The War: My Perspective Started by: Marston on Apr 04, '12 22:02

Well, well, well, Mr. Marston.
i really feel the need to respond to this speech of you now.

First of all.

*and Corbin disappeard with his tail between his legs*

As stated by Dr. Bunsen - it was only RL that kept him from causing a lot more damage.

Second.

There was never a doubt in his mind about stepping in to assist NO.
When he woke up and found two of his man in the obits and at least one failed attempt on another member in the middle of a war he knew his city was under fire. No matter what rank these members had. Insignificant you call that!? You see? He ran a FAMILY. EVERY member was important to him. No matter who or what. And he was willing to defend his members till the bitter end.

I must say i feel sorry for the members below Made Man in your CREW. Obviously they are seen as insignificant...

Besides this reason, there was another reason for stepping in.

Loyalty

Did you ever heard about that? Do you even know what that word means? I really hope you do.

Loyalty to the city he grew up in. Loyalty to his former GF who authed him and loyalty to all his friends in NO who where about to be slaughtered.
To me these are reasons enough to step in.

Maybe, just maybe you should get your 'facts' straightened before trying to give us such a speech again...

Report Post Tip

Kurtz had bit his lip for long enough.

Ok cretins listen up. You are going desperately far out of your way to make something out of this 'Insignificant' comment. Lets set the record straight here and hopefully prevent any more underwear being thrown around you fucking pathetic excuses for men.

The term insignificant was used in relation to prioritized targets in a war scenario. It was NOT used as a valuation of the individuals as people or their merits as members of their families. As family members I am sure they were loyal and valued members who's contribution while alive and subsequent loss in death will have been felt greatly. However. In war, as the two were asleep and neither possessed any great known fire-power, they were both deemed 'insignificant' in terms of shot allocations and priorities for the hitters taking part in the war effort.

I hope that rather long winded explanation of a very simple point helps you hysterical nitwits settle your all too easily frayed nerves.

Report Post Tip

First of all Virgil, this is the street... I have no idea what this "RL" is that you refer to. From the street perspective your father brought your city into the conflict, then fled from battle...

Second of all, if Philadelphia were always come to the aid of New Orleans, why wait so long, and why make out like it was because of the two insignificant deaths I mentioned?

Yes, insignificant... I will explain because you are either slow or stupid. A significant death that would be a warning sign that you're city is under attack... Given the circumstances that would be one of the leaders, one of the hands, or a hitter perhaps. If you were in fact under fire at this point, I assure you that your father would have never woken from his slumber, so to assume that from the deaths of a Made Man and an Earner is quite frankly ridiculous!

Now I'm guessing there's some kind of language barrier here because I've never referred to people as being insignificant, and if you are trying to insinuate that I don't value every member of my family and city, I suggest you run and hide.

Loyalty... Yes, your father may have been loyal to the man that gave him his power. But what about the crew he was responsible for? Was this their fight? Had they also sworn loyalty to Stamina? Did they want to be led to their deaths to aid a city they were no part of?

Report Post Tip

Hmm, cretin, nitwit, pathetic excuses for men...way to drag this otherwise civilized dispute down into the sewers Kurtz. This really shows the caliber of individuals L.A. allows into it's ranks as Made members. I think I'll let that speak for itself now.

As for the "insignificant" remarks, it was simply stated that Marston could have chosen better words, whether he chooses to acknowledge that or not, for you to come along and throw a tantrum about it being pointed out doesn't really help anything.

Report Post Tip

Marine, if you want me to treat you like a man, act like one. Its not complicated. I simply asked for the people throwing tantrums to get a grip. If you want to have a hissy fit about it, thats up to you.

As far as commenting on the members of my city. I'd watch your mouth.

Report Post Tip

As I said in my previous statement he breaks unwritten rules or codes we live by all the time,I guess I meant one of your grandfathers not you but he had the same name.

Report Post Tip

Marston, even if the two deaths in the city were not "warning signs" as you put it, how about the attempt on the life of a loyal member that held a fair bit of respect in the family, with a more than adequate gun to do his share...are we forgetting that attempt now already? That sort of screams warning sign as the attempt on a hitter, you said so yourself.

