i have been playing mafiareturns on and off now for many a year and what im sadly noticing is a massive falling in the standard of a number of things such as

ascosiates are invited without more than a couple of sentences being exchanged it used to be that the person wanting to join your crew had to write a detailed application as to why they wanted to join your crew and a list of previous characters having been on the game before. this is no longer the case potential associates are just mailed asking to join the crew, as this is a mafia role playing game the process of inviting new members should not be so easy.

respect is another thing on the down trend in this game it for example people are insuting at funerals and this goes unpunished. i for one belive that a persons funeral should be respected unless the reason they are there is so severe.

families seem to just war over nothing without the lower ranks in the family being informed as to why, people who are spending time building up a character and money often come online to find themselves dead because of a bosses poor decision to go to war without reason or planning.

the under 48 hour rule is there for a reason but i see people break it all the time and bosses do not enforce punishment at all.

families do not seem to bond in the way they used to or communicate as much. i remember the days of boston george....now that was a boss

Funny that... I've not experienced this as of late, although I did experience it during previous "eras" such as the Roman/Prem time.

I've had nothing but great experiences with the families and crews I've been with. I also put forth my full effort and make sure to become involved in the family/crew rather than sitting back and expecting the world to be handed to me on a platter. A family or crew is only as good as its members and if you or others aren't willing to put forth the effort then it will be shit.

Rules are different for each crew/family/city so to group all together is something that you should not do. Ever think that your findings are as much your fault as your leaders'?

Don't know why there's a war and your family is involved? Ask.

We also used to have familys of 200. Whats your point? There was a time when recruitment was selective due to vast numbers, now recruitment is nigh impossible with most people that turn up on our shores already knowing who they wish to join. So of course people will accept members almost immediately and will then assess them once they have them, rather than judge them based on a simple few exchanges.

Thankfully this died out. I still ask as i'm a nosey bastard, but a persons past is of no importance. Their "character" should remain your focus, not their bloodline.

Major pet hate of mine, most people in leadership positions won't stand for it either. I don't see a current trend of disrespect at funerals, do you have examples?

Ok, which would you like? You stated before people shouldn't be invited easily as this is a Mafia game, yet you think low ranks of little or no significance in the real mafia are to be informed of whats going on because this is a game? Can't have it both ways, either you want it realistic or you don't buddy.

Though I can't think of a single family i've been part of that didnt keep its members informed during times of war, so you've evidently drawn a short straw on that one, or i've been really lucky.

I don't mean to seem like i'm having a go at you, but I don't feel the same as you do and figured i'd paint another perspective.

my point is the selection process is not what it used to be, ofcourse some members will be invited straight away as they may be returning characters and such.

Uh, if you really are putting all your effort into your family/crew then you wouldn't even blink at jumping to bat and asking what is going on and offering to help out any way you can. If you are truly putting forth all effort then you will ask a simple question or two rather than, again, waiting for this information to be handed to you.

My bosses have always informed us of our position when it comes to war ahead of time, unless of course we were the ones being attacked.. Even then they mailed us explaining that. Have you taken into account that wartime is a very busy time for the leadership of a family.

Again, a crew/family is only as good as its members.. The effort you put into your crew or family is reflected by the effort they put into you. Being a click monkey isn't effort, it's being a cash cow.

Well then, that's simple.. Instead of joining the first crew/family that sends you an invite try asking around about the leader and their upper structure. See if the crew/family meets your needs since you seem to have a few.

My eyes are wide open and very aware of the state of the game thank you and I've been here since day one (almost literally actually). I spend my time reading and communicating with my leader and those in my family. I wander the streets, the business districts, and obviously here...

I make sure I am a part of the community.

Not all crews and families are run the way you seem to be portraying here. Maybe it's just the one you are in or were in. You are making a statement about ALL crews when you do not have knowledge of ALL crews. You are making generalizations of all Sponsors when you have not been with all Sponsors.

How can you make these observations about crews and families that you have nothing to do with? Your opinion is based on personal experiences with probably a small number of crews/families recently, seeing how you are a Capo which is hardly a lower rank.

Not overly respectful... Who's to say that the funeral disrespect you have said you have seen go unpunished by death or demotion has not been dealt with in another way, like fines? At the same time, who is to say the deadified person hasn't done something.. Ooh how did you put it? Ahh yes.. "very severe".
