Thief! Thief! Thief! Started by: Skorpeon on Apr 17, '12 21:22

The thought was being caught off guard with your cash pouch snagged straight off your waist. As it seems to be a small amount of cash stolen to some, it means hard worked money gone to others. You turn quick to spot the thief or sometimes seems as a ghost just passed.

If only they returned the money they just took off your waist there wouldn't be a need to chase them down and give them a beating taking extra money off their hands. They feel a harsh effects from the beaten and a bit wounded not to be able to take flights and attempt on another soul till they are fully healed.

Why would such a crook wonder each city trying to make a living off other criminals? It seems they must get a small pleasure as they kept going after they take a beaten from different criminals.

A Pickpocket apprentices or a master specialist given the opportunity to reach into one's pockets. Would it be an easy task to be taken and given the dedication for such a small goal to be achieved into a long term career? Once this career would be started it was made into a sickness to continue on from small ranked criminals into high ranked criminals.

As many of you experience through one side or the other side I would like a feedback on the thoughts here is a couple of ideas?

Why do you pick pocket?
What do you overall gain from pick pockets?
Why do you chase down thieves that have entered your pockets?
What do you feel about getting your pockets abused?

This meeting isn't to bring out problems but a understanding from both sides how the terms of pick pocketing.

Skorpeon i very much appreciate your approach for this topic, thank you.

Why do you pick pockets? - To improve my technique; quick, skilled hands come in handy in this thing of ours.
What do you overall gain from pick pockets? - I lose more money than i gain. I return all money and say they dropped it somewhere.
What do you feel about getting your pockets abused? - It feels funny.

Beating down thieves is not my thing, that seems rather barbaric. If someone is causing too much trouble i will request him to be wacked.

Why do you pick pocket?

Why not? I like to be the best at everything I do, the only way to get better is to practice more. So I tend to Pick as many pockets as I can while i'm awake. Stealing is an art form to me, I like to perfect that art form.

What do you overall gain from pick pockets?

I guess a lot of people might answer money for that question.. Not me though, I sneakily stick the money back into another pocket if I manage to retrieve any at all, generally I leave a little note to say i've been in your pocket too which has led me to interact with many criminals I might otherwise not have; so to answer your question directly - Friends. In this life, it never hurts to have contacts in every city you travel to.

Why do you chase down thieves that have entered your pockets?

I only beat people if they don't show the courtesy of alerting me after the fact. If they drop off my cash, or leave a note at least, then I let them run along and get on with their day.

What do you feel about getting your pockets abused?

Abused? Really? Bit of a strong word there sir. As I said before though, I could care less about someone being able to rob my cash, provided I know who did it so I can return the favour some day. If they don't show any respect then oh well, it simply says more about them than it does me.

Lets all be honest, though. Why should EVERYONE show respect to everyone else?

The real question id love to hear a decent answer to is; Why do you have a problem with your pockets being Picked? (Thats directed at those that dislike PickPocketing, not Skorpeon himself)

Why do you pick pocket?

I pickpocket for the rush and for the fun. It gives me something to do when I'm waiting to rob another post office, or to commit a felony. It gives me a little more experience in this world, quickens my hands, helps me to be less noticeable, makes me blend in. Success is a rush of it's own.

What do you overall gain from pick pockets?

Really, just the thrill of it. A little rush, a chance to maybe wind a friend up and then send the money back, sometimes for bragging rights - it's not a huge gain, but it's a gain all the same.

Why do you chase down thieves that have entered your pockets?

I personally don't. I feel that chasing a thief down is a very strong reaction to something small and insignificant. The only times I have mugged have been accidents, occasions where I have chosen to pickpocket someone back too quickly. My personal opinion of chasing down and mugging pickpockets is that it's like using an atomic bomb to kill a fly. Each to their own, but it seems a little petty.

What do you feel about getting your pockets abused?

I'm cool with it - I pickpocket, so why on earth should I expect my pockets to be left alone? To expect that would be entirely hypocritical. The only time where I'm unhappy about my pockets being rifled through is when the pickpocket claims to be pickpocket unfriendly.

Nephthys had been hanging around to hear Skorpeon's speech. She was more curious about it then her next drug run. Waiting for her crewleader to finish she approached him with her answers to his questions.

