Sitting at their regular table in Giovanni's Restaurant the Godfather and Don of Detroit talked about the recent attack by rogues. They spoke quietly between bites of food. When a waitress came to the table to take their empty plates the mobsters stopped talking about business. They resumed their conversation a few seconds later.

"It pisses me off when people help rogues." Marietta sighed and picked up the glass of wine on the table in front of her. "As far as I'm concerned when they helped the rogues they contributed to the death of Tatiana." The Godfather stared down at the red wine in her glass. Her eyes showed sadness over losing one of her best friends. She took a sip of wine and looked across the table at Zoey. "Get rid of them."

Without hesitation the leader of Ruthless Inc. nodded and responded with the words she always told Marietta when she gave an order.

I'll take care of it.

Later that night with the help of a few family members Zoey followed through with the Godfather's order then returned home to Detroit on the red eye flight from Los Angeles. The Don yawned as a taxi took her home from the airport. She was tired, but instead of going into her house when she got out of the taxi she went to the streets and talked to a few mobsters.

As you guys can see there's been more bloodshed. I'm responsible for it and I'll tell you why in a moment. Normally I don't think leaders have to explain to anyone why they did something, but I don't want people to assume the deaths that happened tonight are because of the take down in Chicago. That didn't effect my family, my business or me.

A few nights ago rogues killed a leader and a few other people in our business. While trying to protect Godfather Marietta's Right Hand, Tatiana from one of the rogues she was killed. We blame the rogue and the people who protected him with shots that prevented hitters from killing him. We also blame the people who allowed the pro wackers to continue what they were doing. At the top of that list was Bi-Polar_Bear's Right Hand Man, Hi.

Other than the information we heard earlier during the discussion about the Chicago take down my family and I had other evidence that incriminated Hi. I'm not going to go into detail about what it was, but it and Hi not denying what was heard on the streets earlier made us take action tonight. We have no tolerance for people who contribute to the death of members of our family.

I've made it perfectly clear to everyone my actions in this thing of ours are about business. When rogues interrupt the flow of our business by killing our most trusted members and top dollar earners people in cahoots with them will suffer the consequences. Although every family has it's own agenda it's imperative nobody side with rogues and show a divided front. Rogues are bad for business, everyone's business. In this case, Hi contributed to actions that effected my business. We weren't going to wait around for him to do it again.

Thomas looks on grimly after the blood had been spilled

Today was a heartbreaker. I cannot express how deeply I am saddened by having to take out Clan OMalley. However, all the reasons Zoey has stated are 100% reaffirming. You see, the bottom line to our way of life is not respect or honor, it is money. When our livelihoods are threatened and our income disrupted we have no choice but to act, because I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I'm not exactly cut out to be a legit businessman.

When rogues surface it is our job to band together and take them down without suffering high casualties or a lengthy break from earning a salary. Instead, Hi struck a deal with Malicious where his family would be spared and the rest damned. That is unacceptable. We had suspected that something was fishy with Clan OMalley when the order came down from the rogue's RHM in a mass mail that no L.A. families were to be touched. Then today, Hi confirmed in front of us all that he not only brokered a deal for his family's safety, but was also aware of a prowacker in his family. A prowacker directly responsible for the deaths of Taskmaster, Tatiana, Bingowings, and Shaggs.

Since Malicious has died, the person who was prowacking from Bi-Polar_Bear's family had not been reprimanded, but rather promoted to the rank of Capo. Again, I can respect trying to protect your family, but when there are brave people like Zoey, Marietta, HandiMan, Horatio_Caine, JimmyTheLionHeart, and Gambino on the front line trying to eliminate the threat to our way of life, and one family (in this case Clan OMalley) gets a free pass, well you better hope that the rest of us don't find out. We did. This is the result.

You can argue semantics about family, loyalty, and respect until you are blue in the face, but when the final bell rings, Papa still needs a new pair of shoes.

Absolut waits till Thomas finish speaking soon after Zoey.

In my personal opinion with what was shown, removing Clan Omalley was the right thing to do. Helping a rogue goes against protecting your family especially knowing your family is helping. If evidence submerges, which in this case did, you're looking at death. Family first is what everyone believes, but never is one member of your family worth lives of twenty, thirty or even fifty.

Absolut coughs as the cold air fills his lungs.

All together it's understandable. Anything bad for business needs removed. Hi acted as if he was justified by taking out Chicago today yet helped rogues. Essentially he killed the families in Chicago trying to protect his family but didn't think about the implements of all of his actions. Poor show all around by Clan Omalley. This just goes to show that we must think as a whole not as an individual when working in a family.