Now that aside, the death of a Made Man, I'm sure in any aspect of this thing of ours, a Made Man holds a position of respect and power himself in the city, and is at the very least a symbol, and attacking him is also a pretty fair warning that someone may be coming after you. That's 2 out of the 3 mentioned, as for the 3rd, being an earner, maybe it was simply somebody looking for an easy kill during the war, hoping that it would be covered up, but regardless, this is THREE shots taken at members of the same family, any good leader would act at this point rather than wait for a fourth, or even fifth shot to be taken while being diplomatic with people who would obviously not tell the truth IF they did authorize the shots.

Now, the aid of Stamina, again, you were not there when the decision was made, every member that was awake at the time willingly agreed that it was time to do something, after 3 seperate attacks on members of the family, yes, all of them were ready to stand, and die if that's what it meant. It was not just Corbin throwing his family's lives out, it was his family letting him know they were ready to try and protect their city, and the GF that authed their family. They all had loyalty to Stamina and N.O. for that, unlike some none of them forgot where their family came from.

Report Post Tip

Kurtz, I'm trying to remain civil, I'm not the one who jumped into the streets throwing insults around like dollar bills in a strip club. Now, as far as commenting on members of your city, I'm simply stating what every other man and woman in the streets right now can see.

Report Post Tip

I'm simply stating what every other man and woman in the streets right now can see.

What i can see is someone who obviously cant let go of the past, regardless of the reasoning behind his decisions Corbin chose to go to war which resulted in the the downfall of Philly, now i have read contradicting stories here one is saying an investigation went into the deaths of these fallen members yet another is saying Corbin awoke to find them dead then went straight to war, seems everyone thinks they know what happened. ITS OVER MOVE ON!

Report Post Tip

After remaining in the shadows, listening to the rest of the world throw around their accusations and pathetic attempts at insults at his Crew Leader and Right Hand Man, Sammy stepped forward, letting the light hit him. He docked out the cigar he had been smoking on a near by wall and sniggered a little, before getting ready to speak

"I'm not really sure where to start on this. There is clearly a lot of unresolved tension from The_Marine towards Los Angeles and it's members in particular. There also seems to be a rather sour taste in Virgill's mouth, maybe a nice spoonful of sugar could help the poor little guy."

Sammy shrugs his shoulders, before continuing

"Obviously, people are going to have very warped, very biased views about the war. It did last for over 48 hours of course, at which point we were all getting very tired and lethargic. There weren't a great percentage of people that actually entered into it at the start, and came out of it still alive at the end"

Sammy ponders where to begin for a moment, shaking his head a few times and sniggering again

"So the reason for the war has already been pointed out, so I won't even bother getting into that mess. I'll jump forward to the accusations fired at Los Angeles members of shooting at Corbin's members, and Corbin's decision to join the war. "While an attack on a member of the city is very serious, the magnitude of the attack was very little, even smaller when you consider the amount of people that were already lay dead in the streets. Marston and Kurtz have already described a great deal, but it seems people still have a little difficulty understanding. "Two members of Corbin's family were shot at, an Earner and a Made Man, as has already been said. Obviously Corbin would've been understandably upset at losing members of his family. So what to do in retaliation? Obviously you assume that it must have something to do with the war, and just decide to join in, and shoot at whoever, right? "Exactly, wrong. Without any proof from a Witnesses Statement, how would Corbin know that it was Los Angeles that had fired the shots? He acted off instinct and without proper evidence, for all he knew, it could've been anyone of the cities that had taken these shots."

Sammy let out a long sigh, licking his lips to re-hydrate them.

"To suggest that this was the allied forces attempt at attacking Philadelphia is laughable. As was already stated, if we had wanted to attack Philadelphia, Corbin wouldn't have been able to make a decision to join the war, as he would have been lying in a pool of his own blood. Let's start thinking about what we're saying before we let the words drop out of our mouths, shall we?"

Sammy sniggered again, it seems he had been doing a lot of that recently.

"Moving on to Virgill's comments. You speak of 'friends'. Corbin's 'friends' in New Orleans. Who honestly gives two fucks about friends in a different city, if that means you pretty much sending your own city to the slaughterhouse? Corbin had a weak tie to New Orleans, given that Stamins authed him into Philadelphia. That's the point though, Corbin now had his own city to be concerned about, and that's who he should've been concerned about, not New Orleans. People have said that Corbin did the best thing for his family. Well, take a look around, do you see any of them left? No? I'm glad he isn't making any decisions on what's best for me."

