CONTEXT

I recently discovered that it's possible to link directly to a single post in a thread:

I like this. Sometimes I want to link a specific post in a thread to someone, to have to say "check this post by MobsterBob at the bottom of this page <link>" isn't smooth and makes me look like a dork.

What is your idea?

Render a copyable link in every post, a la https://mafiareturns.com/comm/thread/2224549/page1#post-3922911.

Possible ways to do this:

• Make a small icon you can click to copy the link to a specific post to your clipboard
• Turn the date at the bottom right of the post into a clickable link similar to what's already done for the poster's name (i.e Nov 25, '24 17:13)

What does your idea entail?

I believe it's only changing how posts are rendered, since the highlighting of linked-to posts already exists.

Of course I'm not a wizard so I can't look into the existing code / database, but I speculate no big scary changes have to be made and this rendering can be implemented with all the information that already exists in the game/database of posts.

My suspicion is that there's no major changes needed.

Users can link directly to posts when wanting to share something from the forums with each other.

None, besides the effort needed to implement this of course.

It has no impact on the game mechanics themselves. It's a cosmetic / user interface thing.