I agree whole-heatedly with this course of action and applaud the leaders that went through with it. While I had no ill will toward Hi and have found him to be a very helpful and knowledgeable member of our community and don't like to hear of his passing, brokering deals with rogues and holding back punishment for those that have helped rogues breaks the rules. Breaking the rules has consequences.

Rogues are very detrimental to everything we all work so hard to obtain. My world was a bit shaken when Taskmaster fell to rogues. I had been promoted and offered a position in the family. When he fell, I wanted revenge, but revenge was against the rules, hence I am still here. Members going rogue should not be tolerated and I am very happy to see that it was not, and that rogue helpers are not either.

Zoey adds to the conversation.

The threats have been eliminated. We would appreciate it if people not wack the unsponsored mobsters from L.A. tattooed with Clan OMalley. Give them 24 hours to find a new home.

He wronged and it was, correctly, his downfall. I'm sure the man who loves to lecture on the ways of this thing of ours can have no complaints. He cost his family dearly.
Report Post Tip
I completely agree with the decision to go ahead with this takedown. The actions of the Clan O Malley leadership proved that business would continue to suffer if something were not done. Hi was a powerful man in his family and a highly respected Mafioso on the streets. However, the line between protecting family and endangering the hierarchy of things as they are can sometimes be a thin one.

While it is plausible that Hi did so only to protect his own family, it is equally possible that there was a greater benefit and advantage to be gained from making deals with rogues. When Marietta and Zoey attained the evidence they needed to outline this possibility, action was taken - necessary action.

Let it be shown that from this point forward, any family that harbors, gives aid, or promotes "Rogueism" will be subject to the same scrutiny and justice that was seen this past night.

Well i lost some good friends last night and some great gangsters. We live in a world without courts but justice sometimes finds its way round things. Athought i can never agree so many people should die for so little whether by rogues or off the various families this is the way we live and die in this thing of ours.

Where i agree with there being a fine line between protecting family and dealing with rogues i cannot agree with assisting them and the fact they should be wiped out promptly by efficient guns not the squirt pistols some use.

However i have to slightly disagree with Teruzio's judgement regarding actions where a family member helps a rogue. As sons daughters bring new life to this world they could help rogues for the sole purpose of that family being brought down.

I wish the best for those that survived the recent events and those sons and daughters thrust into this thing of ours and rest eternal for those who never.

Captain Tycho,

I completely understand where you are coming from. When you are a leader vying for power in a game of power and control, using whatever tools and/or means necessary to put your rivals at a disadvantage are always "on the table." It would seem that any leader or right hand NOT using any means to put their family in an advantageous position should and would be committed for a head examination. There is of course, a downside to this methodology when concerning the harboring and/or support of Rogues...

Rogue leaders often seek chaos, not just power as we see it. Their motivations are often irrational to our way of thinking and disrupt every aspect of business and order. It is for these reasons, that rogues are a danger not only to every family that thrives from business, but also the very framework of our way of life-even life itself.

In other words...

"Sometimes men just want to watch the world burn"

And I don't know about you sir, but I don't think it will be worth having to burn down the entire forest to stop them later on
Report Post Tip
i can never agree with rogues who rank just for chaos sakes, they go against the principles of this thing of ours and are the most lethal to our interests(unless they suck really bad or never shoot, i never understood them ones). I personally believe they, their members and accomplices should be shot. I believe those innocent parties(almost impossible to prove) should not fall victim though.

The problem of this world of ours is sometimes the danger especially with tight knit families or those who have housed/re-housed generations of families how do you choose who to spare.
Report Post Tip
Well crap.

Anyhow, I would like to throw in a bit of a defense on behalf of my father. There is a difference between helping rogues and not actively pursuing them. My father did not help any rogues. When he figured out who was prowacking, he removed that person's gun. In that sense, he did not allow that person to continue helping the rogue.

As far as the letter to Malicious, that was only politicking to ensure his family would not be attacking, which was a responsible move in my opinion.
Report Post Tip
I think you did the right thing Zoey. It seems a shame to have to spill yet more blood after the events of the last few days.

I thought that we authed more leaders nowdadays so that when there was a war, the entire community wasnt wiped out. Instead we have had about 4 different wars in the space of a weekend! Oh well.

Seems to me that if you find the name of a gangster proing rogues. Then you find that he is in your family! There should only be a few seconds between receiving this information and that person being HQ'd.
Report Post Tip
Pure_Healm, I agree with you that it's a shame so many people lost their lives over the past few days. The rogues started a chain of events that included the war with Doyle and last night's take down. This only strengthens my point that rogues are bad for everyone's business, but the community hasn't been wiped out. There are currently seven families with space available.

