Bigger HQs Started by: DeadlySin on Jul 30, '12 23:55

I believe the 75 man HQ's for right now is a good idea.

Temp auths are fine and dandy, but at the same time we have a group of people running around popping shots. Why auth someone temporarily who will just get shot in the face and then have to worry about finding those members a new leader? Rinse and repeat.

Unless you can promise me that some punk isn't going to just pop a shot at a CL we auth (that isn't protected like most auths are these days), then I believe this is the key to fixing things for now until we can provide protection for such leaders so that they won't die to some person thinking it's funny to shoot them.

Also, even IF another leader went to another city, they won't be ready to set up an auth right away anyways. Do you really feel it is wrong for a leader to try and look out for someone they set up, so that those members that join won't have to go through a huge mess of having to find a home if their leader dies. I know 1%'s happen and things go wrong, but currently at this moment in time...no unprotected person is safe with people running around shooting at sponsored members.

The safest thing for any member right now is 75man HQ's. You may feel differently, but that is fine. You're entitled to your own opinion and this just happens to be mine.

Nonsense. The HQ boost on a temporary HQ alone would be enough to prevent a random wacker who's 50/50 on shooting an earner from taking out even a MM CL without any protection. It would take several weeks if not a month more to train the gun capable of that. And of course, by then the other people you are supposedly waiting on would be ready to take over anyway. Not to mention there are several choices currently available who do have an "insane" amount of protection.

Though all of this I guess is moot now.

No. Sorry, but i cannot for any reason like this idea. I know it has been implemented, and that pisses me off to no end. This change does nothing but pander to Crew leaders and Godfathers who are not willing to play the damn game the way it was designed. You fill your crew, You auth someone you trust. If you want to implement a rule that caps the crews per city, and your crews and crew limit is full, You auth someone to a new city. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCE should the rules of this game be change to suit a crew leader's wish to hold onto power. This game should be a cycle, and the way to hold onto power is not the get the rules changed. This is the start, and it MUST be the finish. There absolutely MUST be new auths and the city heads must auth new Crew leaders. End of story.

I think the idea of bigger HQ's is OK later on when the world is full and stable again.

We can auth people (although not financially great of course to auth people without bgs to buy them slowly at a high rank, or have them step down with others rank up who have bgs) but it can be done and should have before coding changes

Report Post Tip

There have been times like this before when there was less money in the game after big wars and not a lot of high rankers but the leaders managed, they authed people with 25 man HQ's, they authed people that weren't Insanely Well Protected & life carried on without the need for increased HQ sizes. You say it's a waste of money, others call it rebuilding.

PC-Flash-fire

In those days it was considerably harder to develop a weapon than it is now. Someone posted in a thread about how easy it is for someone to develop a gun at wise guy that will hit a made man CL. You know as well as I do how feasible that is, maybe it is a case of taking a look at wack and def and looking at these and the correlation of them.

But then far too many of the player base know far too much about the code as is. I don't blame anyone but it takes away a bit of the mystique of the game when you know if you get to XXX kills you can hit someone with xxx BGs.

Us none old timers remember the fun of the start of the reset, of the auth of Paddy in the city of the tyrant JohnnyAxe and how his faithful hitter thought he was a guaranteed hit on Paddy only to miss!!!

Report Post Tip

Well this is completelly unecessary. This does not need to be solved by code when players have all the keys necessary to solve the issue.

In my view, to say that an IWP high ranked member is unwilling to setup temporarily to house members for a few days until CL's can bg up someone and auth is absurde. If I was a leader and the member I had bged up and promoted was unwilling to help out for a few days, I would see that as the problem, not the code.

Report Post Tip

Yes but there are numerous people who do have the bodyguard protection to prevent the majority of people being able to kill them.

Sitewide BG Effective Count: 2400
Average Effective BG per user: 5

Now you and I both know the majority of people do not have BG's and the BG limit is 200 or less. The reason you an train a bigger gun these days is because of the insane amount bodyguards in the game.

Also both JackPepper & ParanoidFreak setup with the current climate of kills at only protected & both lived long enough to get IWP, if the leaders are worried that the people they want to auth will be targeted and killed maybe they need to look authing other people.

*coughs*

Hey, Mr Admin.

Why not just limit the amount of crews per city so the game doesn't allow more than 2/3/4 per city until EVERY other city has at least 1 in it.

Report Post Tip

Countdown that is already under discussion in another suggestion by Squishy.
