Been awhile since I've done any serious workout. Just try to watch my calorie intake and stay away from sugary foods. However, jogging and drinking plenty of water has done me well.

I invested in a balance board that's been working out super well for casual core exercises in addition to improving balance in general.  A few planks on it along with a few squats and you're basically done for the day.

I have been told the simple press up has loads of benefits.

Burns energy works a number of different muscle groups!

This should be included in peoples work out routines.

Maybe we can goose this thread again by talking about supplements?

I do a multivitamin daily, an elderberry/zinc/vitamin C immunity blend, and a red yeast rice/coQ10/niacin blend for cardio health. I don't use fish oil because of the odor, so I get omega 3 fatty acids from various nut and seed combos (walnuts, etc.).

Maybe come up with a list of goals you would like to achieve and by when you want to achieve them and go from there. Make sure they are realistic though. Mine usually aren't very realistic so I end up getting mad and pushing harder and hurting lol Don't do that. Listen to your body and have a plan. Tweak the plan as you go.

There is an app called "Fitbod" that asks you what equipment you have (or don't have) and builds you workouts to suit the muscle groups you want to improve (strength, bulk, tone, fat loss, etc.) with videos and explanations. I took 12 months of gym memberships and bought my own home gym, and now I use the app to track it all. It's great.

It is a paid service (for regular access to everything), but you can use it for free without all the workout videos and explanations if you know what you want to do and when.

I remember when I bought a gym membership long time ago, first time ever on the gym when I got home I couldnt move my fucking arms, it was really something. I was really skinny back then and out of shape lol

Thanks to another lockdown I train a bit at home. I run, stretch, jump, such things. I'm not really lifting weights but I could do something with water bottles packs.

One don't worry what every one else is doing and how much they are lifting.  i tend like to work chest and back two days sat and wednesday and legs and abs with cardio two days sundays and thursday recover is just as important as the workout.

set goals like 8-10% increase in the weights every two weeks.   do not stay in the gym more then 1 hour this means a fasters pace workout but i've notice that people who follow this madness tend to continue going to the gym to workout.   start with 3 sets of ten reps on machines you like or free weights but do them correctly.  increase to 4 sets of 10's or 3 sets of 12reps you choose the challegne the bigger the better results however know that the heavier the weights use low reps which are just as effective as lighter weights high reps.  but not so light you dont feel the first 10 reps and not so heavy you cant do 6 reps.  If your goal is for weight loss then start with a real meal plan not those diet fads.  what you eat and how much you eat is just as important as your workout.  eat right and lift correctly for the best results.   this is a long process not a month or two or six month plan this is a change of life style.  five to six years down the road.

I'm a firm believer in not underestimating the benefits of stretching.  I usually do 20 minutes of stretching followed by resistance training. Not much else is needed.

I work out with a personal trainer three times a week. He is amazing. He whips my ass into shape, but he’s so motivational and I think that really helps me to achieve my goals.
Report Post Tip

I really like push ups

The challenge with a workout regimen is that nearly everyone has a different set of needs. If you want to lose weight, you'll need one set. Building muscle requires something else.

I know I tend to go about 2:1 cardio to weight work. So I'll spend 20-30 minutes on the bike or elliptical, then do a set of weight work(focusing on an area at a time. So core, arms, legs, back, what have you), then do another 15-20 minutes on the bike/elliptical to wrap things up, including a slower paced warm down.

With the pandemic occurring exercising and working out have become very important to me.   Luckily I live near a beautiful park that has a walking track I have begun to use almost daily.  I sat almost daily for I try to make taking that walk a part of my daily routine and so far I am staying at it.  We also have a beautiful beach and the pier I utilized.  So there is no excuse not to take advantage of it.

there are so many 'fad' workouts out there but I believe in the tried and trusted method which goes something like:-

pick beer up

lift to mouth

put beer down

repeat

I think it's timeless

A physical labor job keeps me out of the gym and I'm okay with that lol. But on a side note, swimming has done wonders for my body as I get older. I get to stay fitter and leaner with less of the physical toll on my body. So if I had to suggest something, swim. Swim A LOT.

I have a trainer whip my ass twice a week. She's pretty awesome and has been very nice to me over the past year and a half we've been working together, but I absolutely dread every single second of it. I'll be waiting for the day where I can join organized sports again.

Depends on what your goal is.

To me a workout based on compound movements is the one that makes more sense to me because it works all your body muscles as a whole. Or several groups of muscles at the same time.

Just type 5x5 workout or compound movements workout and you'll find plenty of information on it.

A good basic knowledge on nutrition will make all the different too, whichever is your goal. Nutritionally speaking, I am a fan of the ketogenic diet. Long story short, if forces your body to burn fat instead of carbs.

Report Post Tip

If you are of a bigger size and you want as less of loose skin as you can possibly get from reducing your body size, you are best doing a cardio work out with weights. Basically higher reps, lower weights. Of course cardio is important as well, but a good diet with the weights is imperative.
