in the chair and shaking her head. "I wonder how many girls he's pulled this crap with now." She opened her purse then and reached inside pulling out a pack of cigarettes, offering one to Tamsyn. "You smoke?" |

Tamsyn took a cigarette and arched an eyebrow. College? He sent a girl to get a higher education... holy shit. A man kills another man in cold blood for a pocket full of cash but who also helps girls get a better life? WHO THE FUCK IS THIS GUY!?! "Nah, he didn't send me to college or something as fancy as all that... maybe he thought I was worth a little less, eh?" She snorted annoyed now that she was worried he was going to miss the cash. After all, if he was sending girls he barely knew off to college he was clearly well off. "Just as well though, I wasn't looking for Mr. Right... more like Mr. Right Now." She giggled and lit the cigarette taking a long drag. "How is a fella ends up paying for you to go to college but you don't know where to find him or nothing about him? I don't mean to pry but it's gotta be one hell of a story... the sort of thing you see at the picture shows." |

Margie shook her head as she took a drag and spoke through the smoke. "Nothing so glamorous as all that. I'm no Hazel Harcourt. I spent a lot of time on my back for the past couple years, and well, maybe I just met a nice Jew." She shrugged and ashed her cigarette. "I'm surprised though that he didn't offer to give you the Nile. I got college out of him, you probably could have gotten a whole lot more. You've got a pretty face you know. Some of the girls I worked with would kill to have a face like yours." She paused and leaned in then. "Say, you wouldn't want to work a makeup counter would you? I've got a part time job at Macy's & Company. You could make yourself some extra money, maybe find a good man?" She looked over to the counter of the shop then and added... "Coffee any good here?" |

Jewish. Well, that explains that. "Coffee isn't that bad. I've had a lot better, though it's been a while." She sighed. "Back home. The Old Country. They knew how to make a good cup. I tried to tell the lady what I needed but she thought I was being a diva." She chuckled. "Say you like Hazel Harcourt films too? Did you see that recent one she was in with the Amazons? Oh, I loved it! Action, romance, and all the beautiful women dancing around... it was magically. Mark my words she's gonna be a massive star in Hollywood. Bet she does a film with Errol Flynn. Oh! He's a dream. You know for him, I might actually settle down." She smirked. "You work a make-up counter? Yeesh, that must mean you get all the best products." She sighed. "One day I'm going to have so much dough that I'll own three department stores worth of make-up... you just wait and see. Say... whatcha going to college for anyway?" |

Margie smiled and nodded, pulling out a new rouge from her bag. "Yeah, I go home with things all the time, they let the girls take samples home to try them out before they put them on sale. This isn't my color, but it might suit you pretty nicely." She slid the compact case over to the girl across from her and then got up. "I'm not looking for bad coffee, I know a place near the college that does a good cup, if you want maybe we can grab lunch? I'll tell you all about the typists program I'm doing if you want." She gathered her books and slung her purse over her shoulder, still unzipped, and then waited to see if the other woman was up for following. Margie could use more friends, and any girl who knew her way around a makeup brush was at least worth talking to. |

"Don't mean to sound like your mom, but you should zip your purse." She said to her friend quietly. "Always. It won't stop people from stealing from you but it might be a less tempting target if they have to work to get to your cash." She stood up. "I was robbed my first day after getting off the boat in New York. Ever since then I don't even carry my cash in my purse anymore. Too risky. Honestly I only ever keep make-up in mine nowadays." She glanced at the rouge. "This is a nice shade. Thanks, Margie... I promise to return the solid one day." She put it into her purse and made her way to the door with her new friend. "You know, if you really want to find Lee, I bet it wouldn't be so hard. A guy like that... Jewish cowboy with cash to burn, he's gotta stand out. Well, and, you know what... he might have mentioned something about where he works. Question is, do you want to find him?" |

