A fresh start or not Started by: Alfonzo on May 11, '08 02:36
Cracks his back as he walks into the street...looking at some old faces, some new faces and some faces that seem to be new.. but have a very old and familiar look

I come out here for a discussion, a sharing of views and a forum for expression of ideas. Its very often that we see someone popular murdered, someone who had made a name for themselfs in these streets. They make a name for themselfs - sometimes a good name and sometimes a bad name (We can all think of a few from both sides..the good and the bad).

They get murdered and then a while later we hear a word on the street that their son is around and looking for work..He looks like a clean cut kid, hair done up and a finely pressed suit. He approaches you in a very polite manner and is on his P's and Q's.

You run your own family, your in charge of your own actions and what you do. You want to see your family grow and prosper and never have problems but you also want to be fair and treat his son differently because his father is dead and this is his son..but a part of you want to be biased based on your facts you know..

So I bring this up for discussion: Do you give the kid a chance? Even knowing what his father had done.. maybe he killed, robbed or violated omerta..or broke family policy..

Do you treat him equal or do you kick him to the curb to find a new city to reside in?

Squints his eyes as he glares into the sun.. taking a deep breath of the gunsmoke and smiling..

In that position, I'd give the son a fair chance. If it involves breaking omerta or family principles, then I'll make it a point to monitor him a bit more than usual. All in all though, everyone's bloodline regardless of severity should be given a fair shot at proving themselves a worthy asset.

I believe it has to be assessed on a case by case basis. Some people like to moan about how there are certain families or individuals who are known to openly hunt bloodlines, and that this is unfair as the son should not have to pay for the sins of the father. However, I believe it is fair in some cases to quite safely assume that some individuals will attempt to carry on with their family's legacy.

Some might still say it is unfair to make this assumption, but who can know whether these actions are merely pre-emptive, or if they are acts of revenge? We are mafiosos after all. Blood vendettas are not unheard of.

Hahaha.

Fresh starts.

That's cute, it really is.

In my opinon I say, give the kid a chance. His father may have done something wrong, but it's a possibility that it doesn't run in the family and the kid can do some help to the family. Give them a shot and let them prove themselves and prove that they aren't their father.

My Grandfather once had to deal with the actions of his father, it's not fair, people learn from mistakes. If he isn't given a shot, then their bloodline is doomed forever, for one mistake that could never happen again.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it :)

And you should Sao...As everyone needs a fresh start..

I clearly wasn't paying enough attention when Alfonzo spoke, but the same principle applies, in my opinion.
Report Post Tip
Whether or not the kid gets a chance to prove himself/herself really depends on what his father/mother did, in my opinion.

If it's simply a case of breaking a rule, then it should have ended with the death of the parent as they broke the rule. If it's something that potentialy lies a little deeper and you feel that the kid will try to finish whatever the parent started, then take them on and watch them closely. As a wise man once said, keep your friends close, and your enemies closer!

What about if their father extorted money from others?

Should he be shot for the sins that his father committed? As a crewleader is it ok to invite someone and shoot them for what their father did?

Maybe the son is proud of the fact his father was able to prey on those weak minded and trusting enough to hand over money without any sort of guarantee. Is there anything wrong with being proud of your father?

For me. A persons sins die with them. They are equal with me and I will have no disrespect for them after that. Their son could be a completely different person. Why should he suffer for what his father did?

You see I think that there isn't anyone here whos relatives haven't commited some sort of wrong in the past. I think that depending on what they did, and how damaging their damage was they should be forgiven. Yet also it is going to be up to whoever that judge maybe.

For example if someone killed my father, and shit on my mothers grave there is noway that I would forgive them. Not in a million years I would hunt them down and every relative they have. Yet if someone borrowed money and forgot to pay it back that could be forgiven.

As much as I want to say that we need to cast aside all prejudice and doubt and give the son or daughter a clean slate I'll have to say that we have to act smart. I don't want to have an individual who disregards rules outrightly and pays no respect to anyone.

In the end, I won't get him or her to join my family to simplify life.

I believe that everyone gets a fresh start, maybe they have fucked up in the past, i know i have. If we didnt then we would never show our faces on these streets again and get a normal 9 to 5 job
Report Post Tip
I presume the question relating to bringing them on and shooting them was retorical, bighead?

Lets face it, kids are almost 99% of the time going to be a heck of a lot like thier parents. But you have to give them the benefit of the doubt, until someone steps out of line, he or she should be treated just like anyone who has never had any family ties to our world.

The sins of the father is passed to his son, meaning that even though it should be a fresh start the son will always live by the same principles of his father, no matter how much u say u have changed the sins of the father will a haunt the son, in which he are labeled by your fathers actions which is just, I mean if your father murdered people, it is just to assume that the son is not far off, in which the player knew his consequences for his actions and must pay for it, this being said its not a definitive yes give him a chance and no, its more of a you should watch the son, because most of the time the angers beliefs and grudges of the father pass onto the son. in which the answer is souly up to the crew leader, in which he or she will have to look out for..

thank you

"I couldn't be arsed reading everyone's replies...so if this has already been said let it be known, that person stole my thoughts. Np

"Anyways this all depends on specific situations and the person, persons involved. Somebody's reputation will always be stained by a foul act. Even if this "Fresh start" you speak of is given. The underlying facts are you know this persons dirty past, thoughts of which will linger in the back of your mind, always.

"Perhaps a chance should be given, but on the other hand fuck them. They broke the code now they can start again, a new fresh line of inbreds.

"Whatever the case it all comes down to the level of ass kissing involved. btw any imbreds in need of ass kissing tips drop me a line." npnp

By no means in our world should someone's actions be forgotten.

We remember loyalty, trust, respect, and personality from generation to generation. Why then would we not remember rats, fiends, back stabbers, and murderers?

Every action one can make will be reciprocated throughout his lineage.

One then should be biased against those who have wronged him, but by no means does that he should be hunted down.

Instead he should always be watched, carefully.

I say that people believe are only two views on this matter, one of course is to let bygones be bygones and forget that he is the son of a bad father. The Other is to set the sins of the father on the son and to punish the child for said sins. There is in fact a third view and this view is simply this, The son did not commit the sins the father did and so should not be punished for what the father did. At the same time though the son is the child of a bad bad man and should be watched closely to see if he has the same values or flaws as the father. If so you punish them accordingly but only after they have proved they intend to be bad bad men, not before.
Report Post Tip
I believe it giving a fresh start if a person makes 1 mistake then most people can find it in them to forgive.

The problem lies when it's not just the father but, repeated generations that constantly do things to ensure a bad reputation for there son's or daughters.

A wise son of bad legacy would do no less than fervently remove himself from it.

A wise son's got his place here.

A dumb one doesn't.
