Yes, I realize that the leaders of our cities have made a statement, and their word is law. Ninety-nine point nine percent of the time I would support whatever it is they decreed, no matter what that decree was. However, this time I feel the decision is repugnant to our way of life and that it wasn't so much a bad decision on their part, as it was an oversight that they only viewed the positive aspects and not the negative. With that, I thought as a RHM, I might have some influence in bringing this to their attention. At the end of the day, they will decide what we do, and I will live with it. So there is my disclaimer. Hopefully we can now lay to rest any more comments relating to me shutting up and doing as I'm told. I agree with the biscuit man. Change is good, but those changes should be carefully thought out with concern for consequences down the road and for conformity with our traditions. Change isn't INHERENTLY good. We could all become hot dog vendors instead of mobsters. That would be one hell of a change. One point that was just raised was "What if it were the norm to remain unsponsored until Mademan?". Or something to that effect. Technically, you are not IN the family until you are a Mademan, but you still work for the family. You pay tribute to the Mademan who you do jobs for, and he then kicks up to his Capo, who kicks up to the Boss. "What if" I had a third eye in the middle of my forehead? Well, I don't, and neither does the mafia operate the way as has been suggested. No matter what the rank, you work for the family, and therefore you are allowed to commit crimes in family turf, and you are protected by the family. If you are NOT working for the family, these benefits are not granted to you. That's just the way it works. There's no getting around it. |

Wait... Unsponsored Gangsters are still allowed to run about committing crimes in areas run by a legitimate family without affiliation for 5 days??? Interesting. My suggestion is to pop your tit out of the young gangsters mouth and make them get in a family, stop mothering these folks that are obviously taking advantage JUST to do it. Even though the length of time isn't the main point...I would like to say that I think 48 hours is to long...but that's just me |

Pandemic I heard you say, "Surely the likes of Hi and Zoey should know better than to run to the streets voicing their concerns in public, as opposed to the alternative of having a discreet word with their respective bosses about their feelings." These streets are open for everyone to give their opinions, disagree and debate. Just because we work closely with our bosses doesn't mean we have to shut up and only talk to them. |

I have to admit. my line has never been for the 48hr rule let alone 5 days. I've always felt that newcomers to our shores are given the majority of the information they need without the time being dragged out any further. Also with the auth's we have now, it's not often there is a time that there aren't multiple representatives from families walking the streets. So really I can see no excuse for people staying unsponsered. They are earning in our cities without kicking up anything towards those who run the cities. I think the time for change is upon us and the protection that is offered be taken away. |

| your quite right there zoey but also there are responsibilities attached to the job of a right hand and lines that really shouldn't be crossed in street speaking. im sure both you and hi would agree with that? | |

Looks for some sort of box or barrel that he could stand on. No, neither available. Hi's automobile will just have to do. These are two very important pitches that have been made. We all know that rebuilding these cities during the aftermath of the war is in the best interests of everyone. Yes we have agreed that ample time for these gangsters should be implemented for their survival. Yet Hi has also brought to the attentions of many that this way of life has worked out thus far. So why baby these newcomers any more than whats really sufficient? Time is needed to build and not only time, but money! It seems that this thing of ours has become rather popular and the shores are being infested. Whether this infestation happens to flourish into a so called stunning establishment or the latter being that of a collection of parasites depends entirely on the decisions made by our leaders. Going back to my comment on the money situation. You may ask what does that have to do with anything? Its simple. More people means more spaces occupied, those who take the initiative to impress and survive, make it. Those who do not, end up in the obituaries. Fact. Now for those who don't have the space to accommodate have one of two options, get your family members to donate for those spots or beat the living shit out of them to get that response. I know some are thinking that bodyguards are essential and don't come cheap, but due to the legitimate accordance that all leaders have with regards to infrastructure, there shouldn't be a problem. Everyone should be able to sleep at night. As for the civilians, they won't stop coming and something has to be done. Many of our fathers and before them, made mistakes that ensured that we grasped the techniques in surviving the harsh realities that be. Now lets not be naive about about why many support lifting this ban. Many of you just want to get your rocks off by using your pistol on the less fortunate. Yes we know who you are! There is a popular belief that it does in fact make your dick bigger, well sorry to burst your bubble - it doesn't. So think twice before you start flashing your piece for no good apparent reason. And for fuck sakes, could someone please explain to me why five days is ample time to take in one of these thug wannabees, who get whacked the very next day for breaking the rules? I know of a few, and some of their sons have mentioned to me what exactly it was that their fathers were killed for. I will not give names so don't ask. Blah blah blah, hasn't he said enough? Fine! I'm off now. But I shall leave you with one question I've asked. Were you beaten as a kid or did you have the pleasures of being babied throughout your upbringing/raised? Raised? That goes for some of you cattle out there. And exactly how did that turn out? I have received the occasional whipping and I do still make mistakes, but I know where my place is and have learned to take my punishment. I'm no RHM nor LHM and most importantly, I'm definitely not the third leg that many of you self proclaimed tripods who seem to think that being a dick is a good thing. Walks off shaking the hands of some and repeating his new found campaign slogan throughout the streets "VagInATube for President!" |

