The Weekly Gazette

July 17, Last Issue

Prologue: The Editor-in-Chief Letter to the Community

It pains my heart to bring you guys these news. Unfortunately, this is going to be the last issue of The Weekly Gazette. I have been unlucky for a while now (My grandmother Roya was killed because of other's people's bullshit, same with my father, Colonel_Ives) and it's a pain to lose all the work because of stupid decisions commited not by me, but by other people. To be really honest, i wish i had done more awful stupid fucking shit, that i'd least be owning up to the consequences. Perhaps i really did commit some mistakes, like speaking my mind (which caused childish people to get butthurt), but i don't see it as a reason to get constantly killed, which makes me wonder if we are living amongst facists. Anyway, i want to thank you all for the support, for everyone who ever said a kind word about my newspaper and for each of you who went to my relatives funerals, it brought me a lot of joy writing The Weekly Gazette and making myself useful for this community. I will try my best to be unbiased here (and i will fail miserably), even if its something that deeply affects me and i'll try my best to not make this sad and grimy, even if i'm feeling terribly upset and sad and in no mood at all to write. I wish you all the best.

The MidpoinT War and Subsequent Events

Our newspaper shared with you last week detailed information about MidpoinT's demise. Shortly after the 4th issue of The Weekly Gazette was released, the last Editor-In-Chief started receiving death threats, someone wanted him dead with the quickness. Later that evening, when The Colonel was sleeping, someone which we have absolute certain was spacey put a 100 million dollar hit on him and 100 million dollar on his GFC TheBeast. Our new editor-in-chief is a proud person, so she can understand that spacey decided to act like a 11 year old butthurt child (that tells us a lot about him) for the paper exposing him and his apology to MidpoinT. TheBeast got news of these hits and hurriedly sent a letter to GFC Marston, which apparently ignored him completely, leaving TheBeast without answer and without support. That's when he decided to take action and we heard from a reliable source that his words before taking action were these:

Fuck it, i'm shooting this pussy. I ain't going out like a bitch.

Very well said. He then shot spacey and since this was an unsanctioned kill, NY and PH (we don't know if other cities were involved) united forces and the massacre started. First to die was Colonel_Ives, who died peacefully in his sleep. He had a 100 million hit on his head and since he was going to die anyway, Balls, his friend decided to shoot him and take the money for himself. Then, minute after minute, hour after hour, CH was slowly wiped out. TheBeast was very tired and still had a 100 million hit on his head, so he corageously shot himself and as a last "fuck you" message to spacey, made the money disappear into thin air. Good lad. In the end, every and each death wasn't worth it and it could've been avoided by spacey simply asking his GFC's authorization before taking action. We hope that this story serves as an example to everyone who thinks that hierarchy doesn't matter. Respect your GFC's. We wish our deepest condolences to the fallen.

Aftermath

The Colonel's daughter had come to these shores in hopes of continuing his work with the newspaper. Christabella decided then to join his dear friend Balls. He explained to her that he was the one that killed Colonel_Ives and explained why. She wasn't upset. That's when she noticed Ian on the Streets talking about spacey, and she decided to give her opinion. Unfortunately, speaking your mind in these shores its the fastest way to get a one way ticket to the graveyard. Balls killed Christabella, the last of The Colonel's kin who still had some spirit and will to live, sealing this paper's fate.

Also, there's still a hole in our beloved Chicago. We are yet to see who will fill that hole. We have heard rumors that a power move will happen soon, perhaps in a month. This was on the letter we received.

i guess west coast and DT will eventually hit east coast, depending on who gets Chi. There's a split and everyone knows it

We can only hope that this is not true and that if it really is, it doesn't take many lives.

Last Words

"Our editor-in-chief is extremely sad to go, but sometimes, that's the way that things have to be. We want to wish our colleague and rival JournalistHarold very good luck with his newspaper (which apparently now will be the one and only) and may he never loses his spirit and never stops speaking his mind, even if it risks getting him killed. And we can only hope that our Streets one day become a safe and democratic place again, where we can speak our minds without getting shot. We wish you all the best!"

