Traditionally Our Thing, Cosa Nostra doesn't concern civilians and for the most part, thugs and gangsters aren't meant to really dabble in our affairs... they are small time drug-dealers and petty thieves all throughout the country, but they'll come to a certain point where it's necessary for them to start paying tribute to our thing, kicking up to the respective kingpins, etc. Should a mademan be put down because he killed a petty thief, a small-time drug dealer. I don't think so, but on the flipside we need to recognize that our prospective members are coming from this mob of unsponsored. It's a balance between, new recruits and trespassers. It's good to give ample time for these small times to get situated, the proper introductions and such... but it shouldn't be abused either, on the flipside... we should refrain from killing outsiders. We're not butchers, we're businessmen. It's all about balance and moderation, of course they are psychopaths who will hunt and prey. We shouldn't go out of our way to protect these people, but we shouldnt harbor butchers who will bring unwanted attention to our thing. Unnecessary heat is bad for our thing, but so is unpaid tribute. |

Con rispetto, My family has been on these streets for many generations, and I too remember the time before the 48 hour rule, but I remember it differently. Yes, there were many people who were living... but there were times when my kin, without benefit of the protection were killed for no other reason than training nearly the same moment they got off the boat. And, in fact, it was one of the reasons why my family was not on these shores for a while. We were tired of losing nephews to no reason in particular. Understand me. I have no qualms with dying for what I believe in, and you say this 48 hour rule softens us up, but remember Wack is not the FIRST option, rather the last. As for those who train, there are plenty of zombies around to shoot. Not to mention, I will weigh in on the other topic as well. Marietto, Con rispetto, Non dirche non avete onore, ma lo dircavo i nostri giovani fuori strada. Do you not breathe our air? Do you not live in our cities? Even if you do no crimes, you are still in our cities, you are still wanting to be protected, and if you are not a friend of a friend, then you have no claim to protection nor any ability to defend yourself. What is more you take houses from those of our crews who could be earning us money and without so much as a 'by your leave' and a small tribute, you choose to set up shop in our cities. If you do not work, what do you do? If you do not steal or deal what do you do here except distract those who work to pay their tribute? For those without famiglia, they have no voice. Those without connections have no ability to earn, or that is how it should be. Those that have no friends in this thing of ours need to politely move. Common criminals are so because they have no code, they have no structure, and, as a result, they have no voice. I will not trouble myself to kill you child, and I hope that others will not either, but that instead, they do as they should and turn a deaf ear. If you give nothing to us, then we are not required to give you even the courtesy of listening to your pleas. Ask not what can I do for la familia, but rather, what do I need that they have? If the answer is nothing, then I do not see why you are littering the street, if the answer is something, then use the proper channels. Get a crew. Vincent |

My lawyer has advised me to ask for 50k for the use of GRHS in a public speech. My Finance Manager is awaiting your call. |

That is why I suggest that the Gods restrict my freedom to crime. In that scenario, I am not earning money on a leader's turf. I am simply one of the thousands of faceless citizens walking about the city about our own (legitimate) business. |

| There's far too much hand-holding in this thing of ours, including the 48 hour rule. People live, people die, bloodlines learn. If they don't and instead hop back on the boat, then I would suggest that they don't bring much to these shores so we are no worse off. | |

| Marietto, thank you for your demonstration of what the 48 hour rule has become, protection for people who know they should be in a crew, but choose not to be. Actions like that are a loud and clear, "Fuck you." to the mafia. I don't see how anyone can justify this rule being in existence now. | |

| Mirage, I'm not denying that me being able to crime whilst not a member of a family is a slap in the face. I'm saying that if I were not able to crime then there is no problem with the protection. We wouldn't be working on a leader's turf. We are not gaining anything from being unsponsered (though, as I have said, we don't gain anything now; in fact, it's better to be in a family than not). | |

| How can we ever know how much help the 48 hour rule really gives? Some might argue that those it merely defers the deaths of those that it protects as they are bound to die shortly as wackers refresh their profiles on the brink of 48hrs. Those that are picked up, helped and homes just turn ia just a week later for the hitsquad to clean up... | |

Obviously, it isn't a good addition to our world. But no one's going to change it. I mean, just last night a Boss was gunned down for shooting someone within seconds of being 48 hours old. It seems that this 48 hour rule has taken precedence over family. So, it's clearly un-justifiable, but no one is going to change it. Just...because. |

| Yep, a few seconds that would've never been known if the Gangster wasn't wearing a light blue suit and tattooed with a (-48), which one reiterates my original point of this rule. | |