Another point I want to make is it wasn't just the deal between Hi and Malicious that I didn't like. Making a deal with the devil isn't right, but sometimes it's the safest thing to do. What pissed me off was the pro wacker was part of the deal and her gun was not taken the first time she was pointed out as a suspect. She was allowed to continue pro wacking, left alive after helping rogues then promoted. What the fuck?
Report Post Tip
I would like to point out the inherent dangers of what looks like a renewed series of "Rogue Wars," the likes of which we have not seen for years in this thing of ours. While the recent family wars and takedowns were a direct result of irresponsibility and poor decision making on the part of some of the deceased family leaders who in some form, either harbored or aided rogues, I would also like to point out the danger in acknowledging this fact.

When rogues see that their strategy has worked to create chaos and change to their liking, it will only further entice them to continue along their present course. I suggest therefore, that family leaders begin making serious changes to the who they promote and the manner in which they promote individuals. Let me elaborate further...

Family Don's and Bosses should begin promoting people to Made and above only when they know they can fully trust that individual. Trust of course is not an easy thing to gain, but extremely easy to lose. Lets face facts also - not everyone is cut out to be a Made Man, a Capo, a Boss, a Consigliere, or a Don - let alone achieve Godfather status. It is the responsibility of the leaders to decide from each individuals words and actions, what is best for them and for the family. Everytime you promote someone to Made Man status, you are entrusting the lives of all of the family in their hands. If they screw up, it will be the leaders responsibility to punish them accordingly - not promote them further.

The failure to make these changes I am afraid, will only result in a further decline to our society. Decadence is the whore that charges the ultimate price. I suggest we don't give her the chance to collect.
Report Post Tip
In relation to Teruzio's points; I'd like to point out that in the detested CP era, there were less rogues than any other thanks to the reference system.

It may not have been popular, but it did work.
Report Post Tip
Without going into too much detail about why or why not this should of happened. I'll just say this.

If you as a leader, think another leader is either; dragging the community down; causing problems between leader; a threat to your and your families life; or just basically isn't doing the job properly. You will not just sit back and let it happen, you will do something about it as and when you can. Pondering on it too long just makes it worse, even though being hasty will also sometimes lead to a bad outcome.

If they are doing any of the above things, you as a leader would eliminate them, thus sorting out the problem.
Report Post Tip
Oasis, you bring up a valid point about the number of rogues during the CP/reference era (which coincedentally was brought about by a number of rogues). There were not many rogues at that time.

However, the rogues that did set up were among the most effective of all time and ultimately (regardless of the circumstances, that's a point that has been debated ad nauseum and frankly is better off untouched) brought the CP regime to a crashing halt. That era ended with a simple case of quality over quantity (in terms of rogues).
Report Post Tip
Also, Teruzio, I am not certain whether I should take offense to one of your points or not.

"Family Don's and Bosses should begin promoting people to Made and above only when they know they can fully trust that individual."

Through your word choice (ie. should and begin) you seem to be insinuating that the current crop of crewleaders have been negligent in their decisions to hand out badges. To the best of my knowledge this is a completely unqualified statement. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that each rogue that popped up came from one of the deceased families. These families have since been removed.

Personally, I have an extensive set of guidelines and qualifications that I put my Wise Guys through before they reach the hallowed rank of made man. I know for a fact that Gambino has a similar set of requirements. I assume that the other families do as well.

Do you have any knowledge of my standards? I doubt it. Please gather all the facts before you come out and make a statement that could be construed as "preaching" to the current crop of leaders.

Azuela,

My intentions were not to formerly address any one specific family and how they conduct their promotions and business. More or less I was alluding to the events that transpired this weekend. It was a "catch-all" phrasing that was meant to not single anyone out, but to identify a generational problem in the current society.

If you feel threatened or in any way offended by my word choice, I cannot of course control your sentiments or feelings. No, I do not know how you conduct your business so I of course cannot possibly comment further. Then again, that does not mean anyone gives you the benefit of the doubt either that you haven't promoted dangerous characters. People tend to make assumptions and that is not something I can control either. It was my intention to make clear that every current leader and future leaders to rise up to the ranks should heed the lessons learned from this weekend and think twice of rewarding people within their own ranks simply for earning lots of money for the family.

As a leader, you will be subject to the scrutiny and judgements of the rest of the families - that is not really something you can deny. But again, my word choice was not entirely set-in-stone, legally based, word for word solid. I was using a catch-all so that I would not have to single any leaders out. If you take offense and single yourself out, I cannot of course avoid that either. Using the phrasing I did, I would have hoped to have avoided any accusations or false assumptions, but no word choice is perfect I suppose.

Take it as you would
