Prestegious Bloodlines? Started by: Wisdom on Aug 03, '12 11:24

After walking the streets and hearing opinons being spoke openly. Isaac desides to comment on his own family journals.

My bloodline has been Right and Left plenty of times from the lost land of St Louis to Detroit and even upper held in Chicago. But only one of my fore fathers was Crew Leader. I'd love to have a crack at it as my great great great great great wait another great, grandfather Clyde had. But only time will tell. What can a little wise guy do. Just a hope a prayer.

As Isaac smiles and listen to the others talk.

Does everyone get authed because of their bloodline? No not everyone. However it is foolish to think nobody does I have heard it before if so and so comes back with the. They will get a crew. It happens saying it doesn't is just ignorant. But like I said not everyone does .and most earn it. Some can build from nothing to something.DeadlySin showed that in Vegas a mere made man once with little protection. Now look he earned it and everything he has.

Oh yes and. Objection!

Those who are saying that one's bloodline does not weigh heavily on whether someone is authed is either lying or naive. I would never go so far as to say that is the only reason for someone to go bold. Some people go bold purely due to their coffee shop relationships, and rare few go bold solely from the efforts they put into the lifestyle.

I have NEVER seen someone go bold simply based off their bloodline's history; however, in my years here I have seen it play a major role in the authing of a number of people. Of the current crop of leaders, many of their blooline's history has been bold or slantied. It is rare for a new bloodline to go bold even if they have made a great effort to impress the boss as there is no history to gauge them from. Some may say they haven't had a chance to gain the required leadership skills to go bold, but I put it to you, how would they ever get these skills if they never get the chance?

Willoam approaches the soapbox he quietly had placed onto the street while waiting for the conversation to slow and climbs upon it. He looks out amongst his peers and rings a large cowbell

AHEM,

Ladies, gentlemen, MikeHunt,

I shall first address this situation with this, bloodlines mean more than anyone could possibly imagine. With a prestigious bloodline you know what to expect, you know what level of intelligence and work ethic one brings, as well as what one is capable of overall.

This however should not be reason alone to hand someone the keys to an HQ and let them loose. However I do think if this person works hard for you and brought to you what is expected and the time comes that they have grown to where you'd expect them to be then you make the choice to allow them to work beside you opposed to under you as for your cities sake you only want the best.

However I also see it as any mafioso who works hard, earns their stripes and gives you and the city all should be given the same right and not be over looked. The only difference is with someone still cutting their teeth in this world who's family name has not stood for anything what is the level of expectations? What will they be capable of?

In fact even prestigious bloodlines at one time were mere new comers to this land who were given an opportunity and a chance. I do not believe we should deny anyone else of that same opportunity, though I do believe that prestigious bloodlines will always be looked to first I suppose it's no different than a king or queen coming from a royal bloodline, though I have yet to see a problem with only those with rich history with their family name going places, I guess some just have different points of views.

Willoam climbs down from his soapbox more confused than before lights up a cigarette and walks away to hide behind a garbage can nearby

Bruiser takes a moment from beating the shit out of a dealer in an alley behind bakery to hear what the commotion was about.  Having kin in this line of work for ages he figured he'd chime in in two cents.  "HEY!  WHAT THE FUCK!   OUCH!"  can be heard as Bruiser, not so gently pushes his way towards the center of the massive mob so he could be heard.

I've listened to everyone and I just wanted to comment on what Tony said, Bruiser pulls a handkerchief and gently coughs before quoting his little buddy.  "I have NEVER seen someone go bold simply based off their bloodline's history; however, in my years here I have seen it play a major role in the authing of a number of people. Of the current crop of leaders, many of their blooline's history has been bold or slantied. It is rare for a new bloodline to go bold even if they have made a great effort to impress the boss as there is no history to gauge them from. Some may say they haven't had a chance to gain the required leadership skills to go bold, but I put it to you, how would they ever get these skills if they never get the chance?"  Bruiser quickly shoves his hand in his pocket as if he's not already been found out to be reading from them.

I'll first weigh in on the rights and left hands who's bloodline gets chosen frequently or the deal with their lower rank, and I'm only speaking from personal journals of my fathers and forefathers, they always choice men and women they felt at the time would make absolutely the right call when it absolutely had to be done immediately.  If my great great grand pappy had someone in his crew fuck up, and godfather Roman's men or worse Roman himself, came calling, something had to be done right then or more lives could have been in jeopardy, depending on the situation of course, how bad my guy fucked up.    Bruiser realizing he's going on another tangent all together here figures he better get back on point, he's got shit to do, people to kill, see.

