Part 4 focused on the role of the much missed EvilClown, the BG killings, misinformation and general chaos that were the mood music for this era.  This resistance was because of the heavy-handed antics of Roman/Prem, their idiot stooge tiggy, and a cabal of less talented sychophants, like Bismarck, that eagerly and happily carried out their bidding no matter how warped or deluded.  It was against this backdrop of espionage, dirty dealings, oppression, murder and rage that Kuku and comrades operated.

From the Kuku bloodline came a frenzied Street presence, from his comrades came bloodletting: BG killings.  From the families of Roman, Prem and his stooges came resignations, suicides, and discontent.  But this is about Kuku and his involvement.  So let us discuss it...

Tiggy's underlings let their guard down

The odious tiggy didn't do many thing well, and she certainly didn't hire good help.  This street discussion resulted from a conversation Kuku had with Scrabbleking, tiggy's hand.  SK was duped into disclosing inter-city discontent and Las Vegas's feelings of inferiority.

As a bonus, it infuriated Prem, which would have made LV scared and the Underground happy.

The Pendulum Swings - Roman's Retirement

Things started to go awry...  It was widely accepted that Roman would retire on his second anniversary as Godfather.  He called a meeting with the entirety of this society (except Kuku and a couple of others, banned from IRC Avenue), where he wasted everyone's time, showed off and didn't retire.  A few suicides and retirements followed.  The pendulum swung...

The Pendulum Swings - The "Anti-Terrorism Treaty"

A message was sent to everyone in NY.  NY, and Chicago, and LV, all had agents of the underground feeding info to Kuku at this stage – so much so that we were able to broadcast inter-crew messages within minutes of them being sent.  Here’s how Kuku reported one received from a ranking NY member:

“Prem practically begged his people to stop jumping ship and joining the Underground, saying “there are alot of underground pussys who want to affect me directly, they do so by bodyguard shots ...shooting your friends” (sic).  But, says the Godfather of New York, he doesn’t care about this because “Nothing is ever done to me directly ...  you are not hurting me”.  Prem acknowledges that there is indeed a problem with defections and that the Underground life is “fun and dangerous” but appeals to inter and intra crew friendship to stem the tide “. So if you are approached to help ...  you are hurting each other, and your friends”.  Paradoxically, Prem then claims that “as always i will stand up for all of you, keep you safe, and do my best to defend our great city”.

So, Prem’s saying they aren’t a big deal?  Weird…  Because not long after this, Prem calls a meeting where he says the following:

“So more or less we called this meeting to address a few issues. I am sure all of you have seen or been directly affected by some of the rogues, body guard killers, nay sayers and general shit starters. Over the couse of the past week, i have been dealing with it a lot, inside and outside of my city … speaking with my upper structure and good friend roman I have decided we need to take a stand as a group … What i will be suggesting is that we all come up with a list of people that will not be allowed in the citys … No help … No crew … Nothing … No given 5th chances, 100th chances for some of them.  I understand doing this they will still incog and sneak into cities to cause drama and that is understandable but we need to step up recruting, no member whoring, no ok your new come join.  If you do not wish to be apart of the Anti terrisom treaty, that is fine, but my city will not condunct business with yours. For this to work it has to be all of us or none of us.  Right now it affects me, or las vegas or chicago but in a month when they finish with me they go to you next - They attack your families after wards they use you to get to me and i attack.  This isnt about me or chicago its about all of us as a group”

Huh…   Prem who wasn’t bothered about the Underground, decides to propose and implement a radical plan to bloodline an entire group of people…

Who? 

“Rianne, Caius, Kuku, Kuku's girl, TeQ, EC, Rory, Space_Pole, Fatality, Jono, Cruel, telkin”

Kuku and an associated bloodline (who’d never fired a shot in anger) were included on a list that read like a “who’s who” of prestigious bloodlines in this thing.

And look what Prem said here "They attack your families after wards they use you to get to me and i attack" - in other words, people goad Prem into doing their dirty work for them.  Kuku was the first to do this.  And he'd do it again.

This represented the final act of desperation from a group of leaders terrified of what was happening all around them

The Aftermath of the Anti-Terrorism Treaty

The drip... drip... drip... of dissent following.  Kuku HERE, again, goaded Prem into anger and frustration, with a discussion on what a rogue was.  But more importantly...  Notes of support and offers of help flooded into Kuku - as they had at the time of the Plumbers.

