Best mafia film? | Started by: Anton on Jul 18, '20 18:05 |
I'm gonna go with Goodfellas The Departed Casino The Godfather
Others perhaps not as well know, State of Grace, Things To Do in Denver When You're dead, Road to Perdition. |

Same 4 in my list in a slightly different order. The Godfather Casino Goodfellas The Departed. Also have a soft spot for Donnie Brasco. Most disappointing was The Irishman. I had been waiting for this film for years after reading I Hear You Paint Houses back in 2005. Film was confirmed in 2016. Took 3 years to make & put together & was in my opinion fucking horrible. Never watched a Scorsese film I didn't like up until this one. |

I watched The Irishman at the cinema, LogenNineFingers - some of the camera stuff was challenging, but I thought it was an immersive experience, and a fascinating story. It was a good film, with some flaws, IMO. |

I’m gonna say the Sopranos. Not a movie - but the show was amazing - and hit a lot of things about mafia and mafia life in its run. | |

The Godfather trilogy is obvious, so I'll pick one that isn't so obvious and quite underrated. I loved A Bronx Tale. Anything with DeNiro is aces, and A Bronx Tale breaks from the norm by telling the story from the viewpoint of someone peripherally related to a crime family. I can't think of another mob movie that does that. |

I genuinely don't think the Godfather has been bettered but there's some stunning Italian modern mafia films out at the moment that need to be watched. |

Scarface and Goodfellas are probably my 2 top favorites. For what it's worth, American Gangster was damn good too. |
