Offline can't be wacked? Started by: Pitt on Dec 24, '13 21:02

I know this may have been brought up along the line some where but im to lazy to look. Basically the idea i have rolling around in this almost empty head is if you offline you cant be wacked.

Reason is because lets say you put in the work of nine months and a family emergency comes up and you have to be away from the game for about six hours. If war beaks out in that time and then you get killed while offline then what was the point of building for nine months.

Also, reduce the protection time from four hours to one hour. Make wars a little more intense if your one of those people who refresh for four to 8 hours without a break.

All this would go well together. Of course like seven days of inactivity your offline protection will be gone and you can die. RIAs, IAs and Durdens would be the same. They can be shot while offline as they aren't player accounts.

I know if this were to be implemented some of the older player may find more interest and even newer players as well.

Now lets say a person does something horrid/disrespectful. They can still be HQ'd while offline. I know this doesn't give the almighty +1 but if they need to die then HQ wack is the way to go.

Just some suggestions from ones mind. :D

I for one like the idea however lets see how much positive attention this gets and hopefully enough people like it as well then maybe we can push for it to be implemented.

I am not a fan of this to be honest, is too easy to use it as a war tactic, i get my hitters to log on  in waves or stuck not being able to hit someone just coz offline.  People give me word when people are online or offline, so i know how and when to strike and people are helpless against it. I think the risk has been what the game has ben made off and with war one wave or two recently bar NY and Ladyfighter, pro times don't really matter.

There could be a grace period of a 10 or so minutes after you log off where you could be wacked, but after that, you just need to wait. The one thing that has burnt my ass for years is the ammount of work we put in, only to wake up in the morning/night/ect to find out that someone took you out while you where asleep. It is a real kick in the balls to lose a 9 month old account with out a change to fight back.

I do understand that its just apart of the life blood of the game, but I'm one old timer who would mind some serious discuss and change made on this front.

Not a big fan of this, to be honest. Yes, I know better than most the pain of loosing a character that you've invested a considerable amount of time to while you're asleep. However, seeing things from the other side of the spectrum.... this suggestion takes out one of the largest parts of war planning....figuring out when to hit.

This is an immense part of both the RP aspect of the game and the way the game has been played for as long as I can remember. Personally, if this were to be implemented, I may find to loose the interest I have in the game.

I agree with this honestly.

I understand this could be a huge loophole for people to stay logged off until they have pro shotters if people like this following possible suggestion to stop abusing the loophole, maybe you can be shot at if you are pro shotted but your pro time runs out and you are offline?

This would force people who will just sit offline because they have no pro shotters available at the time and wait until they do, it would allow for people to die offline but only because a pro shot ran off allowing one more shot to pass through?

I am not exactly sure if this makes any sense so let me know what you think?

Report Post Tip

Yes there would need to be a grace period of 10 mins. Not saying as soon as you log off you cant be shot. This would also bring new planning to a war. Basically planning when the most leaders or hitters are on from the opposing side.

Report Post Tip

I would think that this would be a great thing for the game! I have logged on countless times to find myself dead and not have a clue why. But, I would think you would only have a 8-10 hours grace period. Just long enough for someone to sleep/go to work/etc. But, I would think that a weeks is entirely too long! And, this should no count for unsponsored members, simply because from a war perspective it would suck to wait until everyone comes online in a city to get a wipe. If you kill the leader then all the members are open to shoot as well.

Im not for this, tbh. For me, its risk vs reward. we all know the business we choose to partake in, we all know it can be taken at the drop of a hat, admins have done a lot of work to try to balance out the amount of effort put into an account vs how quick it can be taken away by removing wb death from none active members, gun tapering etc etc.

But for me, its all part of planning a war, what time zones are your opponents from, when would it be "easier" to hit them, when will their big guns be more likely to be sleeping, I don’t see any wrong in that. First waves are more important than anything now; with the way the cities are divided into districts and flight time and such.

As someone before me has mentioned, wars, and a I mean a real war, not a take down, last for a considerable amount of time, sometimes too long, all this would do is further lengthen that process needlessly, imo.

If something HAD to be put in, billy's suggestion is not a half bad one, but i don’t see a real need to change THIS aspect.

Not a fan of this.

At a push, maybe give people a certain number of offline hours of protection, but I think that this will be far too easily abused.

Report Post Tip
I love the idea. I've told myself that the next time I log on and get that dreadful message, I'm not coming back. There has to be a way to keep people from abusing it.

Looking through old threads and this needs a bump up

Why does it need bumped, Vincent? What does it bring to the table that you find would be needed in the current game climate?

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $20,000 Tip

This does nothing for the current state of the game, also this is pacifist heaven your killing me rn

Report Post Tip

I think regardless of the possibility for this to be exploited, it doesn't seem like a good idea to reward people for not playing.

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $20,000 Tip

If this was implemented it could only apply to those that were active and sitting offline for too long to prevent dying in a war would result in the offline protection being waved.

Report Post Tip

Reason one does not convince me because my thinking is this : Really this is a game, Real life should come first with no hard feelings to what happens to you while you are way from a game dealing with Real life.

Also mentioned and I agree with is that being safe from being whacked while offline can and will be abused. Example two cities go to war, if you are safe from whacking while offline, what is to keep one entire city from logging off for a day or two  to avoid the war or being whacked?

I do like the idea of reducing the protection time from 4 hours is a bit long to wait.

Report Post Tip

The one suggestion I can throw in here is this...

Go into hiding for 8 hours

You can not be wacked at for 8 hours whilst offline.

Cost: 20 credits

- You may only use this action once a week

- You must not have used your wack timer in the last 4 hours

Having this feature being usable only once a week makes it viable although this does still have a downside as Rogues could use this as a means to wait for more pro-wackers.

This could potentially give big hitters a chance to turn the tides of war if they have timed it right.

It's only as far as I would go for something like this suggestion to be implemented.

If i need to stop shooting in order to activate it dont think it can turn the tides much. Thats 12 hours the other side can keep attacking, anyone who knows what thete doing wont allow your pros to stay alive until the 12 hours are up.

Also there  are numerous ways to avoid being first waved, going incog is one and that 101 stealth is nice for when there looking to setup a wave. Neither is 100% gonna lead you to living longer but its a start.

Also as someone who has rogued, it would be quite disappointing i work 3 months to kill a group of ppl and after the first shot they all go into this offline unkillable thing. Honestly that would be some scaredy cat shit and the game is already like that, there are hardly wars😂😂 also i have seen other games ruined by this type of protection  . Not everyone has 20 credits to spend not everyone has the privilege of holding on to 20 creds at all times. Some ppl play for free and thus invest those creds on building the run up.
