MobGov – Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

Welcome everyone to one of the most eagerly anticipated events of recent history – a charming introduction to the current leaders; their hopes, their dreams, their plans and their thoughts.

“Who the fuck are you?”

A little introduction, I’m Artie_Bucco.  Current custodian of the highly successful/polarising/boring* MobGov information gathering exercise.  As part of the post-regime clear-out

*delete as appropriate

For those mobsters that only really look for kills and ignore the streets, this introduction is a little bit moot really but being an all-inclusive enterprise like MobGov we like to take care of the little people too.

As part of the first post-regime change MobGov Survey, we were asked who the leaders were…what their plans were and so we felt duty bound to provide you, our readers and respondents, with the things you wanted to know.  We approached all the cities with three simple questions:

  • What is your vision for your city/district?
  • What steps are you hoping to put in place to reach that vision?
  • Tell us two things you think are working well and one thing you would like to change.

Thank you to all those who took the time to respond.  Everyone was warned that failure to respond would result in MobGov being given artistic license to put words into their mouths.

If you want to look at a more serious, less tongue in cheek and frankly more proffesional effort , we suggest you interact with Giyu's opus.

MobGov Board of Director

Chicago

Leaders: @Ðawn_, EstherScarpati, Salvatore_DiLorenzo, Cinnamon, NathanExplosion

What is your vision for your city/district?

  • Coffee, sweets and a good time.
  • It takes a lot of work each day to look as fabulous as me, so I just want to be left alone to make sure I’m tip top.
  • The universe is going to punish those around me wherever I go so really, my plan is to avoid jinxing everything.  Fortunately, the folks who joined me don’t know about the jinx so if you could keep that part out of print, I’d really appreciate that.
  • Harmonic balance with my fellow city leaders, a new era of cooperation and progress across the nation.

What steps are you hoping to put in place to reach that vision?

  • Well, I came across this thing called a Faraday cage which I’m having Morry build me.  Saves me if lightening strikes.  I’ll be fine.
  • I have instructed Frank-Rosario to make sure my sweet shop is fully stocked.  The point of a right hand is to ensure all the unpopular tasks are carried out.  I keep telling him it’s a development opportunity.
  • I'm going to communicate often both in public and in private with my peers and try to foster honest, open relationships everywhere.

Tell us two things you think are working well and one thing you would like to change.

  • Oh, this is hard. I think we’ve all come together, and we communicate about all the important things like whose turn it is to provide the coffees at the city sit downs (the rota was my idea!).  And I bring the pastries and biscuits.  I don’t think we have vegans in the leadership group so that works out well.  One thing I’d change is I would love someone to open a World Buffet in my city.
  • I think it is too early for this question, at least as it pertains to the new group of leaders. However, in general - The streets are starting to perk back up, and so far, there seems to be open honest discussion on the state of the world. One thing I'd like to change is the way shot reports are handled.

Detroit

Leaders: TaylorBrown, TheMorrigan, RedXIII

What is your vision for your city/district?

  • More money.  What’s the pay like?
  • Well I’m a simple man, my focus is mainly on the city and making sure it’s upholding the standards that we leaders are trying to bring back. I’m aiming to have everyone engaged, interacting and having fun. If not what’s the point of breaking the law so much, right?

What steps are you hoping to put in place to reach that vision?

  • In order to make it happen we’ve been trying to keep a direct line to as many members as we can. So far to achieve this we also started with sub crews and comps. The idea of having the sub crews compete in the competition is something I hope to be a success in utilizing teamwork and helping everyone become familiar with one another and build bonds.
  • Well, I am looking to find ways to extort and steal money everywhere.  Except from Golem.  Everyone knows golems don’t have pockets.

Tell us two things you think are working well and one thing you would like to change.

  • Everything works well, I just need to get more sleep.
  • I want to find a way to monetise those popular businesses.  Particularly that Café Colombian and the fajita place.  I think I should be paid to have these people appearing in our Detroit businesses.

Las Vegas

Leaders - PoisonIvy, Smithy, King_Solomon, SumTingWong

What is your vision for your city/district?

  • To keep the sand off the streets and the punters in the casinos.  It was definitely more sand in the casinos and punters in the streets before we got here.
  • Cog in a wheel mang, cog in a wheel.  Wait?  No! Do wheels have cogs?  You know what I mean, a cog in something bigger that contains lots of cogs.  A machine…yes.  That’s what I meant.  A cog in a bigger machine.
  • Room for everyone.  We’ve recruited prolific people who love a good yarn.  We can have Vegas as some sort of tale-telling-richness-gathering black-hole type operation.  Whoever wants better pay would be better off being in Vegas rather than any other city.  If only people in other cities would just stop having great ideas and leave it to us.  Why do you think great stories come from people caste out into deserts?  We have the desert, and now we get the stories.

