So would we like it rp based where it's a personal and it's like... Someone walks up and hands you a folder containing your stats... Or something just included in your profile (the one you view, not the one viewable by the public.)

Report Post Tip

I've copied/pasted/paraphrased some of the examples provided, just to clarify the RP aspect:

You're about to leave the boss' office you notice a brown folder with your name on it sitting on his desk. He notices your curiosity and motions for you to take a seat again.

''Background checks, you know the deal'' he says. ''Let's get the measure of you then, son.''

''Seems you got yourself a steady hand and a sharp eye...you could be useful.''

This would be an example of someone who has high attack stats. Or, for strong stealth:

''I hear they call you The Creeper where you come from...we could use someone who knows how to be discreet.''

Any more thoughts and or opinions on this? I like the few examples that were given within the thread that Lola posted for us. Or might anyone else have different wording? I'd like to set this for vote soon.

The idea behind this & what has driven in through to the PC is the fact it is so new players can tell their CL what answers they are on the same as a player who has been around a while. With that in mind I think if this is to be implemented it should you exactly what you have when you start ie your dice roll image or your answers in number sequence.

Report Post Tip

You don't think it would better role played out? I think that would go more along the lines of the game.

Report Post Tip

My opinion is that if you used real answers, you should get a generic number string containing the answers you used.

If you used the dice roll, you get that RP conversation.

Report Post Tip

I don't think the admins would be happy giving out an RP'd note that say's "mostly wack" ect for the old style answers as it gives too much info away {not like you couldn't find the top answers sets if a quick google search.}

Report Post Tip

Alright I will set this for a vote in the next few days then.

Report Post Tip

If someone is truly a new user, they'll probably use the rolling stat version... if they're not using that... then they either know what they're doing or they're clicking randomly. I do not thing any extra edge should be given. Stat rolls give all the information a person needs, new or otherwise.

I'm all for making this game more user friendly to new players, but this seems like it could give too much information to people, not just the new users. If you're too dumb to remember what you rolled then that's your fault. If you're too dumb to remember what answers you used... either you didn't pay attention in the beginning or you just forgot.

The more we reveal stats to players, the worse of a precedent it sets. Imagine if next people wanted to have their guns calculated by the game or the real effectiveness of bgs etc etc. These are all things you learn how to do on your own by dealing with other players... it helps set conversations in motion. Also, I can only imagine the screenshots that some people or CLs might ask for in extreme cases if it's already visually there in the game...

Report Post Tip

We're really not giving out "stat" information. It's only a reminder to what answer set you use. There is no extra edge here. I really don't understand where you get that from. It serves as a reminder only. No extra info. No stat/exp/inside info given. Just something like... Answers: Stealth. Or something rp'd as was suggested.

{Please stop saying "if you're too dumb to remember" or "if you're too stupid". It has nothing to do with those things. People forget things all the time, it really doesn't make them dumb or stupid. I am really getting tired of asking this.}

Report Post Tip

Still see this is a good idea. Not one I think is a priority, but one I do feel does no harm and certainly helps the newer players.

Report Post Tip

I see that most points that I could add have been discussed already, obviously. I tend to disagree with this because if we say we want to add mystery to the game, then let people figure out their strengths on their own.

I do like Lola's suggestion to make it in RP form. So, even though I will be voting NO, I truly hope that if the vote passes, it is not done by naming stats but in RP form.

Report Post Tip

I really don't understand how some of you think this will give anyone any more information than they get using an answer set or a dice roll. Its just a reminder of what they chose.

Report Post Tip

I don't think it will give out more info than when you write down your answers. Actually the dice roll gives out a whole lot of info compared to the answers, unless you have one of the famous "sets". I guess it's a matter of not giving out any info you didn't think to save for yourself. I think it even says in that page that the answers affect your initial stats. Maybe we could just reword that to say that most Crew Leaders will ask you about these answers at one point or another...

Report Post Tip

Visually representing stats no matter how basic is... not good for the game. Screenshot demanding has been common before... because now they can't just ask you... as Adrian suggested.

Also for the stat rolls, how would this even be represented as Answers: Defense ? It would just pick the one with the highest percentage, but it wouldn't be an accurate way to rate things, and certain times they change say if a stat was neck and neck almost.

I really don't like the idea. It's another way of dumbing down the game... yes "dumbing." I know it's being considered because it might help new users, and that whole notion is very important, however, this is something that I don't believe will actually help a new user all that much, and it'll be a problem for even older users because of my aforementioned reasoning.

If it passes, whatever, but if more and more stat reveal suggestions are going to pop up...

Report Post Tip

I'm not trying to change your mind, I'm just saying don't vote because you assume it's something it's not. No one is going to pass a complete stat reveal. This doesn't give anybody any edge over anyone. You're giving your opinions as if they are facts of the suggestion, which they are not. I don't understand how this hurts the game. If I sign up on defense answers and I remember that and I tell my HSL that I am on defense so they know my strength. It doesn't give a new player an advantage over me if they can go to their profile and see that they used defense answer set. No other stats are revealed, no amount of stats are revealed, nothing secretive is shown. So don't base your votes on that.

Back in the day, before this game even existed, there was a set of questions and answer options very similar to these. There was some mystery to them in the beginning, but eventually people began to figure out which answer sets worked... and for a long time everyone who played had these sets. New players would come and they would try to figure it out so that mystery was still there for them

Fast forwarding ten years or so... We added in stat rolling. Stat rolling completely takes out any of that "mystery." A new player can know what they're dealing with, to a certain extent, far more so than if a person was dealing with answer sets.

The paranoia of being worried about screenshots isn't a big deal, but I know for a fact that I was asked once upon a time to take one of my achievements page (to show that I had not done something). This would just add to another visual representation of basic stats. So let's say there was a major war, and only a few people are left at the top... and a bunch of people start coming in to families... and then they drop out to rogue... again and again... this might just be something that they might request to see if someone is using wack answers... I admit that is very paranoid, but still.

I'm not saying it gives new players an advantage over old ones. What I am saying is that the negatives to it outweigh the positives of it to me. With stat roll, I don't see why a player would ever need to have a visual representation of their answer set after startup, simply unless they forgot. The method of not showing what our answers actually are... has been the way it is for a realllly long time. I don't think it has scared new people off really, and statroll totally trumps any of this.