Such a shame that this is the last issue as I looked forward to reading them each week. Wish you all the best in the future and maybe one day I will see the title on the news stand again.

TomJoad winces as he reads the final column of the The Weekly Gazette...

"As someone who shoots people for speaking their minds in the Streets, I feel like this issue has portrayed people like me, unfairly, in a very negative light. I am not a bad man. I love everyone, really. But sometimes a boss needs to make an example of someone to show that respect is demanded of their position. So what happens? KABLOOEY! Dead. And we go about our business. Cosa Nostra is not a democracy."

Georgette Plunkett-Ernle-Erle-Drax family of Charborough walked the streets whistling to herself, happy that the unbearable heat of the summer decided that this week was the perfect time to break for a few days, bringing much-needed rain and clouds to the cities that were starting to stink to high heaven with a peculiar stench.

Noticing a newspaper was available Georgette quickly picked up a copy, handing over a few coins to cover the cost and started to read. She stopped walking about half a block away, blocking the pavement and annoying those around her who were just trying to make their way downtown, walking fast, they tried to pass but she blocked them.

Georgette turned around slowly and tilted her head to the side, holding up the paper slightly before calling out, "Is this a paper or did you accidentally print someone's diary?"

Nakamura couldn't believe what he was reading

My father used to read this newspaper, he even told me that he knew the editor.

It is very revolting to know about this series of events, and to feel that nothing can be done.

Does this world deserve to be taken seriously?

Is it worth following the rules?

Is it worth obeying the law?

Nakamura saved that last newspaper with great affection, got in the car and left.

I want to make it known that this isn't the result of a Journalistic Newspaper Conspiracy or anything like that. I have no hand in the unfortunate cancellation of The Gazette.

Here's the thing about this, the main thing about this. What I personally believe about everything that happened, my personal opinion: You're going to love this, you know? How I feel about it, and everything that I think about this specific instance; what people would say are my most private thoughts on the matter, the type of thoughts that sort of jingle around in your head for a while before you speak them in an awkward manner, flubbing them just a bit to the point where the original thought that you were thinking isn't even coming out of your mouth anymore. You ever had one of those? Because that's what I'm about to say here.

Are you ready? I don't think you are. You know why I don't think so? Well, it reminds me of a story, or rather a parable that I was told when I was a young child-- honestly, a parable is most likely not the right word for it, but I can't think of what it could actually be considered, its on the tip of my tongue and I'm getting a little bit annoyed.

The duck stops for a moment and taps the ground with his webbed foot, clearly reaching deep inside of his brain for the word. It lasts a lot longer than it should, honestly. A few more minutes pass, and then he looks back up and he smiles the best that a duck can, it looks a bit ridiculous but the attempt was there and that should be respected.

I guess parable was the right word. Anyways, so there's this guy, or is it a bear? Does someone walk into a bar? I really should have prepared better before doing this. My head is all over the place right now, I'm so sorry. I'm so embarrassed. Oh, yeah. So the dog goes to his owner and says "Wait, this isn't right. Fuck. I'm fucking this all up." No, the dog doesn't say anything cause its just a normal dog. Stop. I'm going to leave and come back once I'm ready, I clearly came unprepared.

A lot like TheBeast to his own attack. Hahaha. I did all of this for that little set up. That was a good one. Haha.

Anyways, bye.

Georgette, its incredible to me that you have never bought a copy of this newspaper before, you never had anything good to say about any issue, but when the editor publishes an issue concerning the events that led to his death, you come here and say shit about it. That really says a lot about you, my dear. Grow the fuck up."

Marston picked up a copy of the newspaper the clown had left and began scanning the headlines. He laughed and shook his head as he read the final joke about democracy. He looked around and saw some people loitering reading the paper that weren't laughing, and thought he would help by explaining the jokes to them.

