Jail if caught PP'ing a CA Started by: Frank-Big-Feet on Jul 11, '12 06:07

I have a suggestion that if you PP a CA and he see you, you get 5 min jail time

In real life you get a punishment if you get busted doing something criminal and if a officer see you grabing his pocket you are busted

What do you all think of this ?

Report Post Tip

yeah, that would make perfect sence to me.

Also shouldn't the warden arrest you when someone sells a witness statement?

Report Post Tip

This seems logical to me.

If you try to pickpocket someone who is an "Officer", then there should be some sort of repercussions for doing so.

I'd suggest a 10 minutes jail sentence, rather than 5. Just to maintain the uniformity of the sentences more than anything else.

Still, good suggestion. Interested to hear any further thoughts on it and potential pitfalls.

I approve of this suggestion. You want to steal from an officer, you run the risk of jail time. The risk vs reward makes this a suggestion that should be put forward and coded into the game.

Report Post Tip

If thats the case, Maybe The CA's would have more cash on them then at most a couple of K, Thats what normal cops earn, Their corrupt because they have cash right?

Report Post Tip

Forgot to mention this previously. If we're going to add the risk of being thrown in jail for PPing an officer, Id suggest increasing the difficulty of PPing them slightly

Report Post Tip

I like the jail time idea, But what if you could be mugged back by them whereas they take say a maximum of 10k from you or something. Something to give them some cash to make it worth while to pp them?

Report Post Tip

I like this idea but seeing as PPing skills have been skewed I think 5 minutes is a more appropriate jail time and as for "keeping it standard" we all ready have 10, 15 & 20 min jail times so I don't see 5 being a problem.

The other issue is Officers are basically pure info with 0 stealth, this means unless you are on stealth answers you will be seen pickpocketing so I think their vision stats will have to be dropped to make this viable or no one but stealth people will be pickpocketing them and no one will be able to train PP skill high enough since the PP stat changes.

Report Post Tip

I'd be quite happy to see this implemented, with the 5 min sentence... as they are corrupt anyway. We could always snitch on them in prison, so 5 min seems appropriate.

Report Post Tip

Yep - seems like a good idea to me. It just adds more depth to PP'ing and Officers, and makes the features a little more realistic.

Report Post Tip

This does certainly make a lot of sense though as Grin says it should be a 10 min sentence and not a 5 min one.

Report Post Tip

In the 20's if you tried to pick pocket a cop and he caught you, wouldn't he just beat your ass?

Report Post Tip

I support this idea!

Report Post Tip

Realistically there needs to be some form of punishment for PPing officers, currently it is just an easy way for one to train their PP skills with no drawbacks, but everything in life has risks right?

The idea of sending the PPer to jail is as good as any other, I don't think the time in jail is really important as long as it makes the person think twice. You don't want it to be so long people choose against PPing but at the same time it can't be so short that it has no affect on the potential PPers mind. So I reckon 5mins is ample time for this to be implemented.

However, as enkindle pointed out, dirty cops of this era would give the person a beating, but again that would depend on the person's reputation. If the person is a boss or higher he'd rather get the person locked up where there may be some anonymity in his actions. At a lower rank they would be likely to give the person a beating. What would the beating do, would it affect flight time or take extra money back?

If it does that, knowing that some people can be hot headed and decide to shoot back, the officers personals would have to stay after death so the killer can be tracked down.

Report Post Tip

I do believe that pickpockets in general need an element of randomness. No matter how good your skill is, you should still have a possibility of failing, after all, when going after people to pick their pockets, things wouldn't always go as nicely as you were planing, even if you are really good at it.

And if we think of Officers, then surely the chances of getting caught should be even higher then a regular mobster.

I'm not exactly sure yet what would be the best punishment for it, be jail, a beating, even mugging may come in play on rare occasions. I will need to give it a bit more thought, however, I think the idea touches a point that is currently missing in the game and it has potential to be developed, there so I will be sponsoring it.

One issue with PPing CAs sending people to jail is that there are so many people with no PP skill who could PP a CA and go to jail on purpose to feed friends jail breaks. There would need to be more risk involved.

I'm thinking--and I'm just throwing this out there, I pulled the numbers and such out of thin air--theres a roll for how angry the officer is, really angry, he beats you down, takes some cash off you plus a little more, you get say 10 minutes added to your travel timer, PP timer, whatever. Somewhat angry he roughs you up, takes the money back, throws your ass in jail for 10 minutes, not very angry he just takes his money back. This is all only if you get caught.

I think the risk to PPing a CA ought to be just enough to make most people consider finding a PP friendly real player to attack.

Report Post Tip

I like your thinking there, enkindle.

Anything that increases the chance of people finding real players to PP as opposed to picking on the CAs is a bonus.

Report Post Tip

I believe this makes quite a bit of sense. 10 minutes for jail if seen, but CA's have maybe some extra cash. Good suggestion. Win-Win for the game and users.
