Are all rogues equal? Or could some be martyrs ? Started by: Joald on Jun 20, '21 13:17

Herbert walks by with fond memories of how the current regime came into power.

A rogue only stays a rogue if they lose. Remember, it was not to long ago that rogues with an ideology of removing purging and other nasty tactics that were making this world worse for wear in the long run took over.

You'll never have everyone happy though, time moves on and people forget how bad things can really get. They start to want power for themselves, start to see a problem with the way things are going, start to have reason of there own.

Nothing lasts forever.

A rogue is only a rogue if they lose though. History is written by the winners.

Didn't you Technically rogue on Saanvi, Mr. Hermit Crab?

I guess that could be a win in the short term, but everything in this world is temporary. SALT is soluble. SWEET sugar is too, but at least you can add some lemon and have lemonade. SWEET lemonade. (1 credit to the person that messages me the reference).

Generally speaking though, there is no such thing as a winning individual rogue. One could argue that ones that do it for vengeance get a "win" (a personal win), but at the same time, some might view it as disgraceful etc etc. Ones that do it for strategic purposes do it as a sacrifice; they die, and that's still kinda not a win. Like a sacrificing a piece in chess, for the long game. Now, a group of what some might define as rogues taking over everything, that would be a win, but a lone rogue is incapable of this.

Important to remember that 95% of Rogues think that what they are doing is right. There have been plenty of instances in the past that CL's underneath a GF shot their Chairman and things were better. There have also been plenty of rogues that have helped end tyranny.

The most important thing to remember is that History is Written by the Victors

I am no longer taking part in this conversation. I am getting a little disgusted with the fact that people want hot discussion topics but when one is presented they attack the speaker and make off topic remarks, and try to make the topic irrelevant when it is not.

Sharing stories of why people have rouged teaches us what the members of this society deem deviant behavior of their leaders.

I find it sad that you people do not want tell your leaders what they do wrong, but accept them telling you what you do wrong. That is letting your leaders be  hypocritical especially since we all know it is not what you do around here  but who you know that gets you where you are.

Now I am taking my leave of this conversation. I will be back when I think of a new controversial topic that people are scared to talk about.

I find it interesting that every “discussion” you bring to the streets you have to make it a point to tell everyone you’re done with it just as it’s starting to get good.

I think someone can tell their leader what they did wrong without broadcasting ones shortcomings or what someone who rouges may persevere as a shortcoming to the world. For may rouges to truly explain why they rouged there would have to be so much information divulged that you just have to take at face value. Then it’s just going to be shot down or question by every Tom, dick, and Harry who happens by this thread. You tell me what sensible person wants to subject themselves to that?

Hardon hears the words Tom, Dick and Harry and looks around nervously....

There are a few things wrong with your comments Joald but apparently we can't comment on that.....we must keep it 'on topic' which I assume is dictated by your expectations and outcome so firstly this is not a discussion or debate by definition. The streets are the streets have your say but don't have a hissy fit when people have a different view.....do one of those things were people walk the streets talking to themselves and save yourself the stress of a person speaking in a way you find unacceptable.

Rogue is rogue, the reasoning behind it might make it more palatable to some or at least add context and information not known previously to a wider audience. In all my journals and stories heard in whispers very few rogues are successful in whatever thier desired outcome is. They know that at the point they make their choices. A few have but not many. It is frankly ridiculous that you call people scared for not boasting about going rogue....by its nature a rogue needs to be discreet and have great contacts and communication skills, planning, resources etc....not shout about it in the streets. You say you want controversial topics then get replies then don't like them so run away. I am an absolute advocate for people speaking their minds in the streets but on this one its....well back to ridiculous again to be honest.

Rogues will rogue, I am sure they all feel their purpose was worth the risk. Agree with other speakers MIGHT be a convo at some point with your crew leader but not to strangers in the streets especially ones that only allow comments from those deemed acceptable to the speaker. Maybe the question should be tell us as you started this speech Joald of your rogue adventures....maybe you could educate us little minded petty people for taking time to respond to your street speech? Or better still what is the next plan? Educate us please Sir....

well Gates It is my discussion I did start it and it would be rude to take my leave of it  and leave people to address me in a comment when I am no longer paying attention.