What steps are you hoping to put in place to reach that vision?

Tell us two things you think are working well and one thing you would like to change.

  • Co-operation works well.  The pastries and coffee rota works well.  I would change the pastries to pancakes personally but apart from that I’m just happy to be a part of the big change.

Los Angeles

Leaders: Oligarch, BlueOrchid, BennyTheJet

What is your vision for your city/district?

  • Primarily, to make sure everyone likes custard as much as me. As a secondary objective, I’d like to see LA become a bustling city full of life and vibrancy, where everyone gets along and all are welcome. As a community, I’d like us to play our part in upholding the new dawn we have here and keeping it the way we all want it to be.
  • I’m not telling you.  You still haven’t told me who the fuck you are.  Need to know basis, you need code word clearance for that info and your clearance level is dumbass.
  • Martial arts, baseball maybe some basketball.  I’m just your average sports loving guy.  LA is where you get the glamour and the sports and the glamour and the models.  The place to be if you want glamour, models and sports.

What steps are you hoping to put in place to reach that vision?

  • Well first, I had considered carefully dosing everyone with custard in small amounts until their bodies developed a craving for it. From there, I was going to place subliminal advertising around the city, reminding everyone how much they like custard and lastly, I was going to consult an old friend about what it takes to run a successful custard shop.
  • Unless you tell us who you are, we’ve already told you too much
  • My plans are at an early stage.  I wouldn’t like to share them.  These walls have ears and stuff, it’ll be big when it happens so keep your eyes peeled.  Do not hold me to this because being a CL is tough out here especially with all these Seattle businesses relocated…it’s a space/time continuum thing.  Too complex for most of your readers though.

Tell us two things you think are working well and one thing you would like to change.

  • The city leaders have all gotten together and formed thorough guidance on what to expect moving forward and it’s great to see many people returning to this life. It’s sad that not as many people like custard as they should, this needs to change.

New York

Leaders - Giyu, Lilith, Whirl

What is your vision for your city/district?

  • To perfect the art of cake eating without putting on any weight. So far it's highly unsuccessful.

What steps are you hoping to put in place to reach that vision?

  • Fat burners crushed into the cake - failing that, having the rule that we must run whilst eating cake. I have dabbled with the idea of using sweetener instead of sugar, but it's a poor imitation. Someone said it might be the butter in the coffee. I shot him immediately.

Tell us two things you think are working well and one thing you would like to change.

  • The triple chocolate fudge cake. The secret technique is to use.......two types of chocolate. I don't know why I call it a triple chocolate fudge cake.
  • The one thing that's not working well is the oats cake. Not enough sugar, too much oats. Apparently kicking it out the window doesn't help either. Who would have figured that, eh?

Philadelphia

Leaders - Asher, Kaya, Eazy

What is your vision for your city/district?

  • My main focus so far is rebuilding the city of Philadelphia. My goal is to make the city to feel as one. In recent times I have felt cities have been made up of mini groups or factions within a city or even a district.
  • I want to remove the us against them complex and try to unite everyone, so when the time comes that we are either attacked or someone needs help, they can easily turn to someone in their city for that assistance.

What steps are you hoping to put in place to reach that vision?

  • I have started a weekly news letter. This is to keep everyone abreast of important events, good work that people are doing and any other relevant information the people of Philadelphia will want to know.
  • I have encouraged everyone to give me feedback to ensure the success of this mail. I am also encouraging everyone to talk regularly amongst the city. Although I believe having a strong relationship in your crew is vital, I also believe having good communication amongst all residents in Philly will create a strong unity.

Tell us two things you think are working well and one thing you would like to change.

  • Relations with other Crew Leaders and City Heads seem to be progressing nicely, so hope they continue to grow in that fashion.
  • Philly's presence in the streets and business districts are growing, I feel this is something we can certainly improve on though but am happy with the growth so far.
  • Lastly, something I would like to improve on is my communication with all individual members of Philly. I have spoken to most, but still have some to get around to speaking with. So, I am hopeful, by the time you have published this article I will be in a better situation.

Again, thank you all for all your input, these articles and exposees do not write themselves.