Enough time has passed to give some names:

AlphonsoSantorini (ranked Prem/NY member) Activys- (ranked LV/tiggy member) Skorpeon (AKA RJFuller!!) Mosquito (rank and crew not remembered - not an offer of support but interesting) Whisper (suspected double agent) and last but not least....

Kimble (would take a leading role in the forthcoming takedown)

There were many others.

The Kuku bloodline has often been justifiably accused to inflated ego and claiming for actions unrelated to them.  However, this era would have been different had Kuku not been around, causing trouble to bullies, co-ordinating information and, most importantly, creating a climate whereby the misrule of cretins was made very public.  The Kuku contribution was very significant, but not vital.  Put simply, Roman and Prem would have fallen, but not as quickly and not as entertainingly, had Kuku not been involved.  Of that I am certain.

The Winter of Discontent

A huge war was launched against Roman, Prem and the odious tiggy.  The misruling cretins were overthrown.  Numerous members of Roman and Prem's families turned against them - it was an impressive show of strength.

More will be talked about this in p6, including the vow made my Kuku that Prem would never be allowed to be a leader again.

Legacy of the Winter of Discontent

Kuku emerged from this with a degree of respectability.  His role was appreciated and an air of friendliness was even noted between Kuku blood and Prem blood.  But perhaps the best comments from this era were from Bismarck, a stooge of Roman, who hadn't achieved much on his own, but made the following observation in a speech which can be seen here:

Kuku said "With me as a close second, you are the most despised head of a city ever to walk this earth" - Always one of my favorite Kuku claims. The truth of it was that Kuku never ran any city. His job was to sit in Las Vegas and entertain New York when Deimne was running the city. Any time anything of significance ever popped up he went to New York for order and did what he was told. That was until the attack on Deimne. Then one of the attackers waltzed into Las Vegas and took it for his own while Kuku sat quietly in a corner and did what he was told.

Which brings us to the Kuku of today. The guy who likes to think of himself as some sort of rebel. A guy who pretends to stand up to oppressive leadership. The truth is he just has nothing to lose now. When he had a bold suit he took whatever shit was thrown his way with a smile. He grovelled to Deimne who was as much of a tyrant as this place has ever seen as anyone who ran a crew in another city could tell you about the huge fines Deimne would levy and how quick he was to wipe a city that failed to pay. There were no threads of dissent from that Kuku. Only threads announcing that he his casino was now offering blackjack when he had accidentally purchased roulette instead.

Perhaps it's not totally fair to come down on the Kuku line so hard. Any one of us might fly off the handle if we spent time thinking we were important only to have your child find out after your death that you were nothing but a joke. Either way the people responsible for creating that joke are all dead now so there no use in assigning blame. All we are left with are the incessantly whining children of the Kuku line.

So when will the Kuku line be considered to be removed from the list? I suppose when they can convince people that they're over being the butt of a joke that ended ages ago. Of course the length of time they've held on to the bitterness also means it's going to take a good bit of time to prove that. Or I suppose this ban list could pass along with the change of enough of the current leaders. But even then I'm sure anyone willing to take a chance on the Kuku line would do so on a very trial basis and he would be on a very short leash.”

Is this the real legacy of Kuku?  A lazy opportunist?

"is there an appetite for this series to be updated?" 

There is much to be learned form reading old historical documents. It is interesting to see how some things have changed and yet ultimately remain the same. 

I think I would like to see more of these types of historical documents reviewed and perhaps examined through a new enlightened lens. It could give us a fun insight into what our ancestors were thinking and feeling during these turbulent times. Maybe we can actually learn from our past mistakes and do things better even. 

And at the very least, maybe it'll give me the motivation to finally learn how to read.

Jurian spotted two fellas huddled around an old print that has been discontinued for quite some time now. When one of them suggested bringing it back and the other mentioned how insightful the article was, Jurian, feeling spirited, took a peek for himself. His eyes immediately turned cold and disillusioned as it seemed this series wasn't very popular in its heyday.

"Ohh.. what the hell. Why not?" Jurian forced a smile hoping to give the guy a bit of encouragement.
