What Outkast said is what I was getting at earlier. If they banned guns in the US it would cause an uprising and the government would be overthrown. Trust me, they aren't going to ban guns in the US.

I don't see an outright ban happening, but they will ban 'assault type rifles' (even though none of the weapons used were 'assault rifles'). But that doesn't stop anyone who already has one. As far as pistols and hunting rifles/shotguns, I'm not sure any politician in his right mind would attempt a bill banning these.

Now there are those of you who will say, 'But, Kast, a .223 Bushmaster IS a hunting rifle...'  No, no it's not. If you need a semi-auto machine gun to hunt with, you need a new hobby.

A .223 is not a hunting rifle. A Remington 700 .308 could be one, but it could also be a sniper rifle if you have a good optic on it.

Before anyone attends US Army sniper school, you have to take a mental evaluation with an Army psychologist because they know how precise a person behind a Remington 700/M24 can be. Anyone can really join the military and they are all issued an AR platform. I really don't understand the need to outlaw an AR. I believe California has a 10 round mag law and ARs are not allowed to have a mag release but a special mag release which needs a tiny object to eject the magazine.

I am sad about what happened in that school, but guns are definitely not the problem.

California has the horrible button/key release law on AR's, which is pointless and aggravating, especially to gun manufacturers.

Outkast although I agree with you on about everything, alot of us do use .223 for hunting due to size, weight and attachments such as a bipod, verticle grip, foregrip..etc. Not everybody uses it but quite a few of us do. A remington 700 though is top notch and a favorite as well. Nobody uses Bushmaster though :P too cheap.

Forgot to add, my main love for AR's is for taking to the range, very very fun to go all out. Ive owned a semi-automatic rifle since I was 12 and it just never gets old.

Yer USB, I'm not saying that the .223 isn't hunt capable, but most of the hunting you do I assume is large game. Or really big ass deer (in which case, I'll see you in November).

I don't consider that a machine gun though. *shrugs* Under definition I suppose it is, but, whatever.

We go shooting most weekends, the AK is my fav, but I still have my first bolt action .22 with a 5 shot clip that I have a ball with.

This is the reason why I never wanted to have kids. Ironically my son was born right before this happened :P.. Just today on the news another happened shit just happened in China. A teenager hacking kids on their school, fortunately there aren't any casualties.. This are esults of bad parenting, that is my opinion..

Legal ownership is not the problem, the availability of black market weapons is. Something DOES need to be done, but taking guns from law abiding owners is not the answer.

Just notice that Timothy Mcveigh did not kill anyone with a gun but managed to murder 168 people which included 19 children under the age of 6. Crazy people will still murder people regardless of the inability to get their hands on a fire arm. Guns really aren't the problem anymore. People are.

Agreed Michael...If we focus more on the problem and not the tools they use, I feel we'd get a better handle on the situation.

Michael there are things you can legislate for and there are unfortunately things you cant.

Timothy McVeigh blew people up with a bomb try as you can but he planned that massively in advance and things like that you can only hope law enforcement pick up on it.

John Doe who wakes up thinks fuck it, looks over at his mums gun cabinet, thinks life sucks and goes grabs two hand guns, and a semi automatic rifle. Shoots his mum in her bed then heads to a primary school and shoots a mass of 6 and 7 year olds.

Take the guns out of the equation and John Doe can't do what he did.

Sure he can get a knife but I am willing to bet he wouldn't have killed any where near as many people as he did if he had a knife. Now he could have made a bomb, but it takes a fuck ton of effort, time and planning to make a bomb to blew shit up. The more time the more chances that law enforcement can see what he is doing.

If you are referring to the recent shooting at the Elementary School, which I assume you are, they are now finding smashed computers in his residence. I'm definitely not one to believe that he's only just woken up to go do his bidding. I presume he had a bigger plan to shoot more people. I can only assume that he planned this weeks ahead. Why? So that he was successful and indeed he was. Its sad to say this but he nearly achieved his goal in which I believe was to kill more people than the Virginia Tech shooter. People like this always intend to do something, leave a mark. I mean they are set on leaving his Earth, they want to leave something behind.

The ridiculous ease it is for people to obtain weapons, isn't as easy as think. I mean, yes I can go into a store and purchase a hand gun at the age of 21. At the age of 18 I can purchase a rifle. This is of course if you pass the local and the federal background check, which is if you any priors, hard to pass. It is in our own Constitution that we as American citizens have the right to bear arms for the defense of themselves and state.

If you really think guns are the problem, why is it that Chicago which has the most strict gun laws in the country have the highest murder rates in the country by a fire arm? Why ruin my right as a Combat Veteran to arm myself to protect my friends, family, and whomever else that poses a threat? You just can't.

I think I've came off topic a bit but I'm trying to say if you try to make it harder to purchase a weapon LEGALLY, whats to stop someone from obtaining them ILLEGALLY? Why hurt the citizen who is abiding by every law to protect themselves from someone who isn't?