"I'll address first the death of MidpoinT... People could argue all day about whether or not he should have died for his actions. While the crime looks clear on paper... He killed the bodyguards of another leader as a practical joke. These men weren't strangers to each other and there was perhaps a more personal element to it than just an attack on the leader of another city. This incident should have been resolved amicably through discussion between the leaders of Philadelphia and Chicago, however this isn't what happened. But hey, play silly games - win silly prizes…

Enter spacey. A conversation in a coffeeshop led to spacey receiving the information that MidpoinT was taking random rogue shots at leader's bodyguards and was only still alive because no hitmen were available at that time. At the mention of the word 'rogue' spacey sprung into action and announced he would heroically do the hitting himself. Unfortunately no one was around to challenge him on whether this was the best course of action, so the shot was taken and MidpoinT killed.

Alarm bells were sounded, I was called back from my family trip to deal with the situation. Myself and Balls both spoke with TheBeast in an attempt to calm the situation and avoid further bloodshed. We'd dealt with situations in the past and managed to come up with solutions that didn't result in more death. An example that comes to mind is the vile comments and disrespect shown at certain funerals by the late Colonel_Ives. Traditionally any grave pissing or behaviour of this manner would result in an execution, but in the interest of our allies in Chicago and their lack of manpower, it was allowed to pass, a life was spared in their interest.

This time it appeared we had managed to come to another agreement that would be in both of our interests, spacey would pay a large sum of compensation to the family of MidpoinT and in doing so be absolved of any further punishment. In the same conversation I also told TheBeast that due to personal circumstances I was completely unavailable on the means of communication we were conversing on, and that in the event he was unable to communicate with me that my RHM and Balls both had the authority to make decisions for me in my absence as they both had my absolute trust and were able to reach me by other methods.

And I believed that was that, the matter was settled when spacey paid compensation in good faith to the family of MidpoinT, and it seemed we could move on from this and learn some valuable lessons. That was until the following morning…

I was woken by my RHM who informed me that a humongous hit had been placed on Colonel_Ives with the note attached saying “Oops should have been your bgs for the lolz”. My RHM also used his initiative and gathered a list of names of all possible culprits, while I visited the homes of all known rich mafioso to ascertain whether they had made any recent trips. Of course I checked on spacey to hopefully eliminate him from the possibilities, and fortunately discovered it could not have possibly been him that placed the hit. Once my initial investigations were complete, I had other business to attend, my RHM and other personnel were left to monitor the situation. I was sent a hurried message from my RHM informing me that another hit for 100m had been placed, this time on GFC TheBeast, this time with the note “#BlameMiddy”.

It was very apparent that somebody was trying to reignite the tensions from the previous day. The tensions had been made public by Colonel_Ives in his newspaper, in an article saturated in bias, with revelations of inner workings that probably shouldn't be publicised. Clearly a troublemaker had used these revelations and a small stack of credits to attempt to provoke a reaction from TheBeast, and adding notes that might fool anyone gullible or a system one thinker into thinking it was spacey.

My RHM informed me he was speaking to TheBeast about the situation, and I told my RHM to share the intelligence we had gathered, ensuring TheBeast was in no doubt that spacey was not involved in the hitlisting and that we were doing what we could to help identify who was involved.

However, this was just a hitlisting no bullets were being fired, and no-one with the skill to successfully carry out such a hit had any reason to eliminate someone who until this point had been nothing but a staunch ally. This was not an attack or any sort of urgent life and death business, and did not call for any action at this point beyond the observations we were already partaking in. Unfortunately TheBeast didn’t think it through in such a logical, rational manner as the rest of us, and shot spacey dead without considering the consequence.

The consequence was the elimination of his entire criminal empire in Chicago. You all saw how that went down, and you're entitled to your own opinions on it"

Finished with the paper he tossed it in a nearby bin, and walked into a nearby bar to get himself a drink

There are two morals to come from the fine commentary from my good friend Marston.

The first is that a functioning media is vital to this thing of ours.

The second is that never again should a partial, foul-mouthed, grave disrespecting goon be allowed to publish a newspaper.