Margie turned as they were walking out so that her purse was facing Tamsyn. "Do you mind? My hands are sort of full right now." Once her purse was zipped and the two had made their way outside she nodded. "I do want to find him, if even just to thank him again. I mean, tuition isn't cheap you know, and he even gives me money for books. I don't know where he gets it all, but cowboys much be rich." The pair made their way toward the lakeside and Margie nodded toward a building with a sign out front calling the place 'Carpe Donut'. It was clearly meant to cater to the college crowd and thought the name was funnier than it was. "Name's real weird, but the coffee is good, and so are their pastries." She smiled and then turned to Tamsyn, stopping dead in her tracks. "Wait a minute. Did you say you know where he works?! Why haven't you found him yet? Didn't really hit it off that night? I can tell you, he's very attentive, he might be worth giving a second shot." She smirked and continued down the road toward the coffee shop. "So, what's the plan? How do we find our rich cowboy?" She asked as they stood in line. |

"Well, he might not be happy to see me. You see, I left without much of a goodbye." she shrugged. "But... I do owe you for the rouge so... he told me works here in the city in a textile factory. Seems to me that if we want to find him all we need to do is track down the right place and ask around. Someone is bound to know him better than we do, right? Assuming, of course, he didn't lie to me about where he worked. Which, all things considered, he might have done." She stopped at the counter, "Two coffees and I'll have one of those cannoli looking things." She looked to her friend, "What sweet do you want? My treat." Well, Lee's really but... hey, who's counting? |

Margie looked over the counter and nodded at a glazed doughnut. "Just one glazed doughnut please then. Thank you so much!" She turned back to her new friend. "And thank you too. So, what do you want to know about the typists program? If you're looking to sign up I can get you the name of the recruiter." She smiled as she took her coffee and then grabbed them a small table near the window. "If you're just looking to make conversation though, I have to tell you, it's a bit boring. Nice that I don't have to deal with men a while lot though." |

“To be honest, I was just making conversation. I can’t imagine a life sitting behind a desk typing. But if it makes you happy I guess that’s a good thing. So you did say it wasn’t very exciting which makes me wonder if it really does make you happy? I can’t help but notice you also said you don’t have to be around men often? Has someone done wrong by you? I don’t mean to pry but you wouldn’t be the first woman with such a story that I’ve met.” It was definitely true. Plenty of the girls who lived at the apartment in New York had stories of men who had taken things too far and crossed lines they should not have crossed ... even with girls they were paying for the time of. “If there’s some jerk out there I need to know about I’d sure appreciate a heads up. I’ve got enough problems in my life without crossing paths with someone who has a mind to do something bad to me.” |

Margie shook her head. "Nobody in Chicago that's for sure. I've had run-ins with bad folks in the past, but not recently. Men are just, well sort of pigs. Maybe it was just what I was doing for work at the time but every guy just wanted one thing, even when I wasn't on the job. Lee might be one of the few good ones." She sipped at her coffee then. "I really mean it. He's paying for college for me after all. You're right about that though. College I mean. It's boring as hell, but it's better than lying on my back and trying not to get pregnant." She shrugged and continued sipping at her coffee while pulling off pieces of doughnut to pop in her mouth. "What about you? Your life must be more exciting than mine? Anything is more exciting than mine." She smiled again, waiting to have the opportunity to live vicariously through the lens of another person, even just for a short time. |

“Exciting? I guess it’s OK. It’s nowhere near what it’s going to be one day. I came to America to make a name for myself. Like all the women in the pictures. I don’t know that I want to be an actress, but I wouldn’t mind being loved and respected the way they are.” The truth was that she didn’t know how she was going to do it yet. In some ways the American mafia seemed the way to go. She had seen how much power her friend Victor wielded, and how much respect Dean Winchester commanded. And a part of her wanted a piece of that pie. The money, the cars, the clothes why couldn’t it be hers? Why shouldn’t it be hers? But that was the thing, they were men with vision, and right now she was the girl with a dream. These were vastly different things. The reality was if she didn’t figure out a way to make her dream and achievable goal, she was dead in the water and would likely to spend her entire life on her back trying not to get pregnant. “I’m an entrepreneur. And I work with a very brilliant businessman, named DeanWinchester- . He’s handsome and successful, and completely unattainable. The sort a girl that women dream about but never end up in the lives of.” She smiled. “Come to think of it I’ve known if you guys like that. And I’m trying to learn something from them about how to start a business and run it proper.” She laughed. “When I say it like that it doesn’t sound very exciting doesn’t it?” |

