I have no clue what happened to Rancid last night as I was fast asleep when it happened.
People have been asking me to post a thread telling people not to shoot his unsponsored. However, I only ever spoke to Rancid once and he never made an effort to speak to me. So someone tell me, why should I protect his family?
I do not protect people who I have no affiliation with.
As for his city, I shall speak with the remaining Godfather's to see what we can do with his city.

Makes sense I guess. No point breaking your back for someone you don't even know. After all, you'd be risking the lives of your crew by enforcing any embargo on killing Rancid's ex-members. And I'm a member of your crew. And I don't want to die, I'm too pretty.

Just days ago you, and your peers, offered protection to many people with absolutely no ties to your respective organizations, no? You owed them nothing, they had proven nothing. You simply made the decision to protect them, as they had nowhere to go at the time.
Now, obviously, it's a different situation today, and I'm not saying your decision is right or wrong. In fact, I'm not saying that about either decision. Just saying that a precedent does, in fact, exist. |

That's not his problem. If some of them are your friends, then it would be good to provide them temporarely home or something. But otherwise, you better don't put your fingers in there... |

Precedent does exist, but protection was offered to refugees from a war, which our family had a large part in. War leaves too many unsponsored to just ignore, and with less leaders in the mix, there was going to be an influx of the refugees. The previous decree was meant to keep our worl going until more leaders could come forward and offer more solid protection, which did happen and the 48 hour protection was lifted by Sing.
As for this situation, these are merely refugees from one family who had no affiliation with Sing or the Marksquad. This was not war and it does not look like additional leaders will die, so why should protection be offered to only a few? |

Some of us with Rancid were there as a direct result of the war. First I lost my boss Rhett, and then woke up to find myself homeless when Mach fell casualty to the war. Finding there was no room for me in the spin off families, and being shot at by my own side, Rancid took me in.
So you see, it's not always black and white. |

It is black and white and you have said nothing to the contrary. Just because Rancid was a safe harbor point for war refugees does not mean that everyone else should continue following protection orders forever. Should we wait until the very last survivor of the last war is dead before we can move on?
Alas, the war is over, and has been for a couple of days. Now, it is just people living and dying. If your leader dies, then you must find a new home quickly or die as well. Unless another protection order is issued, I see no reason to continue talking about the previous war and calling for protection because you are a refugee from a long dead leader. |

I'm not saying that all who aren't friends with a CL are not welcome to any familly. Just incase the HQ is almost full, shelter should be provided to just a few unfortunatly. As for the Wack thing,I can't guarantee anything. You will have to figure something out...sry |

Well SWYW, perhaps you didn't know Rancid well. But you knew a lot of his crew including me well. So if your reasoning is that you didn't know him, should we then assume that if a CL dies whom you do know well, their members will receive protection? Rancid had had barely time enough to get his HQ up and going and filled, obviously not enough time to get to know all CLs and he set up during the war because he knew as Oliver MacTavish said "the more CLs, the more pressure".
It used to be a standing thing that for 24 hours anyone with a tag would not be shot. I am thoroughly disgusted that that is a thing of the past. |

Rancid's crew doesn't deserve at least a 24 hour no touch. I mean afterall, what did they do to deserve a chance to wake up and find shelter or a new home. Shame on them for going to sleep or going to the store for cigars and wine. They should have been here waiting and watching. A good Mobster knows not to look away. Right? Any decent gangster knows that it's only fair to take advantage of innocent homeless, becuz HEY! they weren't looking!! |

Believe me, I am not saying that Rancid's former members should be protected. If it doesn't benefit you, there really is no logical business reason to offer them protection. Unless it makes you feel good. That's a fine enough reason to do anything.
I'm just saying that there was no logical business decision behind instating the 48 hour rule, either. They were simply doing what they thought was "right". It just made them feel good. Fair enough.
And before anyone rebuts, I'd like to remind everyone of the large difference between business and humanitarianism. |

Aha! here we go with the masses dictating what a crewleader should do etc....why do we even bother with HQ's and families? Why don't we all just make a big lottery where a name is drawn and they run shit for a week?
Sure hisory has dictated that killing the homeless was something to be frowned upon, and leaders at the time made laws about it and enforced those laws. But as it sits there are no laws set in stone by anyone.Sure temporary laws about it were enforced after the war as people said but that was after the war and that part of history is behind us.Like my boss said he was asleep when this incident with rancid took place. Some of you will say that COMMON SENSE dictates that you should not shoot the homeless....but then again common sense has tendancies to go asty around here.No rules were in effect so bad things happened to good people. This is not the first time this has happened and certainly won't be the last.Do not dwell on what happened yesterday, just try and prepare for the future.Installing the rule is up to the crewleaders not the masses.Complaining to a crewleader and pointing fingers is a waste of time (The Dingos ate that baby long ago)....asking that a rule be instated is a much better approach. |

A crew leader must assume full responsibility for the safety of his or her crew. Every decision they make must be made with the betterment of their crew in mind. It seems that Rancid died without making any kind of procedure to follow in the event of his death. His choices created a course of action that resulted in his death, and the ultimately death of his crew.
Do not blame other crew leaders for the inadequate planning of the deceased.
Every death that happens of his crew can only be blamed on the poor planning and lack of organization of the Rancid family. Scapegoats should not created to cover up this simple fact. |

Exactly. He should have hired a pony express rider to inform each and every person under his leadership to wake up and run for cover. |

Alright, the "save Rancid's crew" campaign has succeeded... in boring me.
I entered this conversation really not caring what happened to these people. I just like to discuss and debate policies and such. After a few hours of back and forth, I still couldn't give half a shit -- not even with Lucks' bleeding heart.
Oh, shit, sorry... that was a bit harsh of me. I'm not a criminal or anything like that.
Seriously. I sell war bonds. |

Ameileah, I think what he meant was that Rancid could have actually done something, like meet with the leaders to discuss a universal rule protecting the homeless members of deceased leaders. That is how he could have planned for something like this. Instead of doing that, he did...ummm...I'll get back to you on that. No one mentioned the pony express. It hasn't even been used in almost forty years.
Personally, I don't believe the recently homeless should be target practice, but I also don't believe that we are a humanitarian organization which should make it our business to protect those who aren't affiliated with us. I think you can distinguish the recent 48 hour rule as an "OOC necessity" to give recent Civilians a decent chance to get into a family. The people we are talking about now were able to get into a family. Good enough. After that point, they must face the dangers of our world just like everyone else must. |