Anyways, you're always gonna have leaders select hands and new crew leaders alike that they can absolutely trust to make the right calls, do good work, and not get them all killed. (which most times mean they've been there and done that)  Back in the day, a Burger King owner, who also by night was the godfather of Chicago, Iota gave my surname his first shot at running his own crew.  My father didn't know godfather Iota from Adam, he just got in there and worked his ass off, donated a shit ton of money, did what was asked no question and he got his shot.  Iota took a chance on him and he did an awesome job, til he was shot in his sleep in a war, but that's another story.  So brand new bloodline might not get their chances often but it can happen.  There are and can be some shining stars out there.  Sorry folks I know I'm rambling on, late night at Cory's celebration last night, but I'll close, with this.

All of this circles to my thoughts on OOC avenue, I'd like to see the day, we limit our headquarters to 25 max and divide our cities to more crews.  This way more newer, and old bloodlines get their shot to show what they got.  This could be beneficial in a number of ways, we are operating out of smaller buildings, which could draw less attention from the coppers, and we could spread out more to the open cities, just to name a couple.   I don't know about you guys but I missing heading to Saint Louis every now and again for a cards game!  Bruiser pulls out a cigar and lights it,   But I've taken enough time and that discussion is for another day.  Have a good one guys.   Bruiser turns around and starts pushing is way back towards to bakery to finish what he started.

Gene had been listening for a bit while nursing his beer. This was a topic he had often thought about, himself.

If a bloodline has established merit in the community and has a family willing to take their child as 'made' immediately, then why not, if it would clearly benefit the organization? But should the latest progeny decide it would like to make its own way, instead of riding the coattails of their parents, than I would call that honorable.

But, after watching Wisdom and TyrionLannister bicker over yet another morsel of legitimacy, what he said was, "Now, why don' you two stop tryin' to fool ever'one an' juss screw already? Get it over with."

Report Post Tip

The point is that chances AREN'T taken on new bloodlines, in general, whereas SOME bloodlines are, rightly, assumed to contain those that will get the job done.

No?

Report Post Tip

Wisdom it might not happen as often as you would like to see but new people do get their chances around here.   Each crew leader out here had to get a chance from someone for the first time.  My great, great, great, great, etc. grandpappy was never a crew leader until his godfather gave him a chance.  My grandpappy hadn't been in these shores but a few months, but it was enough time to prove himself and get himself what he had always wanted.  The chance to run his own crime organization.   So YES Wisdom it does happen!  Sometimes!

Report Post Tip

I do not think it is fair to say that new bloodlines are "never" given a chance. If that were true, we wouldn't have any crew leaders today. Many times chances have been taken on new bloodlines and they have had great success. Some have also brought great failure and discourse throughout the cities. It is always a gamble when someone puts on a bold suit, much less for the first time in their history.

With the game in the state that it is, I can see why the city heads are not willing to gamble on authing a new bloodline. Let some experienced CL's take hold and set an example. The game was just recently devastated. Getting off on the right foot with the right people is key here.

I believe a quote from the famous FlyingPig does justice here:

"It is safer to choose a known bloodline than to reach into the cesspool of unknown genes laying about."

Got to agree with WildTurkey..
Everyone that's ever been authed has had someone take a chance on them..
Sometimes it's a good thing to let new blood have a go to show to everyone else that it does still happen, but as WildTurkey said, in times like this, it may be better to have someone with experience take the crews so there are no gambles, everyone knows where they stand and who with..

It takes a lot of time and effort to gain enough trust and respect to be given your own crew. So should't the people that have taken that time and effort be easier and maybe better to auth rather than setting someone new up and not knowing what they're going to do in the future.?

I am not one to name names but I have seen good and bad leaders in my short time here. To answer your other question I believe that if a person earned a suit once that they learned a certain level of expertise here in this things of ours, though that is not always the case. So yes does that person deserve to be suited again, of course, so long as that same hard work and dedication go into that new suit. Which you find time and time again with people who have had multiple suited accounts. But then you also see people working their way and they end up with their pretty new suit and do they deserve it! Hell yes they do. So as long as any person put in the amount of time and effort to be a true part of this thing of ours then you deserve to wear your suit proudly.

thank you.

Report Post Tip

I'd have to agree with what Jane has said. Anyone who hasn't been a cl before can accomplish becoming one. With good hard work, time and of course money to reach their height in this thing of ours. Besides the ones having gone bold time and time again, proves that they know the job very well and know how to handle the most devastating times in this thing of ours when they occur. So I say to the ones wanting to become a Leader in the future. You need to work hard prove yourself to others you can handle what your jumping into and dedicate a great amount of time in this thing of ours to be considered. Because no one likes a leader who isn't active nor not knowing a clue on hows this world works. I'm sure a like any other you must climb the latter throughout ranks first, meaning landing a hand position and doing it well to ever consider becoming a leader. That's my thought.

Of course Im going to have to answer to this, forget the persons past *wink wink* , and welcome in open arms their newly changed image. Some people can change through time, I mean look at me, I use to be banned over and over from these fine cities. Newer bosses would be a delight however, who knows, we may very well stumble upon another King_Cav *cough cough*
