I agree with MichaelLaMotta. If you're dueling someone do BGs come into account? If so, if they cannot shoot through your BGs do you automatically win? And if you both cannot shoot through each other's BGs is it just like Russian roulette at that point where both shooters are hoping to 1% each other?

Report Post Tip

Your BG's are included into the math.

Report Post Tip

" is it just like Russian roulette at that point where both shooters are hoping to 1% each other?"

In the event that neither person has a chance of killing the other (1% or less), then it starts off at 1% and then slowly increases per round until someone dies, this prevents it from going possibly 100 rounds each side to hit that 1%.

Report Post Tip

:/
Ok so this is my understanding
2 people who can't hit each other = 1% Russian Roulette.
2 people that can hit each other = whoever shoots first wins, unless WB,possibly kill each other.
1 that can kill and one that can't = capable one wins almost always, except when 1%ed or WB?

Am I heading in the right direction here squishy?

Izzy,

You mention that you view this as a fair way for two people to settle their differences.

Is it then fair to assume, if someone challenges another person, AT RANDOM, WITH NO PREVIOUS COMMUNICATION, to a duel.... this is not using the feature for what it was attended for?

I am not saying two friends dueling each other, I am more saying, someone who sends a random invite to a complete stranger, just for the sake of trying to get a kill.

Report Post Tip

That doesn't sound very gentlemanly.

Report Post Tip

Squishy, I would very much like an answer to the question Phil_Steak has already asked.

Report Post Tip

"Is it then fair to assume, if someone challenges another person, AT RANDOM, WITH NO PREVIOUS COMMUNICATION, to a duel.... this is not using the feature for what it was attended for?"

The feature is intended so that two people can settle a difference, have fun, or compete. My own personal philosophy is that people should discuss things via mobmail/irc/some other avenue before a challenge personal is sent via the dueling feature.

Report Post Tip

I would very much like to see an answer to the very first question asked here... if possible :/

----

"Is it then fair to assume, if someone challenges another person, AT RANDOM, WITH NO PREVIOUS COMMUNICATION, to a duel.... this is not using the feature for what it was attended for?"

In these situations, It would still require the second person to accept, therefore making it two accepting parties into the duel, Should someone receive an invite, there is nothing stopping them ignoring/deleting it?

I should hope that if there is people sending random invites in the future for the sake of "getting a kill" that eventually it backfires on them and someone accepts and pwns them.

Report Post Tip

A newer player may accept not understanding the situation. It may be mistaken as something such as an OC. It can result in a miss click with someone on a mobile phone who wanted to decline.
Random duel invites feel like simply random wacking.

Report Post Tip

"A newer player may accept not understanding the situation."

When you click to reply to your personal you are presented with a screen with an explanation much like the one when you send a challenge. It's pretty clear that its deadly.

"It can result in a miss click with someone on a mobile phone who wanted to decline."

True, though you can also choose not to reply either way. After 5 minutes its expired.

Report Post Tip

If you are pro'ed and then have a duel with someone and win does that revoke your pro like any other killing would?

Report Post Tip

This new feature was good, but in case of war, I just figured it out that someone can abuse this feature how?

When a person trying to find someone on their locals and can't see their targets they can abuse the feature "dueling" spam it, till they find or someone finds their target, unlike pickpocket has 1 hour cooldown, as we all know you cant invite people thats not on the same city if im right, but what if you can't see him on your locals? you can still invite him? what's the use of being stealth then, my point was at least if you can't see the person on your locals you wouldn't be able to invite him on a duel or at least if you have more stealth than the one trying to invite you, there's a confirmation msg appears if you want to response or not without compromising your own stealth.

Report Post Tip

DeathStalker is right. There should be.an option like the OC option which we can use to switch off during wars.

Report Post Tip

In option 4 (We both shoot at the same time.) assuming both party's can kill each other but one has a significantly greater gun skill, how is the victor chosen? Is it Random chance? or does gun stats factor in the decision making?

Report Post Tip

The dice is rolled for both individually, but at the same time.

If A's wack is enough to beat the dice roll, A hits B

If B's wack is enough to beat the dice roll, B hits A

They can both die :)

Report Post Tip

can the upper structure actually deny dueling? i was under the impression that the whole point of the duel is to not have them involved in the first place?

Report Post Tip

"can the upper structure actually deny dueling?"

The upper structure can not deny dueling between to consenting accounts.  If they do, it results in restrictions placed on the city as a whole such as travel restrictions, loss of all NPCs, and other features based upon the severity of the restrictions.  Further attempts to restrict it will result in a recode of the feature so that it can not be restricted.

Report Post Tip

Izzy, I just want to try and clear something up here. What if the person receiving them, doesn't want them? Is there a way we can toggle the invited on and off like we do OCs? Or can the CL's actually consider that the receiver doesn't want to be invited to them, and that way the CLs can work out with their members and advise them not to be sending the individual an invite?

We can block mails, turn of OC invited, and now have other options to our PP/Mug. People can also use duel invited to find a locals on people without throwing jails (which is convineint for them, but not the person getting the invite) and well, it is going to and has been already abused in that order. No risk in the PP or being mugged back, but if you can hit, you can find them with a duel invite.

This, to me, encourages people to start on wack answers even stronger due to the WB only being on real players and stealth can be found multiple ways considering all these new methods. I don't see any harm of people being able to toggle it like OC's, it has always been the players choice in those aspects.

I just feel a bit powerless (in which I don't think is fair) that I can't stop or talk to another CL about their members sending unwanted invites to mine. CL's talk to each other and work out matters on the PP/mugs, so I know this can be controlled a little better if we were given more lead way on how we can handle it.

These are just a very few things that bother me about this duel addition. I understand your reasoning for not allowed CL's to tell their whether they can or can't duel, and I support them. We even have a list of questions in our HQ to advise those that do wish to duel, so this isn't a request for a CL to say "NO! You can never do it!!". Just a "Hey, my members doesn't like invites. Can you talk to yours?".

Report Post Tip

"CL's talk to each other and work out matters on the PP/mugs"

That's the problem right there though :/  That level of micro management overly complicates everything.  If a player doesn't want to be PP'd, he simply mugs back.  End of story.  If the original attacker complains he was mugged, tough titty.  His own leader should smack him for not being able to deal with the consequences of his own actions.

I have, however, just changed it so that a duel challenge can be sent to anyone, even if they are not in the same city.  It can only be accepted if they are in the same city.  This will close the loophole to help identify people.