No I don't agree that part of my job as Marietta's Right Hand is to not disagree with policy in public. My mother was one of Marietta's closest advisers and publicly disagreed with her about the punishment for pick pocketing. There's nothing disrespectful about simply disagreeing with someone. As I said already, these streets are open for everyone. |

Lighting up another smoke Charlie voices out yet another well said response What lines did they cross besides stating their opinion? They didn't mention names, they didn't state the bosses were wrong for their decision, nothing of the liking. All they are stating is their views on the subject. They are there to do so, and to those who always complain about leadership not making a street prescence and stating their views on the way of the world, where here it is. Now people want to try and call them out by stating they are crossing lines and being incorrect. If you are in favor of the rule, then why come out saying, "OMG you did not go there!" and not putting up your own views as well? Surely there must be a reason why you like it so much. So instead of making it about the leadership disagreeing with a subject why not state your own feelings whether it be in in favor or not because it's easy to argue by calling someone incorrect rather than explaining your own personal views. So surprise yourself and possibly put some thought into the subject matter at hand. View both sides of the scenario, then come out with a rational explanation rather than a negative comment without any backing to the matter. Flicks his smoke up in the air, watches it land down the back of some individuals shirt in the crowd and laughs as they jump up and down in pain |

Cab saunters to the front of the anxious sounding rabble in LA and taps Hi on the shoulder. As Hi stares at him with a vacant look on his face he shoots him a glance and Hi turns away quite obviously worried about what he has to say in retort....................... Change my friend, that's what the fuck is going on here. Change that has been welcomed by some, dismissed by others and more or less ignored by the remainder. I expected naysayers and doubters and am happy that you have made yourselves known to me, I always enjoyed a little constructive criticism and by doing so you have made an old man happy on an otherwise uneventful Monday. Lights a large cigar, draws and savours the initial effect.... Disgusted you say? I think that is a little strong; if you were worried, dubious, pessimistic or perhaps concerned I would understand in full but I fail to see how one can be disgusted after a mere 2 days of this policy being passed. I obviously understand that things have been the way they have for a while now and new ideas, processes and policies are going to raise eyebrows and stimulate opposition, but , without this, as I think has been proven time and time again, things will stagnate and become boring. Hopefully we, as a united front can bring about other, be they embraced or dismissed, changes to this world. I don't know about you but I like to be kept on my toes. I had a scan through our 7 cities censuses and could not find anywhere near the number of braggarts and connivers that your general tone seemed to imply; maybe your encounter was a fluke? By pure chance this scum of the earth fouled your path and for that I apologise. You are obviously the first of many, less gifted no doubt, orators that will meet the same fate in days to come. Pauses and motions for a drink..... I would hardly say we are allowing UNORGANISED crime to proliferate; there are a handful of newcomers to our shores that seem to have come down with a bout of some nasty virus rendering them near inactive but I am fairly unperturbed by them unless they catch my eye. As soon as they rise above the god given rank and alert me to their disorganised activities they will be dealt with. The_Big_Payback can be used as an example of this if you like, check the obituaries, you will find him. Turns to the boy with the drink, eying it suspiciously he brings the tumbler to his lips and sips....... You have however hit a chord with the peddling drugs scenario, this was a factor that was overlooked in the enforcement of this policy. As I stated in my original speech on the topic though, the exact semantics are subject to change so any input you could give me on how best to incorporate this loophole into the policy would be most appreciated. I would also have to agree with you on the tagged individual. I spotted him whilst I was going through the various censuses and while I too feel that he has had ample time to get into a family having been around to sport the tag, he is still effectively protected. I am sure this will be dealt with upon Don Marietta's return. Clears his throat and continues.... So in summary. Yes, this is to give a little more time for newcomers to our shores to try and find their way here. This was the defining factor in our decision. While a couple of factors may have been overlooked; as I say we can look to iron these out and make the changes more amicable to everyone. Food for thought though, and by throwing your opinions open to the masses you have highlighted a hole in the policy. We will look at getting some clarification on this matter shortly. Cab gives Hi an encouraging pat on the back and strides off down the road...... |