Why do you pick pocket?
Well Sir as your quite aware I do not enjoy being pickpocketed so I do not in any way pickpocket anyone else.

What do you overall gain from pick pockets?
Given my previous statement I do not gain anything from an activity I do not partake in.

Why do you chase down thieves that have entered your pockets?
If I see them enter my pockets it would be silly not to beat them down. They have directly disregarded my personal wishes and if thats the way they get their payback then I'm all for it.

What do you feel about getting your pockets abused?
It depends on how you mean this question. If you mean it to be that I've been mugged well then I don't get mugged so it does not affect me.

Hearing someone else speaking she asks Skorpeon who it is. Learning the name Slash she turns her attention to the question that caught her attention in the first place.

Why do you have a problem with your pockets being Picked?

Fair enough question sir. In reply and from my ancestors journals I will try my best to relate why being pickpocketed bothers me personally. Now for many it's viewed as a sport, nothing more than 5k to be lost and won (granted if your mugged you could lose a lot more than that). For others, such as myself I like to keep my hard earned money. 5k may not seem a lot to many people but the fact is, I made that money so I should have a choice as to how its spent. You can argue all day long that money should be banked, and for me it mostly is except the odd occassion here and there. Also, its a respect thing, I don't go around slipping my hands into every tom, dick and harry's pocket so why should they do it to me? Yes I may be low ranked but shouldn't I be left alone to make money for my crewleader? To keep the money I am saving up for a tribute?

There is the other argument I've seen. People that say they are not pickpocket friendly and go around pickpocketing others. Clearly those people have double standards and should be harassed whenever its convenient. However, if a person actually abides by their not pickpocket friendly and does in fact stay out of people's pockets then I think they should have the right to be left alone. Their pockets shouldn't be harassed every time they turn around.

Nephthys shrugs slightly.

That is my opinion of course.

The thrill of the chase, and the pure enjoyment of stealing from an unexpecting soul. They're the highlights of my day. Even better when the hollow threats are thrown my way!

I pick pocket to earn that acheivement but I send the money right back. :)

Yeah I do the same as Cage-X. :D

Why do you pick pocket?

I'm a mobster that comes from a long line of thieves. I enjoy the thrill of it all.. Getting caught, possibly being mugged back
and I pull in a good bit of pocket change. It would be crazy not to take advantage of an easy skill.

What do you overall gain from pick pockets?

I gain skill and I gain money. Two major things for getting ahead in our world.

Why do you chase down thieves that have entered your pockets?

I don't always.. guess it really depends on my mood... but why wouldn't I? I wouldn't expect somebody to freely let me get
away with their cash, why would I let it happen to me?

What do you feel about getting your pockets abused?

I really don't care if it happens. That's part of the life we live.. and I'm sure I can find something far more important to bitch about than having somebody taking my change. As for the respect aspect, I think there is a bit of honor among thieves here.. I do take a second look when I see some no name gangster try to take my cash, and in most cases they get mugged. Shrugs.. As a Capo though, I have no qualms on rummaging the pockets of those of less rank than my own.. but you'll never see me reaching into the pockets of my superiors without prior consent.

Honey stood on a near by crate to listens in on Skorpeon's speech as he finish she walked up to give her input on the subject.

I personally don't think there is anything wrong with pick pocketing and it's a good way to gain exp. and a small bit of cash.
I don't think we should have our timers effect by a simple small method,
We don't steal so much from the victim which is easily gained back.

I don't understand why all doesn't attempt it or join it, This is a feature we all are able to do. So why not?

Report Post Tip

I don't mean disrespect here, so apologies in advance if I offend. I am nobody important, and I surely don't know ALL the goings on in this world of ours, but visiting the streets and seeing rash of anti-pickpocketing conversations being held, I find myself asking a question...

Is there a rash of pickpocketing and ranting about pickpocketing going on that the majority of us are unaware of? I dislike being pickpocketed, but for the most part - even in pickpocket friendly cities - I find that most people respect my views on not wanting to be pickpocketed and so leave me alone. I've asked friends, and they've found the same thing. So, is there a group of pickpocket vigilantes running around causing havoc among the populace?

Or are we, perhaps, overblowing this entire situation, because it's an easy thing to make speeches about while not actually making a speech at all?

Something to ponder, I think.