Clearly unjustifiable? Why not ask the boss that was gunned down, if he took the time to respect my authority? If I tell you not to shoot at something, no matter how ridiculous it may seem, you don't fucking shoot at it. I may have my own opinions about this topic, such that I do not feel I need to share with anyone at this time. But do not for one moment come out here and question my judgment. I have lost good friends for doing the same, fuck, I have lost family for doing the same. But I will not bitch and whine about it repetitively as if my life as I know it has come to an end. Things are the way they are now. It has not changed. It might not ever change. If it does change, then there will be a new suit to follow. For now, fucking do what your Crew leader asks of you. You want to live with your gun, then take heed that your life may end with it as well. People think living the life of a hitter is an easy one. Shoot at the homeless, build your gun, gain respect. Well I am here to tell you that you cannot have it any bloody easier. You want to run around shooting shit, then shoot cautiously. I have explained to my members the consequences of making mistakes. Just because your bloodline has been one for the books, does not mean I will let you get away with anything that is frowned upon. |

I understand, Sir Rourke, that you wished to chastise someone for their indiscretion - but why add your 2 cents here only to inform us you have nothing to say. Why do you have nothing to say Don Mickey, it is not simply a matter of having no thoughts on it as you stated; so why, with all respect, do you not share these thoughts? Do you feel the community is somehow beneath you, that you need not concern yourself with expressing your opinions to the lesser mobsters who walk the street. Believe me, I am not trying to be sarcastic or condescending, I'm just a bit baffled. One thing that does interest me is the statement, "Things are the way they are now. It has not changed. It might not ever change." For the ordinary member of the community to come out with this, that's fine; but you are better Don Mickey. You are a leader, you are here to change things. If you are willing to settle for the same old stagnant policies we have endured for no reason. as your contribution suggests, then what hope do the rest of us have in terms of creating new and innovative ideas? I mean no disrespect when I say this, but saying "It's always been like this" is not a viable reason. Why should we hold concepts that are strongly outdated, and I speak more broadly now rather than specifically, just because they are exist? Surely such a philosophy would lead to backwardness and stagnancy? |

So, this topic again the one that's been talked about over many years now. As an old mobster myself even I've learned to take it on the chin. Although personally i don't like the rule. I have to abide by the rules just like any other folk. Don't you people get sick of bitching in the streets about something that's been about for years and yet there still hasn't been a change? This is the "Mafia" are people forgetting. If something's not liked then change it. If your not with the power to do so, then oh well get on with it. |

While I don't like the -48 Rule myself, when I joined my family I carefully read all rules. I signed my name to it in agreement that I would abide by all rules. I follow my Boss's rules to the letter, and I know what will happen if I break them. This is a rule not only of my family but a Godly rule. People aren't happy with this rule it seems to me, because of the "races" for the kill of the ia or -48. I believe if your to slow of a shot, breaking a rule doesn't or shouldn't help those that are to slow or incapable to get the kill. We have few rules to abide by. I for one follow the rules. As should every one no matter the rank. |

Stagnancy for who? You and your followers? I speak up on behalf of Detroit. I do not care whether or not you are a gangster or consigliere. We stand by the 48h rule. You break it, you will die. Many disagree, but that is not changing anything, I may have the power to do so, but I am comfortable waking up knowing these guys are still walking amongst us. Test your gun, test your luck and you may go as far as to test my friendship, but if I catch you, I will have you killed. |

I can't speak for anyone else here, but for me this isn't a matter of being too slow to shoot. I can tell you of times where my bloodline has been forced to lug an antique musket around, and still racked up more kills than some so called "hitters". (OOC: Times when I was on dial up) So for me, it's not a matter of simply being slow off the mark. Even if I was, I would not propose such a radical change because I wasn't getting enough notches on my gun. I don't mean to be arrogant here, but ask the impartial folks around here and you will generally get the answer that I am of a bloodline that tries to put the welfare of the community first, where possible. Hypno, I could not disagree more with you, sir. Does the fact that this topic has been talked upon many times make it any less relevant? Why should I, and others, settle for taking it on the chin? Why tolerate something that is neither beneficial nor necessary? There has never been a better time than now to do away with this outdated rule. There are more families operating now and more mobsters able to give invites than ever before. The community is much more healthy and we are seeing a steady influx of new mobsters. In my opinion, the excuse of "this rule has always existed" is no longer good enough. Also, regarding your "If something's not liked then change it" point; what do you think I'm trying to do with this speech? A last reminder as people seem to be overlooking this fact, I am not proposing we do away with the rule without so much as a backward glance. I am suggesting we suspend it for a trial period only, to see what affects it has on the community. On this basis alone, I really can't see any reason to oppose it. |

I have no "followers" here Don Mickey, as I've said I'm speaking for myself; not Don Acute or my family. If I was to speak on behalf of my family - I'd say the same thing as you, we stand by the 48 hour rule, and personally speaking, no member of my bloodline has ever broken it. I'm not trying to spark a debate of disobedience, or anything like that; I just feel that as this method of retaining newer mobsters is totally unproven - it would be a true disservice to the community were nothing else tried in terms of enticing new members to our shores. |
