If the public were informed of his death a long time ago, what reasons would we have to stay in Afghan? We were in afghanistan to supposedly catch Bin Laden, right? Well if he was caught and killed a long time ago and it was made public, we would have people saying "Why are our troops still there?" this would cause the Bush admin alot of explaining to do, rather than just saying "We haven't caught him yet, were not pulling out" thus giving the Bush admin reason to have such a huge number of our soldiers scouting Afghan.

What? And how exactly has the death of Bin Laden cause an absence of oil? The oil fields of Afghan are still ripe with oil, billions of dollars worth of oil. Hense the whole reason of keeping our troops over there, securing as many strongholds as possible and eventualy somehow exporting all of the oil we can. You cant let a country that cant even sort out its our security problems to hold such great amount of commodities, oil will be the most valuable of all and the yanks know that.

It's a hefty read, so I'll skip to the important part. But you have the entire transcript at your disposal, so I'm not sure how I will be implementing any 'twisting' in this case.

A quote directly from the interview:

"Well, as I say, we haven't heard much from him [Osama]. And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don't know where he is. I -- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him."

So yes, while Bush did start this snafu of a war in the middle east, he himself admits - rather controversially - that finding Osama was not his top priority.

How can you then claim that the Bush administration did all the hard work in finding Bin Laden?

So there goes that reason to want to keep the troops in Afghanistan. And if we needed Bin Laden as an excuse to stay in Afghanistan then why are there no plans to bring the troops back now that he's dead? Your logic is illogical in the face of the facts. Bin Laden was the head of an organization that was part of the problem and part of the reason why we went into Afghanistan. The Taliban was another part of the problem. We weren't and aren't going to leave until there is some kind of confidence (granted it won't be alot of confidence) that the government in place won't just immediately fall and the Taliban will come back in power.

Which transitions nicely into TCL's partisan, taken out of context tidbits. If you put Bush's comments into context he was talking about how the search for Bin Laden had forced him so far underground that he could not participate in planning Al Qaeda attacks anymore. The primary focus was shifted to those high ranking Al Qaeda members who were actively planning attacks. It didn't mean they weren't still looking for him. It didn't mean that Bush still wouldn't have REALLY loved to have found him. It means that when you're fighting a war the primary focus has to be on the brains of the enemy rather than someone who is, at that point, just a figure head.

Now I'm not going to bother finding links to everything because I know how you conspiracy nuts are. You'll just ignore it and all real logic and find anything you can twist to fit your story. The bottom line is when Bush came into office he was handed a decimated intelligence community. Everyone loved it when Clinton created a budget surplus but one of the ways he did it was by gutting our intelligence operations. Bush rebuilt the intelligence community that eventually found Bin Laden. The JSOC (Joint Special Operations Command) released an operational timeline that showed this operation beginning 4 years ago and several high ranking intelligence officers openly admitted that it was information obtained from water boarded detainees at Guantanamo Bay that led to that break 4 years ago and eventually to finding Bin Laden. None of that was done under the President who campaigned on the promise of ending water boarding and promised to close Guantanamo Bay. All that President did was keep his nose out of what the Bush administration had started and it payed off.

Instresting, not 2 excited.. possible true but theres always something behind this type of shit. While the people celebrate, there might be a war at hand... Just my opinion.