Sammy sighed again, nodding his head slowly

"Of course, you can't take anything away from New Orleans. They were a powerhouse, and it took four combined cities to bring her to her knees, and that was with a lot of heavy losses for the allied forces. They fought ridiculous well for their city, and made it very difficult for us. It was in no way an easy or clean war."

Sammy rubbed his chin, and wiped his mouth

"That's about all I have to say on the matter really. Rest In Peace to all the fallen members of the seven cities, they all fought well and won't be forgotten in a rush. Now is the time to rebuild, long live Los Angeles."

Report Post Tip

Well Sammy, finally, this seems well thought out, I applaud that, but please, make sure all the facts are lined up. Not to insult your intelligence, but there were in fact, as stated several times now, 3 known shots on Philly members, 2 successful hits, and the third was a failed attempt on a Philly boss, in line and waiting for his CL for his next promotion to Consig. Now, there's no way to know for sure if there were in fact more than just the 3 that might have failed.

Now, my tension is not directed at L.A. directly, yes, I'm a little upset about my father dieing, but I'm more upset that individuals take to the streets afterwards, with their point of view or not, and show facts that are, well, inaccurate.

As for Corbin and his reasoning, 3 known reported attacks on the city is one thing, but when they come attached to trusted information that certain allied members were attacking just such people as we'd lost, that tends to be enough for most men to do what they deem necessary to try and protect their families.

Report Post Tip

Sammy looks puzzled towards The_Marine

"Not once did I try to deny that you had reports of three members of Philadelphia being shot at, two of which were killed. What I was trying to say, was what evidence did you have that these shots were from the allied forces? As if there wasn't any, it was very foolish to send an entire city to their death, on an inkling that it might possibly be someone."

Sammy smiled

"To say that people have taken to the streets with in-factual statements is rather ironic. It's just as easy for me to say that your comments are not accurate. You also really have no proof that what we are saying isn't correct."

Report Post Tip

Your "facts" make no difference to the issue at hand. The bottom line is the people who called the shots for the allied forces did not order any shots on Philadelphia prior to Corbin killing VenomousBlackBeetle. Any illegal shots against Philadelphia would have been investigated and the offending parties held responsible. That is if Philadelphia had made any attempt what so ever to contact anyone from the allied forces. They did not despite that being the first logical step if he were trying to keep his city out of the fight.

Again Corbin's reasoning really doesn't matter at this point. He had a choice to either contact the allied forces and inform them of these shots in an attempt to keep the peace between them and Philadelphia that, I assure you, would have been successful or he could throw his hat in the ring and join New Orleans and fight hard to turn the tide of the war.

He did neither.

Instead he made no attempt to keep any kind of peace and he brought his city into the war with a half hearted effort at best that was never going to turn the tide of the war. Everyone understands that business outside the seven cities has to come first but what I can not understand is if that business is going to prevent you from being able to put forth the effort needed to turn the war in your favor then why would you enter it at all? Why would you not do everything in your power to keep your city out of the fighting and alive to see another day? Hell why wouldn't even take the first step to keeping them alive and out of the war which would be to contact the allied attackers? Instead he led them to a slaughter.

Report Post Tip

Sammy, "Two members of Corbin's family were shot at, an Earner and a Made Man, as has already been said...directly from your statement, I was pointing out simply that there were more than just two. As for inaccurate facts, well, I'd say that the first hand account of a man standing next to Corbin as events progressed, well, it doesn't get much more accurate than that from the dead now does it?

Now to Donnie, what you're missing is the attempts to find out who from the beginning, when the attempt on my father's life failed, he turned to the other family in Philly for help, because the only member of any structure awake at the time was their RHM, who immediately sent a message to all the leaders of families asking for info...MANY hours later, two more men turned up dead, and all we had was reports from a still unnamed inside man. With none of the families willing to talk to us, and who would admit it was them if they knew they'd gotten away with it anyways, there was attempts, but when they were shut down with nobody willing to cooperate, Corbin was not about to sit by and let more of his sleeping members be slaughtered without at least putting up a fight to protect them.

