| Pay As You Go Crew Leader | Started by: Ragnar_Lothbrok on Jan 14, '14 20:46 |
|
A few days had past since Ragnar dispatched the old Godfather of Bella Vista and now it was time to put his plans into motion. He found a busy street corner near a butchers where mafioso tended to gather. Made guy's started to whisper to each other at the sight of the new Godfather in Philly but they soon grew silent when Ragnar cleared this throat.
"Today I unveil my plans for my beloved district, as you may have noticed I have run a small but tight nit family & this is for a reason. You may have noticed I also haven't setup a Boss below me either & that is because I will be doing something against the norm yet not unheard of, I will be allowing two people to set up below me with certain conditions that I will outline shortly. These two leaders will run their own families how they see fit without interference from myself unless of course they get out of hand. They will receive my protection as a Godfather but it will not come cheap & nor will it be absolute, they will still have to conduct themselves with honour and respect."
Ragnar pulls out a silver gravy boat filled with ale and empties it in one go
"Now where was I, oh yes, anyone may apply for one of the two position's I will be allowing so long as they have permission from their current leader so long as the meet the criteria about to be handed out."
Ragnar nods his head and a throng of Norse bodyguards start handing out fliers and one roughly slaps one on your chest and doesn't move his hand till you grasp it.

Ziva pours gravy over Ragnar before drinking a pint of her own. Well, it's most certainly brave running a contest after the last two we've seen. Here's hoping yours goes better and doesn't end up spectacularly biting you on the ass. |

| A throw back concept utilized in the golden age, a solid money making idea. Good luck to anyone stepping up and trying to lead. Just make sure you're physically and mentally capible. | |

Ragnar flicks as much of the gravy as he can back at Ziva
"Well my dear it's not really a contest, no one has to make the choice of fight to the death or work as a team. They get to be there own boss and run a small crew for a fee". |

Quite an interesting idea, Godfather. You truly are the Tom Sawyer of our trade. And you're absolutely right. You're an elite being of unrivaled prestige, why would you waste your time cultivating a new generation of world-changing leaders when you can just buy them from someone else? That's precisely the same reason my old man gave up the family farm. Production is overrated, especially when the end product is all we really care about. Organic food is for chumps and idiots with two extra dollars to spend on their tomatoes. I'm a big fan of enterprise, and instances like this make my pants bunch in strange and inappropriate ways. I can't wait to watch this play out, and I'd like to wish all participants great luck and best wishes in this endeavor. But that doesn't matter, because they don't have the slightest chance of standing up to the competition. Yes, friends, I am at this very moment officially announcing my intent to enter and win this competition. Give me a run for my money. |

I must say, this has a certain appeal to it. As a man who has spent his life buying his way into things (mostly whore houses), I can appreciate the idea behind this. It certainly seems like it would gain you a heck of a lot of coin if it goes well, Ragnar. |

I agree with most here, this certaintly brings back memories of days old. There where the kind of ways a family head would conduct business years and years ago...(without the BG caps etc...but we live in different times)
I hope this works out well for you. |

ok i can see that as reasonable as that is nothing more than what anyone else would have to do.
Are you fucking kidding me? Im sorry but that just screams insecurity to me.
a really well thought out money making scheme. good luck with that as i doubt you will find many people who want to pay you to be something that they wouldnt have to pay for if they earned it the traditional way.
so the point i am making is this. Why the hell would i pay you for something i can just earn through hard work and dedication? |

Well it's a smart idea mr Anastasia simply because well this is old school and most godfathers back then and even now a days give their CLs a weekly tax , some do some dont it's completely up to them. Why the hell would you do it , because this is no competition you're being offered protection and a legitimize shot at auth you may never get hell it's worth the shot if you can pay the price |

DominicG lights a cig. He inhales the smoke while exhaling he tries understand this. So you will have people authed but only if they pay you? Do you have a down payment to front before hand? I wish luck to you, I don't know how you'll get crews to join you that way! |

DominicG...he isn't 'authing' people. He is offering people the opportunity to run their own enterprises under his control. Is that worth a payment? Hell yeah. |

I'd like to highlight something I just over heard. "Why pay for something I can just earn with hard work and dedication?" Well that is pretty easy to explain. Some people will just never get author in the traditional ways. You can be the hardest worker, the most dedicated member, and you still have a solid chance of being passed over or never even considered. This option allows those with the real desire to give it a shot. This is a tried, tested, an mostly successful venture brought back to life. Would I do it? Not a chance, but my hats off to anyone who does. At least this isn't another piss poor contest. |

| Sounds to me that if an outfit wants to set up shop in Bella Vista, they need to pay tribute to The Godfather of the district. Makes perfect sense to me. While it may come off a little unorthodox to some people used to the same-ol', it's actually pretty historically sound in the Mafia. Besides is it really all that unheard of for a crew to have to pay up to their Godfather? Crews have been expected to do that for years, the ones that were set up the "tradional" way. Handle your business and don't act like a dumbfuck and you should be able to operate just fine. Personally I don't understand the bodyguard restrictions, but I'm sure Ragnar_Lothbrok has his reasons. This of course could all back-fire horribly on him, but time will tell. Hypothetically a crew could set up in Bella Vista with plans for a coup from the get-go, but then again that could happen with any crew in any district. Perhaps that's his logic behind the cap on bodyguards, but I'm basing that solely on the general misconceptions people seem to have here that one needs fleets of bodyguards surrounding them to be successful in a war or over-throw. Regardless, I personally like the direction Ragnar_Lothbrok is taking his district and hope it is a successful venture. I am a fan of anything outside of the norm. Salut | |

The bodyguard restrictions are clearly there to ensure that Ragnar can still maintain the power in the district. Were he to allow the person to set up with Insane protection, then the ability to remove the threat is then reduced. I'm not saying Ragnar doesn't have the power to remove such a well protected person, but it stands to reason that he would rather not have to worry about the person being outwith his reach. As others have said, paying the Godfather a weekly Tax isn't new. It's common for Godfathers to request that level of sum from their crews as the income a Godfather receives is somewhat less than the amount they would have earned with a 40 man family beneath them sending up tribute. |

Telkin gets lost in thought, memories from his ancestors journals flooding his brain. SirSammyRourke in particular, who was the first of Telkin's line to wear a bold suit. It was years and years ago, when ThomasRourke was tyrannically running these shores, along with Prem. They had allowed Sammy to set up in a similar fashion, and it worked extremely well for them. Telkin was hoping it'd work out just as well for his friend Ragnar. Chuckling at the thought of Ragnar not being able to hit an IWP CL, Telkin shook his friends hand and grinned. "While I am not personally inclined to venture out of Chicago again, I sincerely hope that you can get some damn good workers over there for you. This method (as stated above), has been proven time in and time out to be an effective way to allow folks who might not normally see a bold suit get one, and a damn good way for you to make some profit as to allow you to afford that prostitute you're so fond of." Telkin lights a cigar and turns to Sandman. "The idea that Ragnar isn't capable of shooting through IWP is honestly laughable, but I suppose his reasoning for the BG cap is only known to him. I do wish he would share it with us though, but it's doubtful." |

Exactly right now as a godfather right hand Mr Moran has more power than a CL when Dripple is away Alex has the power and responsibility of running and ensuring the safety of BlackBottom , why would be leave somewhere to have less power and have to pay someone. This is a great opportunity for those who may never get one hell if you can afford it take it |
