Still though. Theres no proof that he is dead. I'm not saying that he is or isnt but there is no proof of either or.

Bin Laden has been dead for some time now,whoever was killed on that day i really dont believe it was him.

It makes no sense why no pictures were released, as TCL said Saddams execution was everywhere and i know people say "Who wants to see pictures in the paper" or "He's a leader so they wouldnt want to provoke reactions" but lets face it, it would be seen. Whether via newspapers or online websites, we would have seen a picture. I cant believe that it has taken our well trained, well equiped troops this long to find such an influential man over in Afghan. I believe that he was found a long time ago and with-holding this information gives a solid reason for the presence of our armies. I still believe its all about what can be gained from Afghanistan, alot of oil over there, alot of money, not mentioning the fact that Afghanistan is probably the biggest producer of heroin and marijuana in the world and by taking control of such a place could be very benificial. This is all just my own opinion and i am a theorist, i mean no offense to anyone THIS IS MY OWN OPINION.

Here's a thought, I know it's hard for those who choose to go with the oooo spooky conspiracy theories.. New people running the country making different decisions? I know. Amazing. Shocking. Scary.

It's not new people running the country at all. It's always been about Democrats vs Republicans. One man being different isn't going to change how the whole system works. I happen to feel it's all bullshit as well. (No offense to those that feel pride and whatnot) My personal opinion is that Osama died years ago. If he hadn't, would he not have planned another attack?

This is America. For Americans! That will be a new motto in the future I can feel it. regardless of the time of his death, he had friends that are powerful. Why are some of you stuck on theories that have been buzzing through the internet? Conspiracy theories are just that, theories. I don't see any facts of the goverment lieing to us. You must think their in a state of frenzy ready for an attack by some lunatic occult leader who condones what Bin Laden did not just to America but to his own people because he was power hungry. Get off the bandwargon and live your life. I feel its better to naiive then to believe in theories.

People definitely need to stop reading too much into this.  Let it go.  It's okay. 

But just so we're clear about the differences - i.e. why pictures were released of one and not the other.  Think about these issues - Saddam wasn't shot by AMERICAN specdial forces.  He was tried by an international court (very clearly not american court), found guilty, and executed.  WE didn't kill him in a fire fight in the dead of night with two bullets to the head.  

Personally, I think posting pictures of this guy - just makes him a martyr to his followers.  Very bad.

Now - if you've read Sarah Palin's reasons why she thinks we should release the picture...wow.  She's really that stupid?  Talk about potential backlash.

Releasing the picture would make Bin Laden even more of an Islamic icon... As Andrew stated, Osama Bin Laden was basically a god to his people, keeping him alive and even taking measures to take him to trial would be the worst decision to make. AQ would retaliate without a doubt, in my opinion the hasty burial was an excellent idea.

I honestly couldn't be more pleased with how this ended (other than the amount of time it took to catch him, of course). I hardly agree with the President on everything, but it took guts to make the decision to send in a strike team as opposed to dropping a bomb from 5 miles up.

For the conspiracy theorists, you're nuts. I guess some people have to make up crazy shit to create themselves a narrative in which they have an important function and an inflated sense of self-worth. And hey, probably 1% of conspiracy theories are correct. Never say never. But I don't think they apply in this case. If Bin Laden was dead years ago and the US Government knew he was dead, they wouldn't be flying an unauthorized military attack over nuclear-armed Pakistan at 1 AM and getting into firefights. If he was alive, the government sure as shit wouldn't be saying they killed him, since it would only take one video from Bin Laden to completely blow the situation up in their faces.

For the "it doesn't matter, someone will just take his place and do more bad stuff" people, congratulations. You just solved our national debt. We'll just get rid of all our police and armed forces. Because if someone does bad stuff, it doesn't even matter if we respond, because more people will just do bad stuff. In all seriousness, I haven't heard anyone who claimed that this completely destroyed terrorism in the Middle East. But killing the face of that terrorism is not meaningless. Justice is always worthwhile. In this case, justice happened to be dispensed by two in the head.

He's dead, people. And it's a good thing.

Face it...no conspiracy theory is correct. Never has been. People who buy into conspiracies are just people who want to believe they're somehow more enlightened and they're deep thinkers that can see through the smoke screen to the real truth. Here's the real truth. Bin Laden is dead. He was killed by a member of the Navy Seals Team Six during a raid on his compound in Abbattabad. There were pictures and videos taken. The body was offered to the Saudis who declined and they dumped his body in the ocean. The videos of the raid will not be released because it shows operational information that people can use against out special forces troops. It was decided by the White House not to release the pictures of the body citing precedent and the fear of it creating a negative impact on the image of the US as well as possibly provoke attacks on US interests abroad. End of story.

Some people need to realize that conspiracy theories are always based on misinformation. For example, the US never released pictures or videos of the Hussein execution. Those came from Iraqi sources. For the people who think it's not real because they don't believe it would take that long to find him...it didn't take that long to find him. They knew years ago where he was with 25% certainty. But you don't take unauthorized military missions into countries that claim to be an ally based off of 25% certainty. Over time they became more and more certain until they finally got confirmation. I give Obama credit for giving the go ahead with the operation but I don't know how much guts it takes to ok a mission to kill Bin Laden but make no mistake the hard work was laid out during Bush's administration. Obama just took credit for it during his speech.

Dead For Years.

And what benefit would it be to hide his death for years and announce it now? If it were to keep our troops in Afghanistan they surely wouldn't be announcing it now. If it were for political reasons they would have waited until election year to bring this out. You're welcome to your opinion just know that it has no basis in reality.

Bush had a chance to have Bin Laden handed to him a long time ago, but he rejected it. Obviously now we know it was because he would no longer have grounds for waging his personal war. That is the true conspiracy. He didn't want to find him.

Thank you, TCL. Thank you for once again proving the point I made about how people twist facts to fit their agenda. Where in your exhibit A does it say that Bush rejected an offer to have Bin Laden handed to him? It clearly says that there was no offer to turn him over. What it says is the Taliban where willing to discuss handing over Bin Laden to a 3rd party country if the bombing of Afghanistan was ceased and the US could prove that Bin Laden was guilty of the 9/11 attack. Reading is fundamental.

As for StillSomking, I reread your horrifically incorrect previous post and I still pose the question why say he's dead now if he was killed years ago? If they were using Bin Laden to control valuable land in Afghanistan (which is an immense stretch in itself) then wouldn't they now have to pull the troops out of Afghanistan and give up all that super valuable land that is, for the most part, absent of oil now that he's dead?

The saddest part of all this is if you just stepped back and looked supposed goals and the supposed means of these theories they clearly make no sense. Yet the infowars sheep just fall in line believe anything conspiracy theorists throw at them as gospel even when pure fact is laid out before them.
