Favorite Mafia/ Crime Movie | Started by: Taylor_Callaghan on Feb 09, '24 03:26 |
For me it has to be Goodfellas, I grew up playing Vice City and idolized Ray Liotta as Tommy Vercetti, plus I've always been a history nerd and it's based on the true story. The cast has all my favorite goombas in it, Joe Pesci, Robert De Niro, of course Ray Liotta as Henry Hill. Curious what everyone else chooses tho and RIP Ray Liotta. |

The Godfather The Godfather is the most memorable, most influential, most quoted, most beloved, most discussed, most imitated, most revered and most entertaining American movie ever made. |

It has to be The Godfather for me. There are loads over the years though that are very good, but none even come close to how good The Godfather was, especially for its time. |

This is such a tough question, especially if you grew up like me idolizing gangster movies as I'm sure many of the people here have. My favorite and as I mentioned, not an easy thing to pick would probably be "Casino". The fact that it was based on a true story is great, but also the story itself is amazing if I say so myself. The classic rise and fall, love and betrayal. A masterpiece!

The Godfather I, the music has got to be some of the best Italian mafia style music ever created and played. I didn't enjoy the second or third as much but still a good trilogy. The game is also pretty entertaining and stay in line with some/most of the movie story as well. |

I think the mob tale I enjoyed the most was the one where the guy, he was an uncle or something, he's in his garage and he's inventing things, like state of the art carburettors, and he's really pleased about that until these four guys show up, I think they were wearing suits, and they destroy his carburettor and tell him that his days as a carburettor inventor are done. That was a really good one. |

Godfather and Goodfellas are both excellent, but I think my favorite crime movie has to be Scarface. That movie is an awesome watch the whole way through and has some very iconic scenes that will forever be burned into my memory. Also it has some of the funniest edited for TV lines ever. "This whole town is like a chicken, just waiting to be plucked." |

Mr and Mrs Smith, the series - i have just started wtching it and have seen the first three episodes. It is really good - nothing like the film, but more about the people involved and relationships - so much more depth than the film. I recommend that you try it. |

Personally Goodfellas. Nothing can beat that can it? But then you got the other iconic movies such as Once Upon a Time in America, The Godfather series, Scarface, The Departed, Reservoir Dogs, Carlito's way, Pulp Fiction, Casino, Heat and most recently The Irishman. |

For me I'd say Bronx Tale. It was such an authentic movie. It had the vibe of a true mob movie, but also could be considered a love story. Sonny is one of the best movie mob bosses I've seen in a mob movie. I'd recommend it to anyone that has love for mob movies. |

My top 3 are Godfather, Scarface and GoodFeellas. Grew up playing the godfather and mafia series of ps3,ps4. Just recently ventured into GTA 5 online but also played vice city a bit as a kid. Love anything crime related |

Time and a place for a few of them, I’d like to rewatch The Godfather Trilogy at some point as it’s been a while. The old scenes in GF2 very good. Otherwise I think Goodfellas probably, but a few other great contenders |

I'd have to say that Black Mass and The Irishman can compete in terms of keeping up with the Classic American Gangster flicks. The classics will never be best.. but the two aforementioned movies revived American Cinema in that specific genre.

Casino! Physically meeting and knowing the real person Joe Pesci character played makes the movie so much better. After that time was done he moved to Chicago and opened up a "legit" jewelry store and kids would steal his custom made dice emblem he had made for his Cadillac. |

It really depends on the mood. Godfather is of course a classic. Goodfellas gives off a whole different vibe. For reasons unknown, Casino has always stood out in my head. And I need to go rewatch The Departed. |