Hearing the speach El_Lobo  start thinking ... after all it was food for thought . He knows he is a new guy in the streets but he has some experience !!!!!

Why do you pick pocket?

Entering this crazy world , i understand  that  the code of justice is differnet than the one i used to be awer of but , knowing this tradition , cause as i see it,  it is a tradition between the mafiosi to pickpocket  i tried to make sure that if i pick pocket or i ve been  pickpocketed the money should be returned . This is moral

What do you overall gain from pick pockets?

Keeping in mind that i have to give back and receive  the amounts of money , the only think i gain is to know new people in the streets and respect them .

Why do you chase down thieves that have entered your pockets?

They dont respect my will or my self .

What do you feel about getting your pockets abused?

It is easy to pickpocket and forget that the guy who looses his money is a hard working one  . It s a matter of justice and respect . Pick pockets but be a man and return the money back . If you want me to treat you as a man .

He take of his hat , hold it to his hand and quietly smiles ......

Why do you pickpocket?

The xp and the achievement. The little bit of rush you get wondering what you might get out of it even if you do give back. Also the risk of being mugged back.

What do you overall gain from pickpockets?

Again the xp and achievements plus the excitement.

Why do you chase down thieves who have entered your pockets?

Little bit of fun revenge even if you do give it back. Just a way to say "Aha! Caught you!"

What do you feel about getting your pockets abused?

All is fair in love and war. Its nice to get it back in a gesture of good faith but if you don't, thats the risk you take.

Cory had heard the commotion and thought it was an interesting subject so her stepped forward to give his opinion on the topic.

"I think saying someone being shot over a pickpocket isn't right. Yes it is all about respect and having those met, but it isn't like they have fired their gun at you or at one of those that are protecting you. When you exchange gunfire that takes thing to a whole other level, which will escalate quickly. A pickpocket is about the money, and it isn't much but 5,000 dollars. If you do it to someone and they catch you and catch up with you then that is your loss. You know that is the consequence for what you are doing and you could end up regretting it in the first place. I think that is enough to make someone regret doing it to you and will most likey not go through them again. However respecting the person is always the number one way to go. If they don't live to the rules of the city then I would fine them and make sure they don't make that mistake again, if they do then a demote might make them think differently hopefully. If they do it again by that time they just aren't listening and need to be killed. Anyone who can't obey the rules isn't a very good listener and especially if they have been punished for it in the past.

So to cover on it, I don't think it is the worse thing in the world. Maybe if they could take a lot more then 5k from you then it would be something to look into. If someone is working hard however then that should be pocket change to them. I don't mind being pickpocketed. It makes me smile when someone tries it on me, and hell I might end up having a conversation with that person and meeting someone new that I haven't. I respect others wishes when I do pickpocket them and won't it they don't prefer it and state it. Those I do sneak my hands into, I give them back what I took plus some more as a thank you. Seems the most appropriate in my opinion. "

Armageddon came to a sudden halt after counting the wad of cash he just made off with from someone else listening to Skorps speech, knowing that his victim had no idea of what just happened soon they will realize they are $5000 short.

Why do people PP?

I am sure everyone has their reasons and just to name a few off, XP, and experience. Lets face it nobody is getting rich off of PP so it's not for the money. Also, PP can help you with a special set of "skills" which I am sure is the biggest reason people continue to be in and out of each others pockets.

Why do you chase down theives who entered your pockets?

This is an easy one really, because I am an asshole. Sure its fine and dandy when I pick your pocket but dont let me catch you because I will mug your ass back and keep the lot. Others may do it out of vendetta. I know when I PP somebody I am running the risk of being mugged back, everyone who does PP religiously should know that as well.

What do you feel about getting your pockets abused?

Eh, I keep my money banked for the most part. So if someone does find their way in my pocket they usually come up empty handed. But even if I didnt I wouldn't have a problem with it. $5000 to me isnt a whole much.

I just wanted give my opinion on a few things as to Slashs question. Too be perfectly honest I dont think its the $5000 people hate losing when they get PP'd, its the feeling of knowing someone has been in your pockets without your permission. Its disrespect to some, and dont get me wrong I can see their side of things on that. But if someone was to come out here saying they dont like losing their money to PP then I would say to them bank your money and quit crying. If you cant afford to lose 5k, you're broke.

Armageddon makes his way to the nearest bar.
