| A rash of Suicides and Retirings | Started by: Prozac on Dec 28, '08 19:03 |

As you all may have noticed much like I have, there have been an increasing number of suicides and retirings. This is a disturbing trend that im not sure why is happening. Are people not happy? Do we not provide enough profit to keep you in a lifestyle that you like? Are you being beaten by your crewleader? There are so many other questions I could ask on this but what I really want to hear is the words of the friends or family of the recent suicides and retirees. Have you spoken to these people prior to their decision to end their lives or walk away from these shores of ours? Did you try to stop them only to find your words fall on deaf ears? I would like some feedback on this so we can try to stop this trend. Wasting of life is never a good thing. I would also like to take volunteers for a suicide help line that we can set up to help those that are thinking about putting a gun to their heads. I am considering that they have pondered their mortality based on the recent events that have been publicly mailed out by various leaders and their accomplices. Due to the dire state of things: advanced age and dementia, fatal and permanent bodily dysfunctions... the future must seem a place they do not want to see. |

I have actually coincidentally posted about the same issue in the OOC. Just shows I am not alone in this situation and I'm not just hallucinating from the over dosage of the drugs I purchase. I have been baffled by the same incidents and am disappointed for the disrespect they show for their leaders. |

A couple weeks ago I came up with an idea to help solve this problem, but alas it was never truly discussed and implemented as I had hoped. Perhaps it can be discussed in a more private room not too long from now, but I believe it will solve this and many other issues we have been having as of late. |

Suicide is something that we should take into account for sure. People taking there own lives is a big deal. Some just might not be able to handle the pressure of killing someone in cold blood. Others might owe a lump sum of cash to a loanshark and has had a hit put out on them. Thus leaving there hard earned cash that worked for and hid being left for the next of there kin for protection. A lot of people can justify that, but other family lines and leaders might see that as something disrespectful or dishonorable. |

I personally have seen these suicides used as ways for people to get away from their problems. Problems that are usually caused by themselves for acting stupid. As for retirements, I have no clue. Maybe some of us are growing tired of being in the business. |

| A lot of things fall into this.. sometimes it seems hopeless, yet sometimes we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It gets hard when your not 'in' and some people cannot do it. | |

| Either or, its no excuse. I have always felt strongly against suicide or retirement. If someone can come to me asking for my protection, asking for an opportunity to work for and with me, then they also have the ability to speak to me about their so called early retirement, in which I will decide on how they make that transition to the after life. | |

All these people need to do is come to us to talk to us. Not disrespect us and the other people in the family by suiciding or retiring. There are always options. Death is not the be all to end all in most cases. It takes a few minutes to have a conversation and work things out rather than wasting so much time building up your reputation and name only to shoot yourself in the head. This is a topic that the leaders will be discussing soon no doubt as it seems to be increasing as of late. |

I agree with Prozac it is rather worrying. I have little doubt however that some of these recently deceased people will have sons, daughters, brothers or sisters who are about in this thing of ours. 9 times out of 10 the sons or daughters return to other families which I imagine was part of the reason for their father or mothers retirements. For me if they have done this and chosen to suicide or retire it is the ultimate insult. |

I can only agree with Nino, the deceased peoples relatives will be in this thing of ours, no matter what. So why did they suicide? The reasons can be, as Kerby said. Too much pressure, not able to pull the trigger, scared of loansharks etc. What I'd also put into consideration might be the lack of power of these people. In this world of ours power is one of the most important things, if you can't get any it might drive you insane and it might get you to a suicide, to kill themselves is the only power they have at that moment. |

After seeing a few people suicide from within my own walls. It did feel like the ultimate insult, especially as they were close friends and didn't contact me at all! Maybe they had to leave urgently, who knows? If you're thinking of suiciding, shouldn't you really contact the CL out of respect and honor? After all this guy kept you safe? I know, i'd like to chat with these people who have suicided from our shores, just to see why. |

| Most people are just commiting suicide because they are not happy in there family and want there son to start fresh in a new one, instead of just speaking up to there CL they take the easy way out and kill them self. | |
