Duolingo is a great app. It helped me get started in different languages such as German and French. I know some words and structures because of it. Unfortunately for me, I have never been able to keep "playing" for more that one month, I think. But I do recommend for people who want to get in contact with a language. 

Of course, we need to acknowledge that those learning english might be better of than those learning... let's say Korean or Greek.

I do not DuoLingo, but it gives me a great idea. I think I will invent an app that teaches the fine art of Shit Talking. It's a talent that I feel is eroding and has been for a couple decades now. Don't anybody go steal my idea and make a million dollars, now.

I used to speak French. I live in an English speaking area and don’t travel a whole lot. Rather than go and learn another language I do much more productive things with my time like play MR. 

I've tried DuoLingo once to learn Gaelic but it didn't last too long. I would be interested if they taught ASL. 

I used to use it on a more regular basis. Trying to learn italian but I am having trouble staying consistant. Pretty sure its my attention span.  I am addicted to scrolling and it stops me from completing tasks.

i was using Duolingo as part of my attempt to learn French - i had a good run, but wasn't paying for it and got to a point where it wouldn't recognise the correct answer to a number of questions and i got stuck in a doom loop, so i gave up. Maybe if i pay? ..... 

Yes, I used to until i got to trying to answer a question - which i was getting right - but which wasn't being recognised as correct. With the free account that is penalised, so i stopped. Having seen this series of chats, I am inspired to try again. 

No I never used it before but I have been wondering if I should take up another language due to the people I work with.

I tried Duolingo a while back and got frustrated that it wouldn't register correctly an answer, so i got stuck and gave up. I was on the free version, so when you make errors you lose your progress. I am thinking of restarting and wondering whether to stump up the cash and pay for it. 

I was using it for a while and nothing against it, but I heard that Babel was much better for actual learning but I never tried it myself. DuoLingo is OK, but as I understood it, it sometimes gives very weird examples that are almost never used even by the natives or any kind of speakers of that language. But it is decent.