Margie nodded. "Oh yes it does. It sounds to me like you've got a crush." She giggled and drank the last bit of her coffee. "I have to get to a class soon. But here..." She wrote a phone number down on a piece of paper. "Call me later, or tomorrow. I have the whole day off. We can get together and talk more about prince charming and figure out a way to get him to notice you." She smiled and gathered up her books. "Oh, and thank you again for the doughnut and the coffee." With that she waved, and was a whirlwind of movement going out the door. "Well, at least Margie's doing well. Mind if I join you darlin'?" Came an eerily familiar voice from a few tables behind Tamsyn. Levey stood from his table and wandered his way over to Tamsyn's, waiting for an answer on whether or not she would let him sit with her. "Seems like you two were hittin' it off. I didn't want to interrupt. Though, I'm curious as to whether she should have been thanking you, or me for the coffee." He winked and lifted his own glass to his lips then. |

“Well shit. If it isn’t the cowboy. Your girlfriend was just looking for you. Pretty, if you’re into that mousy secretary type. And she’s the sweet sort of gal a Roughrider keeps on the side for when he comes into town after a long cattle drive.” She smirked. “Of course some cowboys like their women a bit more on the wild side. Less Dale Evans and more ....” she hesitated, “Well, someone else. Maybe joan crawford. And so far as I’m concerned the money is mine. I did earn it fair and square. Don’t tell me you wouldn’t of taken me for every dime you could’ve if you had thought of it first. She might be buying that nice Jewish boy act, but I’ve seen behind the mask, Cowboy.” |

Levey nodded. "So you have lil' miss, so you have. Speaking of which, you know you're a hard one to find? Had my fair share of trouble doin' just that." He sat then, even though she hadn't explicitly told him he could, she was being friendly. "As far as the kind of gal this cowboy likes to keep on the side, it's not that type. She's a nice girl and all, but she's not quite my type. I enjoy a girl who's a bit rougher round the edges." He winked at Tamsyn then and gestured to his cup of coffee. "You fittin for another one darlin'? Or would you like to get out of here? Maybe go somewhere else and help me out with another uh, cattle drive we'll call it." |

“Just to be clear... Which part of our evening was the cattle drive? Was it the part where we went for that walk in the park? Or was it the part where I went up to your place for a nightcap?” She laughed into her mug as she finished her coffee. “If the latter I can quote you a price upfront this time so I don’t have to leave so quick in the morning. If the prior then I would ask for some details about what kind of job you have in mind. But either way,I got to say Cowboy, I’m always on the lookout for more ways to earn a buck.” |

Levey nodded. He realized he wasn't very clear, then again he was taken slightly aback by the proposition. he thought more highly of the woman across from him. Then again, she was better than he'd ever had, so that might have very well been why. If he could focus on something other than her round face and bright lips for more than thirty seconds at a time that night he might have thought twice. "The walk in the park is what I meant. I want to be very clear, that man deserved it, he was selling to kids. That's not alright in my book, and I don't think my boss would have been very happy if he found out. He will find out of course, but only now that the guy is gone. Problem already taken care of see?" He finished his coffee then and looked out the window. "If you're up for a ride though, we can go for another run of it. I've got a line on a man down by the docks who moved up from Detroit, apparently he sold a bad batch to some important so-and-so and she almost died from it. Guy contacted me, and I'm willing to split the payment with you fifty fifty if you're willing to help me out." He looked back to the sultry woman in front of him and stared just a little too long. Should have kept his gaze out the window. It was going to be impossible to get any real work done around this woman. |

“Selling a bad batch to a dame... Well we can’t have that now can’t be Marshall? That’s cowboy up, I’m always ready to ride with you.” She stood up and grabbed her purse. “But I feel I should let you know I’m not as good as six shooter as you. It’s the reason I stole your gun. Figured if I was gonna be living this sort of life I needed some kind of protection. Gotta tell ya I’ve been made a victim a few times since arriving here in this country and I mean to make certain that it doesn’t happen again.” She put down a tip on the table and winked at her companion. ”So do you have a car, or maybe a horse outside we can take, or are we walking?” |