I mean no disrespect by any of this, but again, you are also wrong in saying that my facts make no difference with the issue at hand...if you listened to what I said earlier, the only REAL issue at hand was that Marston's facts were inaccurate, after I brought this up, everyone else felt the need to make a fuss.

Report Post Tip

With none of the families willing to talk to us

How would you know that none of the families were willing to talk to Philadelphia? There was zero effort by anyone in Philadelphia to contact anyone in the allied forces about these deaths. I'm sorry not getting a response for a witness statement request earlier in the day does not indicate an unwillingness to talk to Philadelphia to keep them out of the war.

I'll say it again because you've obviously missed it. The only contact we had with Philadelphia was with Corbin's Right Hand Man who said he would keep his city out of the war when we started and then informed us that they would be joining the war when Corbin finally woke up. At no time were any shots or unwarrented deaths mentioned. At no time was there ever the slightest whisper of an attempt to keep the peace from Corbin. This may come as a shock to you but it was crucial to the allied forces to keep the peace. It was crucial to Philadelphia's survival that they keep the peace. The only attempt made was by the Right Hand Man earlier. Perhaps if he were leading instead Philadelphia would still be standing.

Report Post Tip

So what you've just said is... With no evidence whatsoever of those shots or deaths being anything to do with us, that Corbin decided to jump in on New Orlean's bandwagon, a decision that ultimately sent his entire city to the slaughter...? Oh wait, isn't that what I said originally?

Report Post Tip

It's simple enough to say that nobody was really willing, when as I said, a request went out, and not so much as a whisper back after hours, and then two more turn up dead, if that's not a little suspicious to anyone else, then I'm sorry, but if it was your family in that same boat, I'm sure you would have the same suspicions. Regardless, the attempt WAS made to contact families, to TRY and remain neutral, but silence followed by more deaths to a neutral party during a war, just doesn't look good. Now even if Philly did jump the gun a little bit and it was a misunderstood incident, ok, I can go with that, but it was NOT by any means Corbin's choice to "jump on the bandwagon" as you say...first off, if they were jumping on a bandwagon, wouldn't that mean they were on the winning side?...anyways, HE did not send anyone to slaughter, as a family, everyone awake agreed to make this move, I'm sure I said this before...It may have been Corbin's banner, and his name, but it was a decision as a whole to go fight at N.O.'s side. Not a single member that was awake will tell you they were unwilling to join the fight to help their friends and try to keep their city.

So yes, that might be what you said originally, but "Oh wait"...that was incorrect, as I already stated.

Report Post Tip

"Oh apologies, it seems I misspoke. I forgot everybody says everything perfectly on the first time of asking. Sue me. In actual fact Marine, I think it is YOU that is missing something. You say that your first hand account is so accurate because of the position you were in. I'd actually say the accounts of multiple people that were big parts in leading the hitters of the allied forces rips your credible account to shreds. Surely five accounts of people who were the Crew Leaders, and Hands of those ordering and assigning shots is more credible than one man 'standing next to Corbin', and again we are back to Marston's facts apparently being 'inaccurate'. They are only inaccurate because of what side of the war your bloodline fell on. Put your feelings to one side and take off the piss coloured glasses. Start seeing the facts."

Report Post Tip

Regardless, the attempt WAS made to contact families, to TRY and remain neutral, but silence followed by more deaths to a neutral party during a war, just doesn't look good.

Now your just bold face lying. I've no time for your dishonesty. The only contact made in an attempt to keep Philadelphia neutral was initiated by the allied forces to Rizzle_Kicks after the first wave of the war. Sorry but a witness statement request hours before the war started does not count as an attempt to stay neutral by Philadelphia no matter how you try to poorly spin it.

I'm glad to hear the awake lambs were all willing to become lamb chops but it doesn't make the shepherd any less responsible for leading them to the slaughter. I wonder if those sleeping with the trust in their upper structure to keep them alive felt the same way.

Report Post Tip

I'll resist the temptation to involve my self in the argument currently taking place.

Instead, I wish to applaud Marston for taking the time to relate to the people of this place how things went down.  A friend at the police Dept provided me with a list of those killed in the opening stages of the war - with military precision, many heavy hitters were shot before they were able to get to their guns.  A masterful (Marstonful?!) piece of planning.

And respect to our foes, who fought bravely, well and hard.  RIP.