turns to look at Zoey and charliescene and the rest of the crowd. Chilli lights a cigarette as he shakes his head in disbelief Is this how far things have gotten in this thing of ours? Where we simply cannot state an opinion because automatically its branded as taboo... or something awful. Unbelievable. For a family to grow you need the opinions of your LHM/RHM/advisors... everyone.. no one is perfect and all knowing. You cant just be a blind 'yes' man. You need someone that will disagree with you. That way you can see a situation from all angles. After all we're not communists. If Zoey were to say she isn't going to follow the orders is one thing but she didn't. She just stated her opinion. What more do you want? What should people be held accountable for their opinions? You do that and I guarantee you this thing of ours will go down the toilet to shit. Where the fuck are all these people coming from with narrow mind set? I have recieved orders in the past that I didn't agree with. Hell my bloodline have recieved orders in the past that they do not agree with but they still followed orders. If you think you will agree with everything your boss says then you are just delusional. |

Cab, that wasn't a vacant look you noticed. I was simply staring at the booger hanging out of your nose. You should really check yourself in the mirror before appearing in public. Anyhow, if this is the way business is to be conducted, then so be it. It is our leaders, and not the members, who decide the course of direction. I cannot say that I agree with it, and my disagreement has nothing to do with time limits or the potential harm they can cause. My disagreement is one based purely on principle. La Cosa Nostra revolves around organization and family. This policy minimizes the importance of those pillars. Rather than teach the youngsters how to succeed through organization and structure, we will be giving them license to rob the stores we control and make money on our turf, free from tax. It does not matter that it has only been two days. The issue here is that we are deviating from the foundations of the mafia. One does not need to "wait and see" in order to notice this diversion. If there was an exceptionally good reason behind it, perhaps I could support it, but I fail to see the necessity for such a significant change in course. |

First I would like to thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to make an appearance even though, honestly, you really don't have too because it's not your job to explain shit too us. Although I would like to state my opinion, hopefully receive the same respect as I've shown you and not view it in a negative light, but as simply a response in debate. In all honesty, what is more stagnate than having Mafiosos wander the street doing absolutely nothing? They come to this world looking for action, they want to see the Mafia and all their glory, and personally, it makes us look soft. Not because, "Yes someone I can shoot!" but because, "Hey this fucker is just hanging around not doing a damn thing, he hasn't sent one peice of mail in interest of asking for assistance and he's making cash on my block." I just think it shows a weakness, it's about growth and prospeirity. For one they can't grow without a family, for two they shouldn't prosper without paying some sort of cut to the bosses. Once again these are all my opinions I mean no disrespect and I hope it is not viewed at in that sense. Nodding his head, Charlie goes back to leaning on the wall and listening to the debate some more with an open mind |

I think we need to respect the sovereignty of the families. I think a family from one city should not be making rules involving the territories of other families. However, from my understanding all CL's have agreed to the rules. We could safely assume what would happen if one had not. I consider unsponsoreds to be independant businessmen. The protection they have been afforded as far as their life I think is completely within reason. Every person has a right to live and killing an unsponsored just to strengthen your gun is preying on the weak. They are defenseless. BUT, that does not mean you cannot rob them blind. What I am wondering is why they are not being extorted like a motherfucker. If I were a CL and there was an unsponsored in MY city, they better be dirt poor because if they have money I'm taking it. If they refuse to pay or hide it THEN I should be able to kill them. Every CL has a right to every dollar bill in their city. If a CL wanted to tax people for coming into a city it is by all means their right as owner of that city. While I agree the protection is a bit too much, I think they have a right to live unless they do not pay tribute. But they should also be given the opportunity to pay the tribute, not just killed for not volunteering it. This could effectively be done the way Marietta has already done it but she was REALLY REALLY lenient. I would be robbing these suckers blind cause really who are they gonna cry to I'm the one giving protection, you know? |