I am sorry you do not like  me trying to be polite,  hell if you  all you can do is find fault in me, find me offensive, or unpleasant in any way . Then I suggest you quit finding me, Because I am not changing.

Report Post Tip

Sorry matey wrong again it can't be 'your discussion'

Some future books describe what a discussion is as:

the action or process of talking about something in order to reach a decision or to exchange ideas

a conversation or debate about a certain topic

a detailed treatment of a particular topic in speech or writing

You MIGHT tenuously maybe say possible the third the rest nope......so a 'discussion' with yourself with your rules on whats allowed and not also known as not a discussion at all.....

She couldn't help it, she started laughing. The woman had stated she was no longer taking part, tried to paint herself as some poor victim and then carried on talking. "I think someone is trying to become a martyr themselves without having to go through the headache of being a rogue." she muttered to the person next to her. With another snort of laughter Grace took her own leave, but actually left, as it was clear this was a pointless discussion with a child who wanted nothing more than a pat on the head and gold start for being so edgy and cool.

Now, Joald..

Did you get any answers from Timberland, FishTheKitty or WORDSMASHPOW after you asked them why and how?

Or did you bring the topic up just to bring the topic up and did you never intend to listen to what others would say about it if it wasn't what you wanted to hear?

Phil stood there, arms raised, clearly annoyed with his flying license taken from him

The spring based, moustachio'd animation sproings up to Phil and presents him with a rickshaw

'Here you go mate, perhaps we could start a new enterprise?

oh, and on the subject of rogues, they fucking rock, they make life interesting and get the endorphins flowing, my squirrelly God ancestor was a victime but i wouldn't change them for the world, long may they continue to make our life exciting'

Report Post Tip

Personally as I come from a line who has rogued more than once for various reason i don't see all rogues as the same.

I think some including myself in the past have built capped guns fast to hit certain targets.

We have lazy rogues who often look for the 1%

and those with low guns who hit what they can to weaken a crew

and trained guns who do what damage they can.

Add to that some are more experienced and co-ordinated especialy around how many pro'ers they bring if any, who they can rally to their cause due to their ties to society.

At the bottom we have the reason for the rogue.

We differentiate again.

Boredom,
anger at leadership
Grudges.
Changing the society
Weakening those in power
Bloodlning
Failure of leadership at crew.

There are many reasons to rogue or pro a rogue, all the reasons aren't the same and is a case by case scenario.

My mother pro'd a rogue as she was unhappy with Detroit.

It lacked leadership, ishot reports not taken, no access to IA lists, when a GF chairman is only seen when rogues appear is no wonder some crews will fall into dissaray, and hold onto 6-7 month inactive crewmembers like Peter_Mcneil does.    The truth is being a leader is a hard job and not everyone is up to the task, but anyone can be a rogue, even if a shit one.   The simple truth is just because people moan and complain about how the world is, it changes very little.   For many people the regimes changing means very little, as they still don't like who is on top.

Is the same way some people at the bottom will always be as salty as some at the top, nothing will please them and they would be better off leaving the society altogether.

The statements broad, but fact is, you are never going to stop all rogues, there will be always someone who reacts, and people with little to lose will often help.   Some people really like to see the world burn.

Chuck liked an entertaining chat as much as the next man and this one had seemed quite pertinent.

I welcome your quite prescient question Joald.  Phil is just unhappy to be grounded but given the legroom in those ridiculously low cost airlines he ran what would you expect.  I was almost wearing my knees as earrings.

These streets are pretty grim and I'm not meaning the chat in the streets I just mean the life we lead and the shadows cast by those above so anything that stirs the pot even slightly is loved by those with no power to influence.

I think rogues are misunderstood, many have tried to tame a rogue and failed but like that springy thing says they get the juices flowing.  Whether that's those trying to hunt them or those sitting wondering what comes next.  If they weren't around life would just be even more shit than it already is.

Report Post Tip

Truth is dpeending on the person behind the rogue lineage, you dont have to tame a rogue, if they feel the loyalty is two way, then the iIssue isn't a problem.

Some people though will screw over anyone to get what they want.

Report Post Tip

I like the cut of your jib Rude.

Very well said Sir!
