This thread is completely out of character. I realise it is placed in the Streets, but anyone can quickly identify that this is discussing something that is not meant to be in character and therefore is OOC, just in the wrong place. It seems quite a stretch to then kill someone over what is a pretty innocuous comment when the characters are removed from the equation.

While I see your point, Dondar, if this is OOC, then the threat was real? As in, suggesting to kill the player behind the keyboard? Of course not, I would think, so his threat has to have been in character.

Furthermore, when you see that a powerful man like SammyGarcini takes offense to what you say, you could at least come yourself and say you didn't mean to offend anybody and that you apologize for upsetting anybody.

Killed because the street watchers didn't move this to its correct place...

WWW didn't help his case by not clearly pointing out he meant this as a joke, but with all the OOC comments this should be over there which may have saved WWW's life. I can't blame Sammy's reaction, some guy from another city stood there and openly threatened to kill a member of his city in the streets.

This could all have been avoided if people engaged their brains before speaking, or in the forum watchers case... just engaged their brains.

I dont see WWW actually saying he was going to kill anyone. I'm very disappointed with the actions taken on an all sides to be honest. WWW was clearly joking, though the joke could easily be considered inappropriate and Sammy obviously felt it was enough to kill a leader that's involved in an experiment. Personally, I think some common sense should have prevailed and WWW should at most be asked to explain his comment and apologise for any offence that was caused to those involved.

The whole debacle is just very disappointing.

Even if this was over in OOC avenue or in suggestions where it truly belongs a threat is still a threat. It's the sort of joke you can only make if you know the person well enough that they will take it as it is meant.

Are you unaware of the fact that "how about" is a question, not a statement.

I'm not saying WWW wasn't wrong, Its simply my opinion that removing a leader from an experiment for such a minor issue is beyond laughable.

Whats the point in the experiment if these people aren't going to be given the opportunity to make errors and see the error of their ways without simply being dropped by someone that takes offence.

Tyrion, let's not argue the way it is worded. It is a threat whether it's a question or a statement, you just DON'T say that shit unless it's to one of your very close friends (who might take offense to it if they're playing their character right).

So your saying that Detroit leaders shouldn't be as accountable for their actions as every other leader? They know the risks when they buy their head quarters, and shouldn't do so lightly. This just goes to show not everyone is ready for leadership even though they think they are.

Again, at no point did I state what WWW did was a good idea. I think we both know that someone in my shoes isn't going to be so loose with the tongue to people that can easily wipe me off the planet.

But to pretend that this was anything other than a small joke gone wrong, is pathetic. Everyone knows this was a joke. My annoyance is mostly based on the fact its a fucking experimental position, he wasn't "Authed" by anyone, he should have been afforded some manner of guidance, a chance to apologise for the fact people didn't take his joke very well.

Anyway, i'm done talking about it. He's dead now so there isn't any point in beating around the bush as to whether this was the right course of action or not, as the action has been taken and can't be undone.

Countdown, I liked your comments about the fact that you don't make jokes like that unless you know the person on the other end of the joke. I was just thinking about that when I heard you say it.

However, it sounds a little insulting to say that Forum Watchers should have just engaged their brains.

Like it was said before, worse, much worse than this has been let slide in these streets. Sure it means the lowering of certain standards for years now, but people should know to measure what they say regardless of what forum things are discussed in.

WWW's life should not have been saved by removing what he said. His life should have been saved either by wording his jokes more properly, or by apologizing after realizing his joke fell flat.

WWW condemning comment was made within two minutes of the original speech. Moving it to OOC wouldn't have changed much in my opinion.

As far as the reasons why it isn't moved... I could only talk about the reasons of one of the forum watchers so that wouldn't be here nor there.

I have been curious myself why some things get moved and some others don't. Perhaps if we all agreed to raise the standards of the streets again, things like this would happen much less frequently.

I wouldn't expect to say what WWW said to another city and get away with it. I sure as hell wouldn't let another city say it about my members and let them get away with it.

Being in the experiment makes absolutely no difference to what is expected of you. He knew the risks, as people have said. He bought the HQ, and made himself viewable in the same light as every other crew leader.

Nobody should be making those kinds of comments, even relatively new people don't do it. Yet, a crew leader? Yeah, sure, let's let it slide shall we!? Erm, no, let's not.

Let's hope we can expect the same level of in-character response to all OOC issues from now on.