Very nice thoughts, Assailant. You demonstrate a strong knowledge of this thing of ours. You also brought up another great point about city sovereignty. For the record, not ALL leaders agreed to this, and some were not even involved in the discussion. There are some things that must be universally agreed upon, however, or they just will not work. The killing of unsponsored criminals is one of those things. If one family does not agree to the same conditions as another family, either the other city leaders will get rid of the noncomplying Boss, or they will decide not to comply, themselves. Any other option puts their family at a disadvantage. There is a problem with too much mutual back scratching among leaders. It is a horrible problem and is evidenced by the last war. It involved EVERY FUCKING FAMILY in the country for one reason: there was reason to believe that there was no independence among families. Those decisions which can be made without conformity of other city leaders should be made without any input outside the city. That's another topic for another rant, though. |

As a new mobster to our world I was confused, lost and in need of help. I spoke to a few mobsters in the streets and they all advised me to 'tip up and join a family for my protection'... So I did just that, and I have worked my way slowly up the ranks over time with a lot of crime, gambling, correct politics and loyalty to my leader and my friends. These new mafioso need to do the same, without the added protections we are currently offering, I believe. For years now, our criminal world has had but a few 'unwritten rules' but family is one of the main rules and it must be respected. Points to the north to a poster that lists what city has what family and who has room In my eyes, you either join a family quick and earn your dues or you get fed to the wolves and we will let the next mobster with ambition and understanding of the mafia take your place.. |

I must agree with the general consensus here. 5 days is too long to offer protection to unsponsored gangsters. When my father first arrived on these shores, he was immediately made aware of the importance of family in this thing of ours. Because of that he did his research and talked to mafiosos, RHM's, Bosses, and whoever he needed to talk to in order to find out just what the family meant. Within hours of his arrival he was able to find out the repercussions of not joining a family. He got his information and made an informed decision to join a family. 48 hours is definitely ample time for a newcomer to find out the rules and either decide to follow them or not. If not, there are consequences and to agree with someone earlier, if they choose not to follow the rules, their offspring will be quick to ask questions and do what is needed to ensure their survival and prosperity. My father worked very hard in his short life to move up the ranks and become a trusted member of his family, I am doing the same. We were not granted the extended protection now offered to newcomers, neither were 99% of the other members of our community, neither should be the newcomers, especially since many of them may have been taught enough, by their parents, to exploit this newly granted protection. This has potential to be detrimental to this thing of ours as well as to the families. It is taking money from us, it is taking money away from the families and it is taking protection power away from the families and taking protection away from us. |

Walks up after hearing the discussion I don't know the thing is five day's is plenty enough time for anyone to seek shelter especially for us guy's that have had family in this thing of our's before. Even new comers that is plenty enough time I remember my grandfather telling us about times you only had two or so day's to be able to find a family willing to take you in. Yes the housing problem was an issue but you still got the Marietta protection plan so really there is no excuse why you don't have any type of shelter other than pure laziness. I guess another question would be is the any more CL's getting made or is it done. I could only imagine that is the other thing holding people up from joining a family. Even then again the Marietta protection plan covers you on that. Your not committed to her but only got protection that if your shot. Reply by: BigBlack at Oct 12, '08 17:52 Like Black stated if there is no more CL's getting appointed I see no use in this. If there is more Cl's I see use. Some family's feel it is treachery to join there family and leave it to join another. So there for if your friend makes CL after you join a family you may have to die just to be in it. That would suck if you was Earner or above. So I see use in waiting or not jumping into a family and taking your 5 day's. But originally it was given to us to find a family at the time CL's was getting appointed. So it was being used and was the right move. Also it was stated a goomba can be shot. So whats the problem? |

The problem is, that you have not taken the initiative to find a family. You wait to see if a friend would be appointed. And that will result in your death. Many think that this is one big joke. Laugh at those who pride themselves in protecting their families. Those who work hard for every cent that they earn. EARN. You have been around long enough to already know these things. Instead of doing your best to assist the flow of things, you idle with some hope that tomorrow will be a brighter day. The world does not evolve around one man...maybe just one...but the point is that its time that you jump on the bandwagon or get left behind. P.S Being left behind is not as fun as some would think. |

It is usually the case that most people don't want change to be introduced. We get used to things the way the are, doing things as we always have. But sometimes our community needs a little change, ways to improve things. I'm still neutral on the 5 day issue. Like all new things, it will take time to see how and if it will work. So before I choose a side on the issue, I would like to see how it goes. In a way, it could be a good thing, encouraging new life onto our streets. But I can see how people are against it, as it lets gangsters run around with no family, and having protection for no commitment. One way to solve the issue of new mafioso dying so quickly, is to offer them help. Many of them don't have any idea of how to get started, are afraid to approach a boss, or don't know how to go about it. We should provide them with the knowledge they need, and that may keep down the amount of homeless gangsters roaming around. |
